  • Well about this movie the concept of this movie was slightly weird but in all honesty, it was enjoyable enough.

This movie is pretty much about a guy who was once a singer and then gets turned into a cow then meets this satellite who takes a form of a cute looking girl around (13 or 14) and this talking toilet paper and the whole story begins.

    Animation wise it was good.

Voice acting wise it was perfect (I watched the dub by GKIDS).

Overall it is good watch. I recomand it although it may or may not be for everyone.

I don't think I've ever watched a movie that is more ridiculous than this one.

On the surface, the first 10 minutes could possibly rank as the most bizarre set of characters and plot devices ever put into film. A satellite "decides" to fall to earth after hearing a boy singing, and does so at the same time that Merlin, the magic roll of toilet paper, happens to be fighting a giant walking mechanical incinerator, and uses the satellite as a missile to temporarily defeat it. This transforms the satellite into a human girl shape. By doing so, Merlin saves a cow that was running away from the incinerator, because the incinerator is trying to incinerate all the humans with broken hearts that have turned into farm animals. The cow of course is the human boy that was singing in the first place.

It unfortunately doesn't get too much better after this, and slows down considerably. It also includes some very random and pointless characters that pop in and out, and the love story between the cow and the satellite girl is very forced, predictable and bland.

The signing is also terrible, and leaves you scratching your head as to why the satellite would even be remotely interested in it.

However, you should grab the popcorn and watch it just so you can say that you've seen what is probably one of the most absurd movies ever made.
  • Well it started good but got boring real fast, like other review say maybe its better for children not to violent.
  • I don't think I'm that big of an animated guy. Oh sure, I surely love some animated films, but I just don't think they often hit the emotional depths live-action films do, this is partly because I just have mostly seen only American animation. Every time I can branch out in a particular film genre or area, I like to do it. I thought this was pretty good, although I was wishing I would feel the same way some f its reviewers felt. The voice acting is pretty good, and the animation creative. The screenplay is also pretty surprising, and while it does have a standard love story at its core, it's all revolved around pretty different circumstances.
  • The cow multiple times takes a dump and you here the sfx. Satellite girl is pretty cute, but other than that the movie is really absurd. Sometimes the animation looks really good and sometimes it seems really lazy. Also, it's a show for kids and characters literally get thrown into a fire and later on they say the incinerator is literally killing people.
  • I've seen quite a lot of anime and this is one of the most boring i've ever seen ever.

Technically is OK. Nothing too spectacular but is well done. But the plot is absurd (and not in a funny way) and you are unable to root for the main characters. The "satellite girl" is as cold as a machine and the boy that is turned into a "milk cow" is a generic character and we could not care less about his broken-heart issues. The villain is very silly and repetitive.

There are also other secondary characters that i really don't have a clue what were doing there or why.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this movie at any cost.

This film tries so hard to have the fantastical wonder of a Ghibli feature as well as the stunning imagery commonly found in the works of Makoto Shinkai. From the design of the weird animal characters to the confusing and random nature of the plot, Satellite Girl and Milk Cow falls flat as a flaccid lump of derivative drivel.

The one-dimensional characters bumble along spewing generic, uninspired dialog while occasionally scuffling with an anthropomorphic incinerator and an unshaven organ harvester wielding a toilet plunger; all the while filling in the paint-by-numbers requirements for a romantic relationship reminiscent of a corny 80s sitcom.

From what I can tell, the overall plot is original. But this doesn't make the film any good.
  • Honestly, how can anyone not love a movie where Merlin the Magician is transformed into a magical roll of toilet paper? (He was sleeping in a tree, you see, and it was cut down and turned into various paper products.)

A run down satellite in space suddenly picks up the mournful singing of a broken-hearted young man and becomes obsessed. The satellite transforms itself into a young Astro Boy-ish girl robot and flies to Earth to save the boy, who has been changed into a milk cow and is being hunted by a giant incinerator AND a plunger-wielding maniac who wants to steal his liver! That's because the broken-hearted of the world are all transformed into farm animals and their livers are highly-prized because humans think eating them can transform them back to human (just a false rumour as it turns out). See? It all makes perfect sense!

Surreal as it all is, the story does have the emotional core of the relationship that develops between the "satellite girl" and the "milk cow". Just give in to the weirdness and you can't hlp but be charmed by this offbeat little masterpiece. Kid friendly? Oh, yeah! My three kids, ages 10, 7 and 6 were all swept up in the story, alternately thrilled, intrigued and teary-eyed.

    An absolute winner!

    This movie. Where to start.

This movie is so unbelievably flawed in so many ways, storyline, animation so much. Inconsistency's are constant in both story and animation. Scenes will be missing objects shot to shot. So many charater stuff exist to try and explain storyline but horribly fail. I thought over 3 times the movie was about to end only for it to be carried on for some reason. The villains intention is unbelievably confusing, the characters are unlikeable and the romance feels so creepy. Animation is clunky and randomly switches between 2d and 3d, many elements is scenes stay frozen even if they are just people in conversation. Animations are reused and recoloured. There a scene where you think milk cow has turned into a real cow and you think that's how the movie end but NOPE HES BACK TO NORMAL. If you want to suffer for what felt like 2 hours watch this.

I saw the other reviews and I'm very confused... Have we watched the same movie?

I mean, it's not only a movie for children, it's more deep than that. It's not easy talking about depression or mental health to children, so they've made this weird anime that feels so sweet and has a lot of meaning instead. And I really liked it!

Spunky satellite girl Il-ho and shy cow musician Ko Gyeong-cheon form an unlikely friendship that gets threatened by a giant all-consuming incinerator.

This animated feature benefits tremendously from a wonderfully wacky array of characters that include a helpful wizard who just happens to be a roll of toilet paper (!), a snippy pig witch lady, and a deranged guy with a plunger who's bound and determined to take Ko Gyeong-cheon's liver. Moreover, this movie possesses a sweet goofy charm that's impossible to either dislike or resist. Best of all, the relationship between the satellite girl and the milk cow gives this film a winning surplus of humor and heart.
  • I managed to find this on BluRay at my public library. It was a new addition and there were zero requests so I got it.

Curious, I started to watch it and quickly found it it didn't "speak to me at all". The animation is good but the story is quite odd, as the title would indicate, and for me this was a big miss.
