I'm a history buff but what bother's me more is when a story (and anyone's idea home much truth there is in the story), is placed in front of me with so much fabrication rather than known facts.
Taking a TV crew to Europe to answer a couple of questions.
Search for the lost giants had to be the worst, so far. Near the end of the series they come so close to what the answers are/were that they dropped the ball right then and there, kind of like a cliff- hanger, sort of taunting people to come back for more later only to find out much later, that the show we watched was the last show and no answers or result were being provided. In other words the concept might have had a flake of truth but there was no real brain power, not to mention any sacred ground and permits. Roanoke was another blunder and so might be Curse of Oak Island. These stories keep getting stretched out over time and yield no results. The build up before the series is quite intense and worded in such a way that we're led to believe that these historic discoveries are real. Scot Wolter? Trying finding him online as a forensic geologist. His convincing manner and tone leads us to want to believe and the masses get sucked in. As fir oak Island I don't believe 90% of what is told, too many actors and staged events. There's little-to-no followup on any discovery or mini find. They find a teeny bit of something and then move on. That is the one constant in all of these shows "teasers"
Those ghost shows? I followed one of those ghost shows once just for fun because I don't believe in such things but it was fun to see what BS they could provide. Again, after the discovered something, usually all CGI, then right after commercial they move on to something else and never do talk about that discovered tidbit
Oak Island is now doing this
What's really sad.. The actually history channel lacks talent and it seems that people are enamored with convincing BS and commercials that pave the way. H2 is a little better and AHC has actual footage as does NatGeo.. History channel please clean up your act and give us decent programming of REAL. As for entertainment value it's okay, but if you're a history buff and seeking some facts, it's best to turn to books
