Thought there have been many movies on the subject of human trafficking and prostitution, "Love Sonia" carves a top spot among such movies for its deep research and detailed presentation aided by some classy acting performances. Though this is a delicate subject, it was very well handled and put together by director Tabrez Noorani to create much needed awareness on the taboo topic.
The film excels in its screenplay to deliver a heart wrenching tale into the minds of the viewers, ably supported by the lead actress Murnal Thakur delivering a very good & honest performance. There are some outstanding performances by supporting actors in the shape of Manoj Bajpayee, Adil Hussain, Richa Chadda and Freida Pinto. Cinematography is good but Love Sonia is really outstanding in its production design, costumes and makeup. Direction is top class and very professional.
Overall, Love Sonia is a much watch movie for mature audiences to understand the nuances of human trafficking and prostitution. The movie contains some sexually explicit scenes which may not suit young teen audiences but it's a must watch for 16+ to understand the perils of living in the big bad world out there. Watching Love Sonia will awaken the human side within us. Two Thumbs up for the boldness on display.
