I've been anticipating this movie for a while considering it stars Matthew, Victoria and Kat and I enjoyed the film pretty much until the end. Brooke was concerned all throughout the film that her husband may have been cheating on her. It's hinted in the end that she may have cheated during her trip to Paris with her client, not completely revealed to the audience as her client pushes away just before he kisses her. Matthew's character asks Brooke if she cheated in which she says she doesn't need to answer and they both leave to go to Paris after Brooke fantasises what could be with him.

Now what I don't understand is how both of them are willing to overlook the problem in their relationship. There's clearly no trust nor loyalty among either of them and yet both of them choose to spend Christmas together at a hotel in France, alluding to the viewer that they going to have a child in the future. Also, isn't Brooke's client relying on her vulnerability to get with her?

My opinion, the writers should have spent more time working on the ending than the ongoing series of flashbacks.
  • "Trust" is about life in a big city (NYC at Christmas), young marriage, and how business life comes into play. The start of this movie was a bit slow, but it picked up after a few minutes - but please don't expect any action elements. The plot revolves around young couples that want to make things work with their partner, but business trips, acquaintances, clients, friends and other temptations make a blossoming relationship difficult. Every young professional in a committed relationship will see themselves in some of the situations. I think this is an interesting movie that shows Victoria Justice in a role we may have seen before. But I was also hoping for more excitement in general and more depth in an otherwise predictable plot.
  • Trust is a rushed movie with alright acting, except the Irish man. He kept breaking his accent constantly and I couldn't hear a word he said. Honestly, I mainly turned on Trust because of Victoria Justice, Matthew Daddario, and Katherine McNamara. Their acting was great. I did enjoy the twists and turns the movie took. But in the end, I ended up being right. I don't think the sex was needed, or the art. It all felt a little too much. Some of the story dragged and bored me. Also, the whole thing with the senator confused me. For a second I thought Owen was seeing the senator and was gay? I don't know. Overall, it was okay.
  • ....you need better taste in films.

There's an interesting idea behind this film but the execution is awful. The characters of Amy and Ansgar should have been recast. Not sure why they made Ansgar Irish. Either get an Irish actor or cast the character as British like the actor is!!!! He couldn't maintain his accent through the film. The actress playing Amy didn't play the part well; she was very two dimensional, and the story could have been more twisty but it was flat and flaccid.

My score of 3 is for the idea.

"Trust" is a romantic drama/thriller/comedy with some interesting twists, but has what appears to be a terrible tacked-on ending.

We start by meeting Brooke (Victoria Justice) and Owen (Matthew Daddario), a married couple who live one of those idyllic New York lives that only exists in movies -- she is opening an art gallery and he is a reporter on a news TV station. She has entered in an agreement with a young Irish artist Ansgar (Lucien Laviscount), who -- in another "only in movies" situation -- is such a hot artist that people want to spend loads of money to buy his paintings. Ansger also is one of those artists who is irresistible to women and sleeps with anyone he wants. It's the week before Christmas, and Owen wants to go to Paris with Brooke to spend Christmas there and try to start a family. She tells him she has too much work to do, so they can't. However, Ansgar has discovered that some rich guy wants to spend a huge amount of money buying his paintings, and they need to fly to Paris to meet him. Owen is, understandably, sort of crushed that Brooke won't go to Paris with him, but will with Ansgar. She assures him that it's all business, but he has his concerns. Ditto for Brooke, who has seen Owen get texts from odd women and sees his interns fawn all over him at work.

Brooke leaves for Paris, and Owen goes out to a bar with his friend. And while Brooke is over in Paris with Ansgar, Owen meets Amy (Kat McNamara), a journalism student who recognizes him from his work and is clearly showing interest beyond just journalism. And from that point on, things start to get complicated ...

"Trust" is a pretty entertaining way to spend 90 minutes, with one huge caveat. The acting is good and the story is intriguing, it's got some interesting twists and is nicely time twisty in that it circles back and fills in gaps in the story in a pretty satisfying way. A bit of a problem is that the movie just doesn't make you root for Owen and Brooke as a couple, which hurts because when the the tensions start to build we're not as invested as we should be. And they made a critical mistake in so clearly showing us Ansger's art, which is clearly awful. Also, it's also a bit of an odd combination of a male fantasy (married to Victoria Justice and then Katherine McNamara hits on you ... I mean, wow, where do I sign up for that...) and a serious fears of waned trust and infidelity.

The biggest problem, though, is the ending. The last minute of the film completely destroys everything that came before it. I cannot imagine what the filmmakers were thinking. Trust me -- when you watch the movie, at the end, when they are looking at the tickets to Paris, the film fades to black. Turn it off at that fade-out, or fast forward one minute to the credits. That last minute -- which reeks of a studio insisted last minute addition -- betrays all that came before it. Skip that last minute, and it's an immeasurably better movie. But still worth checking out.

Hot actors aren't a justification to give it 10 stars or whatever happened to give it the average rating of almost 7/10. It was terrible on so many levels with rather average acting from most of the cast. And I know that not every production is meant to be a moral compass for the audience, but I won't ignore this awful normalization of cheating, harassment and toxicity. The story had potential to be something good and exciting, but it really wasn't worth watching; it turned out to be just bad
  • I was excited going into this movie with the great cast including Victoria Justice and Katherine McNamara but the movie fell flat. It was told in a unique way that made you think one thing but then later on it went back and gave you more insights to how that part of the story finished and then everything started coming together and made sense. The acting was good but the storyline wasn't that unique or interesting and there were no real thrills. It's an okay movie but could've done better.
  • Here's a snippet of how bad the writing of this movie is :

    "Did anything happen in Paris?"

    "No"

"With full honesty, all cards out on the table"

"No, I'm not gonna answer that question"

"Well would you please answer that question?"

There's a scene where this presumably attractive Irish dude who goes by the name Ansgar fondles Brooke's thighs WITHOUT her consent and she feels uncomfortable. The very next scene they are both conversing like nothing ever happened. Minimal efforts have been put into script writing and the direction. The performances by the actors were below average. Making matters worse was the background music which had no relation to the story nor was it remarkable. The music doesn't even stop for like 10 seconds throughout the movie!

Not to mention movie is flawed. Please avoid this at all costs. 2 stars for Victoria Justice. She looks stunning throughout the movie.

Once there is doubt ... once someone believes that the other person is not faithful to them anymore ... it is hard to walk that back. For better or worse, Trust is a perfect title for this movie. A movie that is flawed, that shows flaws in humans. Those in love, those who tease them - and the bystanders around them.

I had heard of the ... let's call it service the woman hires. I had not heard the conditions and the ethics behind it. Have to admit, it does make sense. It made less sense to see how this unravels towards the end. But it was kinda fun watching it. Do not expect too much in the titilating department by the way (or to be more specific in the nudtiy department). But if you are here for the story, that shouldn't bother you anyway.
  • This movie was terrible. The plotline and 'twists' were so unoriginal. The cast had close to no chemistry. I was originally attracted to this movie because of the cast mainly out of nostalgia but I was really disappointed.

It's the type of movie you'd leave in the background when you are busy with other activities.

I was watching this with a friend so, we had a really fun time judging the characters 😂😂. The story has a few twists though, which we didn't see coming and really enjoyed. Overall, a fun experience.
  • Why so much hate? It wasn't that bad. Believe me, I've seen so far worst.
  • Confusing, slow, don't waste your time. Why is it so difficult to make good movies these days.
  • This is a pretty boring movie that justifies cheating on your partner. Seriously, the only people who will enjoy this film are those who cheated on their partners and want someone to make them feel better about it.

Not a great film but 7 stars because it was interesting enough to keep my attention and interest, and I didn't hate it. Glossy, pretty cast. Glossy, pretty setting. The "Irish" artist character kept forgetting he was Irish and spoke American off and on- very distracting, plus his character was creepy and pushy. This movie was a brain candy time killer- which I honestly can appreciate.
  • This was a one time watch. A young couple, an act of infidelity and a test of trust, with an ok cast and storyline. But you trolls need to quit it with your over top ratings of 10s for films like this as if they were up for an academy award. You people really need to cease and desist from all the reviewing shenanigans. It's really doing the "real" viewing audience a true disservice. And it simply must stop. Everyone please pay no attention to those overrated reviews. They are simply misleading.
  • Marriages are not hard, but they are not easy either. It needs incredible trust. Trust in your partner more than yourself. Not everyone can do that. Some don't experience a test so great. For some this test can make or break, not just their marriage but their life itself! Very apt title for a well made movie! The movie is not just good because the cast is hot. It's because the story is honest! Kudos to the director!
  • This could have been a good movie.

The 3 leads were so bad.

The out of time sequences were so amateur and jarring.

    Was this made for YouTube?
  • Soooooooo boringgggggg And actor actress are too.this movie put me to the sleep .
  • What a twisty, Interesting ride in this movie! In New York where two married couple who face Trust issues but both refuse to say it out loud at first but eventually things will start to crumble in their world. Adding to that, the question that will keep crossing your mind did the wife cheat? Did the husband cheat? I'm really planning to watch the movie again because I really enjoyed it!

The person who did the music should be taken out back and put to rest. This is not even worthy of Lifetime. Ridiculously bad.
  • Dreadful. Dramatic music to suit the poor needs of every spoilt overdone young woman, desperate American film makers this time with an undue excess of vibrancy and glamour, awkward nudity and innuendos, overuse of the word Pairs as if this will make this more appealing. Grow up girls. Just grow up. All this inner city hormonal girl with girls have needs undertones are too dominant lately and it's about time these ridiculous characters are cast out. How can anyone rate this movie. The execution was delivered by the cast and the acting is decent but the concept, the damage things like this cause, the desperation was so so so so predictable wrong annoying and boring. Let's use a presumably attractive chocolate bling covered gangster guy, a backless dress, too much make up and a blonde at a bar who is touchy feely because that will certainly sell. Too many women are calling out for things like this to happen in their lives, wanting the best of both worlds. Guess what, grow up and live in the real world. The further you push this sort of stuff on viewers during the pandemic the more realistic people will rate this fairly which is a very low and very truthful score. American film makers and all this glitz and poor pretty girl stuff has really got to stop.
  • Even tho we have 3 great tv series actors, they were very amateur in this. The movie had potential it they ruined it.only the actor who plays the artist, acted well.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Terrible. Don't bother! Skipped most of it and only watched the rest for Victoria because she looked stunning. Other than that, it's a joke. The acting was terrible, it was boring and the toxicity... Omg.. Geez.. She hires a decoy, he sleeps with her and then he has the audacity to tell his wife 'oh, you did this to me'. Ughhh it made me so angry especially the ending. Do better writers!!
  • I hate leaving negative reviews on films, I really do. But, I feel like it's an act of humanity to make sure at least one person reads this review and doesn't waste their time trying to watch this.

    Please. Don't. Do. It.

I had to watch a light hearted chickflick after I got done with this depressive little bag of trash they call a film. Do. Not. Watch. It.
