Robert Downey Jr. Oscars Decision (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Robert Downey Jr. pulled the most Iron Man move ever—he told Disney, “Nah, I’m good,” regarding an Oscar campaign for Avengers: Endgame. Disney had rolled out the red carpet for nearly every category—Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, Best Costume Design, you name it. But when it came to Rdj’s iconic final act as Tony Stark? No campaign. And here’s the kicker: that was his choice.
“There was some talk about [an Oscar campaign], and I said, ‘Let’s not,’” Downey casually dropped on The Howard Stern Show. He waved off the idea of chasing the Academy’s love just like that.
Marvel fans went ballistic. Endgame was the emotional send-off for Tony Stark, and Downey delivered a performance that hit every note—sarcastic quips, emotional depth, and that devastating finale. Fans wanted the Academy to pay attention, but Downey? He was already out the door.

The new year brings forth plenty of highly-anticipated movies and Captain America: Brave New World is among the most anticipated of them all. It's the fourth Captain America movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's subfranchise, but it's the first to star Anthony Mackie as the titular character. A stalwart of the film series for over a decade, Mackie's Sam Wilson inherited the Captain America mantle from the original Star-Spangled Man Steve Rogers, who handed him the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. And now, it's up to him to carry on the fight.
The film looks to restore the MCU to its more grounded nature, which we haven't seen too much of in the Multiverse Saga. A political thriller that sees Sam dragged into a conspiracy involving The Incredible Hulk villain The Leader and President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, it is said to have a tone similar to that of...

It seems not only Thanos in Avengers: End Game, but now every opponent of Doctor Strange is going to get concerned with the Sorcerer Supreme’s portals. His portal ability aka Pentagram of Farallah has wrecked havoc in Marvel Rivals. As days go by, Doctor Strange is becoming more and more Op with this single move.

Initially, we have seen how this popular Marvel character used to dump the entire enemy team into an infinite drop just moments after the round began. This was just the beginning of the dominance as his portals are becoming more and more dangerous and players are finding even new tricks to use that ability in more lethal ways.

Chris Evans has officially joined the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, though we still don't know who he'll play. Captain America seems the obvious suggestion but with the Multiverse at play, that's not guaranteed.
Hayley Atwell is also set to appear in the movie, leaving many fans convinced that they'll be plucked out of that "happy ending" timeline we saw at the end of Avengers: Endgame to help protect the Multiverse.
While that's a compelling possibility, there's also been some chatter about Evans' character being allied with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Now, @MyTimeToShineH brings word that we're getting "HydraCap" in the next Avengers movie.
While this is just a rumour for now, it makes sense on several levels. For starters, bringing Evans back as the heroic Captain America would somewhat overshadow Sam Wilson, a character who will be cemented as the new Cap in next month's Captain America: Brave New World.

Robert Downey Jr.‘s portrayal of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was so perfect that he truly became Tony Stark.
However, he almost didn’t get the role, and it was offered to another actor.
Casting Robert in the franchise was one of the first strokes of genius that laid the groundwork for the creation of the MCU that we know and love in 2025.
The Oscar-winning actor kickstarted the MCU with the first Iron Man movie in 2008. Now, it’s abundantly clear that he is the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” that is Tony Stark.
After entering the franchise, he played the iconic hero in 10 movies. He seemingly exited the world with 2019′s Avengers: Endgame, but now he’s set to return in Avengers: Doomsday playing Doctor Doom!
We can safely say that he was the right choice to play Tony Stark, but at the time, it was seen...

Benedict Cumberbatch, widely known for his impressive acting skills, became a household name thanks to his iconic role as Sherlock Holmes in the hit BBC series Sherlock. His performance captivated audiences, earning him both critical acclaim and a huge fan following. Benedict Cumberbatch first played Stephen Strange in 2016's Doctor Strange. It was a major change of pace for the British actor as he found himself getting used to green screens, on-set rewrites, and the Marvel Studios method of telling stories.
Reflecting on that in an interview with Variety, the actor acknowledges that he was "a bit stiff" as the now-former Sorcerer Supreme during his first outing. However, watching Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland's interactions in Spider-Man: Homecoming was a game-changer in terms of how he approached the role.
"I learned a lot by seeing how at ease and improvisatory they are," he explained. "It’s hard because you have this huge apparatus around you, but it’s so important."
Cumberbatch remembers Downey's playful ribbing on the set of the Avengers movies where he'd call the actor "Mr. Shakespeare." However, they soon bonded over their shared history of playing...

Benedict Cumberbatch revealed during an interview for Variety’s Sundance cover that his immediate reaction to the news that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to Marvel as the villainous Doctor Doom was complete and utter shock. After all, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange shared many scenes with Downey’s Iron Man in films like “Avengers: Endgame.”
Downey’s surprise Doctor Doom role was announced to the world at Comic-Con last year, and Cumberbatch immediately grabbed his phone to message Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
“I texted, ‘What the fuck?’ and then quickly added, ‘Good what-the-fuck. I mean, good what-the-fuck,’” Cumberbatch said.
Downey will debut as the Marvel villain in 2026’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” which will also mark the returns of longtime MCU directors Joe and Anthony Russo. But Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will not be facing off against Doom in that superhero tentpole. “Is that a spoiler?” he asks. “Fuck it!”

Hot Toys continues to celebrate the legacy of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this time with a new 1/6th scale figure based on Sebastian Stan's take on the 2014 movie's villainous Winter Soldier.
It's incredibly realistic but won't be easy to come by (and it certainly won't be cheap). The Special Edition is limited to 2,000 units (and includes a Captain America Shield with a heavy weathering effect), while there will only be 1,000 units for the regular version.
There's been some disappointment about the lack of eye makeup, but it's an overall badass figure and definitely does the character justice.
Stan first played Bucky Barnes in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger; after The Winter Soldier, he returned in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He'll next be seen in Thunderbolts*, though we expect a Captain America: Brave New World cameo.

Captain America is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. He's been around for decades, entertaining audiences in the pages of Marvel Comics. When he became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, he achieved new levels of legendary, cementing himself as one of the most recognizable heroes in the world to even the most mainstream of audiences.
Chris Evans played the role of Steve Rogers so well, and he did so for almost a decade, headlining three solo movies throughout his MCU stint. Now, a new Captain America rises, as Steve handed the shield over to longtime friend and ally Sam Wilson in Avengers: Endgame, and he will step into the spotlight in the upcoming fourth installment in the hero's solo franchise, Captain America: Brave New World.

Marvel has an event problem. The franchise has managed to drive itself into the ground, by positioning itself with narratives that are focused on events. Kevin Feige has made a lot of money off of the model that allowed him to do films like Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, and that model itself has come to bite him at the most crucial moment of the MCU’s history.

Chadwick Boseman was a talented actor best known for playing T’Challa, the superhero Black Panther, in Marvel’s MCU. He first appeared as Black Panther in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016) and later starred in the hugely popular ‘Black Panther’ (2018).
His performance as T’Challa was praised for bringing strength, dignity, and inspiration, especially as it showcased a powerful African superhero to the world. ‘Black Panther’ and by extension Boseman as T’Challa became important cultural heroes.
Boseman continued to play the role in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Sadly, he passed away in 2020 after battling colon cancer after 4 years of struggle, but his portrayal of Black Panther left a lasting legacy in film and culture.
Following Chadwick Boseman’s passing, Marvel Studios chose not to recast T’Challa out of respect for the actor, who inspired millions through his portrayal of the character. Instead, in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,...

Hollywood’s unexpected love affair with lower league English football is continuing.
Avengers director Joe Russo has been named on the board of Championship side Sheffield United, after the club was taken over by a U.S.-led consortium, Coh Sports, last month. He was also named as an investor.
Russo is the latest Hollywood figure to invest in an English soccer team, coming after the likes of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who hosted Russo at a match in Wales in April 2023 in which the Red Dragons were promoted back into the English Football League. Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady is part of the group that owns Birmingham City.
In a press release announcing new board members, Sheffield United called Russo a “record-breaking director and producer who has been responsible for some of the most successful and culturally relevant global content.”

So, how did it happen? A ridiculous mistake that sent photos of Rdj – yes, the one and only Iron Man – strutting around an airport making their way online. Way to ruin the surprise, right?
Here’s the kicker: Black Widow was supposed to be the first Marvel flick post-Avengers: Endgame. After that massive tear-jerker where we lost Iron Man, we were all left wondering if Marvel would somehow find a way to bring him back. Enter Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson. We all knew Natasha had to confront her past, but Tony Stark? In a movie set before Infinity War? Yeah, we were skeptical. But then those photos hit, and suddenly, the big “what could have been” question loomed.

In 2026, audiences worldwide will see the multiverse under Doom. The clock is ticking, and the supervillain is coming. Soon, everything we've ever known about the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be turned upside down, and we need at least one hero to step up and stop the madness.
Better yet, what about assembling The Avengers once again? After all, it's been a while since they've been out of the picture, and understandably so. With the death of Tony Star and Natasha Romanoff — as well as the retirement of Stever Rogers — some of the most iconic heroes the world has ever known are gone. So who else could suit up and join the fight?
Big MCU crossovers are often surrounded in secrecy as the best surprises are *intended* to be saved for the premiere. Remember how Andrew Garfield tried to deny so hard that he wasn't in Spider-Man: No Way Home? Well,...

Disney was, for a time, the unquestioned ruler of the box office. In 2019 alone, Disney made more than $10 billion globally, becoming the first studio ever to do so. Then 2020 came and upended the movie business in a big, bad way. The pandemic shut down theaters for months on end, with the recovery happening far slower than hoped. Even so, thanks to the massive success of "Moana 2," Disney has now accomplished something that no studio has since 2019, as three of its 2024 movies have crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide.
With another surprisingly strong weekend in the books, "Moana 2" has now earned $1.01 billion worldwide, passing "Jurassic World Dominion" ($1 billion) as the eighth biggest movie of the pandemic era. More importantly, it now joins its fellow 2024 Disney releases "Inside Out 2" ($1.69 billion) and "Deadpool & Wolverine" ($1.33 billion) as members of the $1 billion club. No other studio had a movie cross that milestone last year,...

The Red Hulk will show off his many differences to Bruce Banner's Hulk in the MCU when he makes his official debut in Captain America: Brave New World. The McU's Multiverse Saga has received mixed reviews from fans, with most of them leaning toward the negative end of the spectrum.
While I do agree that many projects that've come out since Avengers: Endgame haven't been as strong, I still have faith that the MCU will once again be on the right track. One way they could right themselves is by focusing on more of the supernatural characters that abound in Marvel Comics, and no other character would do that than the Macabre Man-Thing!
Who is Man-Thing?
Man-Thing first appeared in the Marvel Magazine Savage Tales #1 in May of 1971, and was created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, and Gray Morrow. Savage Tales was a line of black and white magazines that implemented a myriad of writers and artists to come up with stories with various characters that were established, such as Conan the Barbarian, behind-the-scenes facts about films,...

Sebastian Stan has gone from unknown to beloved actor in just over a decade. The actor saw his big break when he got cast in his first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, playing Bucky Barnes in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. He continued to play Bucky in further MCU content, including the Captain America movies as well as Avengers: Endgame and the TV miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This MCU role helped him gain visibility and pave the way to other roles.
Some of said roles have been met with massive critical acclaim. In 2022, he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for playing Tommy Lee in the based-on-a-true-story drama series Pam & Tommy. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for the role. Stan was in two films last year that earned him acclaim, receiving...

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ director Julius Onah is proud of his work on the superhero movie. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster will be the cinematic introduction of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America - after Chris Evans departed as the star-spangled superhero in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ - and the 41-year-old filmmaker has teased ‘Brave New World’ will stay faithful to the previous ‘Captain America’ trilogy’s "incredibly relatable" and "grounded" nature.Speaking with Fandango, Onah said: "What's been so great about the Cap movies, in the corner that they have in the universe, is they've operated as these incredibly relatable, grounded thrillers, right?"‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ director explained Mackie’s alter ego Sam Wilson is at the heart of the movie’s reliability and promises the character would be an "earthy, grounded Captain America".He said: "I think it's so important for a film like this when you...

Marvel Studios did a phenomenal job keeping Avengers: Endgame's biggest secrets under wraps. Among them was the moment an older Steve Rogers passed his shield to The Falcon, Sam Wilson, making him the new Captain America.
In The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it was revealed that Sam had ultimately decided against wielding the shield. Everything that happened with John Walker eventually changed his mind, of course, and the hero will next take centre stage in Captain America: Brave New World.
During a recent interview to promote tickets for the movie going on sale, actor Anthony Mackie reflected on learning he'd be the McU's Star Spangled Avenger.
"It was a bunch of us at his house - [Chris Evans] had this crazy house - sitting there watching a game, shooting the sh*t. So he goes, 'Have you read the new script?' I said, 'Nah.' And he was like 'Tou don't know?...

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

I might have been initially apprehensive about Chris Evans' return, but after reflecting on how much the MCU kept the legacy of Steve Rogers alive since Avengers: Endgame, I've changed my mind. Captain America's MCU story ostensibly came to an end in Avengers: Endgame after the Avengers leader lived a long and happy life with Peggy Carter, growing old, and bequeathing his iconic shield and mantle to Sam Wilson. His whereabouts since have been up for speculation, though this will likely be addressed in Captain America: Brave New World in February.
Whatever the case, it's probably safe to say that Earth-616's Steve Rogers has bowed out of the MCU. Yet it was recently reported that Chris Evans will return in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. His role is to be confirmed, but this has sparked a firestorm of speculation given that Robert Downey Jr.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is notorious for its difficulty in balancing comedic and serious tones, often whiplashing from one emotional beat to another with violent speed. The films of the MCU are well-known for their quippy sense of humor, which has often been criticized as a crutch the franchise uses to maintain mass appeal at the expense of earnestness. Though serious scenes being interrupted by comedy is a far more frequent problem in the MCU, the reverse can be true almost as often.
In many cases, a lighthearted or comedic beat in the franchise will be suddenly interrupted by the sudden development of a very serious plotline. This is often the fault of the films' editing style, which can result in haphazard cuts that abruptly shift more humorous scenes into far more dramatic moments with little warning. In other cases, the tone will slingshot from funny to heavy over the...

Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie is ready to officially inherit the mantle of Captain America from his friend and former costar Chris Evans. Mackie has starred as Sam WIlson in many MCU projects starting with 2014's Captain America: The WInter Soldier, and his character started off as the Falcon, a sidekick to Evan's Steve Rogers/Captain America. In Avengers: Endgame, Steve passed his iconic shield to Sam, who properly took on the title at the end of the DIsney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Coincidentally, the real-life story of Mackie discovering he would be the new Captain America involved Evans passing the torch. Speaking with Fandango as part of their Big Ticket interview series, Mackie told the memorable story of how Evans delivered the life-changing news:

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be the biggest flex in Hollywood, but not every star is lining up for a sequel. Some actors have hung up their capes for good, done with all the spandex and CGI madness. Meanwhile, a few are itching to jump back into the action, practically sliding into Kevin Feige’s DMs for another shot.

Right now, MCU fans everywhere are waiting in anticipation for the release of Avengers: Doomsday, not just because it’s the next big event-movie of the franchise, but because it will see the return of iconic Iron Man actor, Robert Downey Jr. Rdj’s Tony Stark sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame, but that won’t be enough to prevent his return in Avengers: Doomsday, especially since he won’t be coming back as Tony Stark, but another character altogether: Doctor Doom. And, if the MCU wants to do this story right, it needs to lean on a forgotten Iron Man plot in Marvel Comics.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s unbelievable box office numbers have cemented the film’s place as a truly special success, both for Marvel and for the film industry in general. The concept of the project garnered plenty of anticipation from the moment it was announced that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine would return to the screen. Coupled with the fact that the previous Deadpool films are fan favorites, it seemed obvious that the last in the trilogy would do big numbers at the box office.
Even with the high expectations set for the film, no one could’ve ever predicted just how successful Deadpool & Wolverine would actually end up being. Grossing just over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, Deadpool & Wolverine was one of two films to hit the billion mark in 2024. It was the most successful superhero film and second-highest-grossing film of the year. The phenomenal numbers are something Marvel should be proud of.

Marvel cut a potential Black Widow storyline that would’ve altered Bucky Barnes’ next MCU project, and I truly wish they hadn’t. The main focus of the franchise has always been the flashy action and over-the-top heroes. While romance isn’t always featured in every project, Marvel has usually used romance to add some emotional weight to certain storylines. Not every couple has been a hit with fans and some anticipated couples have yet to make their MCU debut, but it’s a shame that one romantic pairing will never even get a chance to begin.
One of the MCU’s biggest romance misses was Natasha Romanoff and Bruce Banner’s brief fling in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Though their chemistry wasn’t necessarily bad, it was more so due to Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo’s great acting rather than the characters actually feeling compatible. Since that film,...

2025 has already happened in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and included some of the most game-changing events in the franchise's history. While the early projects of the MCU were set primarily in the years in which they were released, this went through some significant changes following Avengers: Endgame's five-year time jump. 2019's Endgame was set primarily in 2023, and the MCU timeline is still running ahead, meaning while 2025 has only just started for us, it's already happened in the MCU.
Marvel Studios' official timeline book clearly explains all the major events of 2025, spanning many of Phase 4's projects, including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While the MCU now seems to be exploring 2026, leading up to Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, 2025 was a huge year for the world of the MCU. New MCU heroes stepped up to the plate,...

One Chicago really knocked the crossover premise out of the park in 2019. They had attempted it in the past, but the three-part "Infection" story maximized the format while at the same time giving shine to each of the individual shows. It was a triumph. It sounds like One Chicago figured out a way to top it with its new, crossover, however.
One Chicago executive producer Anastasia Puglisi likened the crossover to a three hour film, and now, a Chicago Med cast member got more specific about which three hour film. Steven Weber told Screen Rant that the 2025 crossover will be the franchise's answer to Avengers: Endgame.

In the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and beyond, there are many Marvel movies that have actually proven to be remarkably forgettable. Long before the beginning of the MCU’s movie timeline, there were movies based on the characters and stories of Marvel Comics. As Marvel has long been one of the most formative and defining voices in the superhero genre, many cinematic adaptations of its stories have been made over the years.
Despite the general success of the movies of the MCU, not all Marvel movies have been as spectacular as the most notable. Some, predating and existing in or alongside the MCU, have been remarkably forgettable. Forgettable movies aren’t inherently bad, but rather inconsequential in a way that renders specific details – or, sometimes, the entire movie – incredibly difficult to recall. With that in mind, here are the 10 most forgettable Marvel movies ever.

Since Iron Man blasted into theaters way back in 2008, Marvel Studios has changed the game for superhero movies. Of course, not every movie or TV show they've released has been perfect and, yes, at least a few of them could be considered downright bad.
Overall, though, the MCU has an impressive batting average, knocking these adaptations out of the park time and time again. We'd be lying to say at least some significant creative missteps haven't been made along the way, and it's those we're taking a closer look at today.
This doesn't cover all of them and every fan will likely have their own take on what should be considered a creative misstep (Blade's Eternals voice cameo and Ms. Marvel's new powers are two ideas that didn't make the cut). Ultimately, we think you'll agree that these particular blunders are hard to forgive.

It's been nearly six years since Chris Evans' Captain America retired from the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, but the erstwhile Avengers leader has been referenced every year since his departure save for one notable exception. Steve Rogers' MCU arc came to a satisfying conclusion in Avengers: Endgame when, for the first time, Steve capitalized on the opportunity to look out for number one and visit the 1940s to be with Peggy Carter. Returning to the present after having lived several decades, Rogers remains coy about his life with Peggy and bequeaths his shield and mantle to Sam Wilson.

NBC and the stars of the shows have presented One Chicago crossover updates.
The network has been jumbling up the schedule lately, including postponing a week of episodes for President Joe Biden’s speech on January 15.
The good news is that even though episodes have been shuffled around on the schedule the One Chicago crossover remains on the same date.

Avengers: Endgame had its share of memorable moments, but one sequence in particular will go down as one of the most iconic and enduring scenes in MCU history.
During the climactic battle, Thanos manages to defeat Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America - but Steve Rogers isn't about to stay down. As the Sentinel of Liberty dusts himself off and prepares to fight until his last breath, he hears Sam Wilson's familiar "on your left," and turns around to see Black Panther and the rest of the recently-revived heroes assembling through Doctor Strange and Wong's mystical portals.
The "Portals" sequence has had such a lasting impact that it might be difficult to imagine it playing out any other way, but co-director Joe Russo has now revealed that the original idea for the scene was quite different - and he had to fight for the version we saw in the finished film.

The portal scene in Avengers: Endgame has solidified its place as one of the greatest moments not just in Cbm history but in cinema history. From the emotional return of the heroes lost during Infinity War to the triumphant arrival of the Avengers for the final battle, it gave audiences an insane experience. However, “the portals scene” almost looked very different.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed how much the scene changed during production. Initially, the idea was to center the camera on Steve Rogers, with all the returning heroes gathered behind him. While visually striking, it lacked the emotional weight they wanted to convey.
The Russos, determined to create something more impactful, pushed for a new approach during reshoots. This led to the final version, where each hero is given their moment to emerge dramatically through the portals, creating a sequence that resonated with fans worldwide.

Aubrey Plaza was excellent in Agatha All Along with her portrayal of Death. Finally, Marvel fans got to see the cosmic entity coming to fruition on TV via the acclaimed Disney Plus series. Naturally, some may ask if the Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the character is the same one that Thanos was absolutely head over heels for in the pages of Marvel Comics. To simply answer that: yes and no. The MCU has a history of tweaking things for the screen and this instance is no different, but even so, there are some similarities. So, essentially, the character is the same in some ways, but she's also still very different in Jac Schaeffer's series.
Death first appeared in Captain Marvel No. 26 and then she roamed a range of issues in the comic book universe. But then most fans got to know her because of her relationship with Thanos,...
