Based on the book "Ich bin dann mal weg" by Hape Kerkeling where the author describes his journey on the Way of St. James, a pilgrimage route, and the people he encounters there.
The main tune of the movie's score is based on Hape Kerkeling's 1991-hit "Das ganze Leben ist ein Quiz" (The whole life is a quiz), written by him, his back-then life partner Angelo Colagrossi and his old friend Achim Hagemann. The song itself is based on the 1988 song "Sì la vita è tutta un quiz" by Renzo Arbore.
In the movie, Kerkeling passes the church ruin of San Antón and afterwards the village of Santo Domingo de la Calzada. On the Camino Francés en route to Santiago, Santo Domingo de la Calzada comes first, then San Antón.
The closing credits are written on a diary accompanied with walking equipment, different photos from the Camino de Santiago and other things, including the cover of the original book the movie is based on.
