  • I seen commercials about this show on Comedy Central. I thought it would be an edgy and boring thought out drink beer to show, but a lot of the things in this show are genius. I enjoy the original grotesque cartoon style for one... and the situations relate to real life and this all works around one protagonist. The thing that stood out to me the most is you can even learn something new and important from the episodes that pertain to our everyday situations and you should sometimes read deep into the episode meanings. I say, this is a fresh start to a new series of raunchy comedy animation. I highly recommend this. I really hope there will be newer scenarios to this show. I have to say it has a little bit of South Park influence to it. Overall, I cannot say more to it, but check this show out. You will be refreshed, and you would want to watch more.
  • This show was a great surprise for me. Being a huge fan of South Park, Futurama, Rick & Morty, I found a little bit of each in this show. It resembles South Park for the satiric comments on today's society and the news subjects subtly evoked, I found the same aspect on J&A. The wise viewers will be able to catch the "hidden" morals of each episode on today's society. On the other hand, this show is quite entertaining, without getting boring, and, of course, many hilarious scenes, on how well Jeff represents Earth's (the US's, or the West's) most average guy. 9/10
  • First 1-2 episodes were not super funny but after that it really got going. Hope they make more.
  • Where are all the people? Why is there not one review of this show yet? I'm the first one to write it.

Plots are intriguing and keeping me on edge of my seat throughout the whole episodes. Little bit of laugh here and there, and even brilliant dialogues sometimes.

Rick and Morty is praised to death while nobody is talking about this show. Although I get same vibe and entertainment from it.

If you haven't checked this out and is wanting to see some new comic Sci-Fi similar to Rick and Morty, this is your stop. I watched all 4 episodes of season 1 in 1 sitting. Hope writers keep on writing brilliantly and it doesn't get axe. Hope this turns into something bigger.
  • I remember watching clips of this show on another show called TripTank on Comedy Central and was pleasantly surprised to see it got it's own spin-off. I would have to agree that this show is similar to Rick and Morty and I could not be any happier.

All of the episodes are written well, but the last two episodes of Season 1 are golden. I've watched both of them at least 5x over and I'll continue to watch every episode until Season 2 comes out.

I think Brett Gelman is perfect for this role and his exceptional performance is witnessed in each episode. Keep up the great work. Thank you!!
  • I honestly don't even know where to start. I can't stop raving about this show to all of my friends that like animated comedies. Already, with only 1 season under its belt, the show surpasses Rick and Morty, in my opinion. I love R&M, but JASA is its own entity.

Jeff - a lazy, greasy, moderately overweight, 29 year old male with a minimum wage job working at a smoothie stand in a mall - is our protagonist. From that description, most people would wonder what's so special about Jeff. Exactly! The fact that he isn't special at all is what makes him so special. Jeff would go on living the most average life possibly if not for "some Aliens." Sammy, Jimmy, and Ted are three space-travelers sent to study Jeff and report their findings - thus determining if Earth will remain, or be destroyed in a fiery ball of human mass extinction.

The misfortune motif of Jeff, brought on by the aliens, is what makes this show so creative and hilarious. The aliens usually think that they are helping Jeff when they are actually making his life a living nightmare. And while the aliens are a huge part of the show, along with Jeff obviously, the wide array of side characters all shine in their own ways. Linda, Jeff's ex that he still hasn't gotten over, is caring but tired of Jeff's immaturity. Stanley, Jeff's father, played by the lovable Richard Kind, is a nice representation of a typical upbringing of a loving parent. Jeff works with two idiots at the smoothie shop that are used just enough to be funny and not overbearingly obnoxious and annoying. Jeff's boss is a hard-head gym junkie with a quick temper. The list goes on, but each character is anything but an overused archetype.

The show is something I've never before, and I'm an avid couch potato. Watching "Earth's Most Average Guy" deal with these overly-optimistic aliens who bring pervasive turmoil to Jeff's existence, while trying to navigate his own substandard life, is what keeps the show so entertaining throughout each individual episode. The viewer really starts to root for the everyman underdog. Mirroring real life, good and bad things happen to Jeff. While it may seem like the show defaults after the credits roll for every episode, the beauty of the craft of the show is that Jeff does evolve and actually learn his lesson. The show is not too crass, and uses its moderate vulgarity not too shock, but to be frank and relatable. Jeff masturbates a lot. What 29 year old single male doesn't? The show is never "in your face" and "trying too hard" to be funny. It's naturally humorous while simultaneously being immensely entertaining. I hope this show is given additional seasons, as it would be a crime to cancel before it can spread to the audience that it's bound for. Witty, sometimes outrageous, and consisting of flawed yet lovable characters, Jeff & Some Aliens deserves to be seen by any sci-fi, comedy, and/or cartoon fan.

    10/10 - Animated Masterpiece
  • One of the best adult animations I have ever seen. It is way better than 'Rich and Morty'. I really do not understand why this animation is not a great hit yet. I'm waiting for season 2 to come. It all that I want to say, but this stupid review section only accept reviews with five or more lines...
  • Funny, imaginative and offensive, that's my favorite brew! Better than Rick and Morty after the third season. I hope they get to make a come back and produce a lot more of this. For those of you who are desperate for more Jeff you can find shorter sketches sprinkled out in the show Trip Tank. Happy hunting!
  • The marketing for this in my country was more or less spot on:

Animated grotesquery that is utterly unpretentious but at it's heart there is indeed some pertinent commentary on the lives we lead.

With it's washed out green-brown-grey color scheme and, shall we say, *efficient* animation, this paints a sordid picture of modern life where hypocrisy, bullying and disappointment hide around every corner.

Jeff is more or less likable as an everyman protagonist when he isn't getting on a high horse. His three room mates provide some gags but over all they're only there to provide the magical/sciency gadgets that enable the episode to become a thought experiment.

It takes that Futurama/Rick and Morty vibe but turns the negativity factor way up. Yes, a lot of the plots are intriguing and satisfying in that speculative fiction way and they apply the old tropes with a certain freshness and all done with schoolboy panache.

I do have an issue with this show (asides its admittedly appropriate animation style) and it's hard to put into words. I like dark humor a lot. I'm usually totally the guy defending the rape and suicide jokes in this and that. You can be conscientious and still have a good laugh at terrible scenarios you know. But this show takes it to a sadistic degree where the darkness BECOMES the humor. I know that sounds pedantic but the number of times, for example, when Jeff through impulsiveness or whatever, misses out on basically living happily ever after. It's that lazy comedy approach where they come up with the superlative reward but snatch it away: "You COULD have had this. But no".

I find that way more distasteful than ordinary dark humor.

I want to praise the Marxian undertones of this series though the bleakness did get a bit under my skin.

Two episodes that didn't appeal as much as the others 1) when Jeff is able to impersonate a teenage girl (it makes sense in context) and his douchebag landlord is just evil.

And 2) an episode that feels like it was funded by the Swedish tourism board. It's nauseating and in addition to that has a really dull premise and a boring gadget concept.

Ultimately, there is a good ending. This show, like many others, was good enough to deserve a season made but not second.
  • Unlike those awful new Nelvana and DHX shows (Johnny Test, Sidekick, Scaredy Squirrel and Cloudy w/ a Chance of Meatballs), this one does not disappoint. Created by Sean Donelly (the man who best character in the show), this hilariously awesome and clever show came to our television. Comedy Central should be grateful to have this show, because this show doesn't have those awful fart jokes, they're not "trying" to be funny and would never do other things that really irritate us all. Two of my childhood Nelvana shows: Cardcaptors and Metabots are gone in North America. Because of that Nelvana ended up making those aforesaid moronic flash toons that makes The Nutshack look like The Loud House, and we all know for a fact that neither one of them are interesting. For The Jeff and Some Aliens, the characters are wonderful, the plots are unique and the animation is perfect. Lil' Bush & Brickleberry are good, but nothing can beat The Jeff and Some Aliens. My all-time favorite character is Andy, the infant turned adult man from episode 2. I really hope the show remains successful and doesn't become a failure like those shows Comedy Central gets viewer backlash that I also liked (except Goode Family). I give this show a 10 out of 10, and give a A++++++--++++.

This is the second best show next to Archer that has come out of Comedy Central. I have no clue why there the show has no reruns and only showed once. I think comedy central should renew it for another season to see if more people can watch the show. The show is really funny and I love it a lot.

The show is so well written. It brings a lot of stereotypes like Jeffs ukrainian neighborhood, his boss who is a complete jerk.

I watched 3 episodes so far and I cried laughing on two of them. Its really a good show and worth some time spending. Way better than recently episodes of Family Guy that kinda lost its way, or Rick N Morty which I think is getting kinda of repetitive.

Love this show little weird and funny can't stop watching.
  • The fact it only has one season is a bummer, but In my opinion this will go down as a hidden gem. Maybe the one season will help it gain underground status. Jeff is a straight up trip. Definitely a instant classic and I totally recommend.

This show was very good. It's a shame we got so little of it. It is different enough from other shows, and the sense of humor is a little raunchy and silly. I loved it.
