This is where the series gets really interesting

I liked Z Nation from the beginning, because it's a fun, over-the-top zombie action flick with a sense of humor, but this is where I really started loving it.

This series focuses in the trauma of living in an apocalypse. That's something most movies and series don't do. No matter how horrific the events the characters experience, they keep going with a quip and some grit. Sometimes they look sad and wistful as they think about their lost loved ones, sometimes they're upset when something really bad happens, but generally they're caught up in the action.

This episode shows characters in deep trauma having a meltdown. Not just one character, but three, are all falling apart in their own ways. Because what they've gone through is unimaginably horrific.

Is that something that should be done in a silly action show with a zombie tornado? I say yes. I think it's great that they manage that balance, keeping the sense of humor while really exploring the darkness. It's something most series wouldn't have the nerve to do. It's also not a one-off; the series actually takes emotional trauma seriously, and I love it for that.

    OK episode

You gotta admit. This show has really gone over the top. Tornadoes filled with zombies. Haha. It's great! Syfy has come up with so much combinations of creatures and big mutated spiders and still come up with ideas. The episode itself was OK. It looks like Murphy is starting to be too attached to the zombies.

I bet they will get to California by the finale and find out something big there that will lead into season 2 god willing. I hope people still watch this show when The Walking Dead airs tomorrow. It deserves to be given a chance.

What will they think of next?

    Terrible and Illogical Conclusion

In Illinois, the survivors are resting in a suburban house with electrified fence. Warren and Garnet are very close and bonding to each other while zombies are trapped in the fence. The weird Murphy finds that his hair is falling out and he becomes bald. Out of the blue, Citizen Z advises that they must seek shelter since a tornado with storm is coming. They also see a herd of zombies coming to the house. Warren decides to drive home since it is only two miles far and has shelter in the basement. However she regrets that she left her husband Antoine behind. They find a couple hidden in the house and the man is severely wounded in the head. The woman tells that a fireman has sent them to that house and Warren believes it was Antoine. She goes with Garnet to the firehouse to search for supplies and to seek out Antoine, but they find only zombies. Cassandra and 10 K seek for supplies and they are surprised by the storm. Doc tries to relief the pressure in the man's brain with a drill. When Warren and Garnet returns, she decides to stay outside the basement waiting for Antoine. Who will survive in the group?

"Home Sweet Zombie" is a reasonable episode with a weird story but terrible and illogical conclusion. The tornado throwing the zombies is very funny. Addy has flashbacks that are not explained. The connection of Murphy with the zombie shows that he may not be the solution for mankind since he is a hybrid between human and zombies. Warren's attitude is totally unreasonable since she is a survivor. Why did she decide to stay outside the shelter during the storm is stupid. Further, has Antoine accidentally protected her since wearing fireman's mask it would not be possible to bite her or was only a nightmare? My vote is five.

Fails to live up to expectations ...

I gave this series a chance by watching 3 episodes but I just couldn't do it anymore. I kept hoping/believing that it would get better but I was constantly let down by the poor acting, poor effects, and pointless story lines of particular episodes. There was a chance here for the producers to capitalize on the popularity of The Walking Dead and create a competitive alternative much like The Mentalist/Castle or NCIS/CSI, etc. but they seem to have crapped the bed. Some of the actors are recognizable from films and other series but sometimes appear to need to go back to drama school or are killed off before they even develop. WIN for The Walking Dead.

Early in the episode, several zombies are seen coming down a hill away from the incoming tornado. A few of these zombies appear at least twice in shot, showing they have been superimposed on the scene multiple times.
