With Mads Mikkelsen playing Kaecilius and Chiwetel Ejiofor playing Baron Karl Mordo, all the early fan favorites to play Dormammu have assumed other roles. Unless he's being saved for the sequel, the film needs to cast someone to play the master of the Dark Dimension. Could that be who Benjamin Bratt is playing? Marvel has not made any announcements to alert the public that Bratt is in the film so either his role is minor or he's playing a character that they want to leave a surprise until opening night. Who do you think Bratt (52) could be playing? Recently, he's been doing a lot of voice over work (Justice League: Gods and Monsters, Despicable Me 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2) which is pretty much all the role of Dormammu would require. Of course, this is only speculation (and maybe wishful thinking) so until we hear something official...

It's time for this weeks comic book review. So I think I'm all done with Justice League: Gods and Monsters so kind of glad it's ending. Old Man Logan #4 isn't big on dialogue but it does have Wolverine beserker raging all over the place. Ninjak #6 is a welcome return to a character I liked. And this weeks Spawn #255 is the version of All Simmons I like. Check em all out here and keep reading guys.

First off, I want to apologize for this column's absence this past couple of weeks. When It Follows and Ex Machina arrived on Blu-ray back on July 14 I honestly completely spaced and forgot all about this column, which is a shame considering those are two of my top three movies of 2015 so far. That said, if you weren't aware they were released you can click on either title and purchase them now. Otherwise, here are this week's new DVD and Blu-ray releases along with a boatload of new release dates including Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Duke of Burgundy (another one of this year's best films), Mad Max: Fury Road (probably my favorite film of 2015 so far) and Furious 7.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent Not a good movie and I'm pretty sure everyone knows it, though they may say something different so...

Plot:
In an alternate reality, the Justice League is a brutal force that the World fears and distrusts. So when the Jl are framed for a series of murders, no-one is exactly jumping to their defence and it is up to Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to figure this out for themselves and ultimately save the day.
Verdict:
Now this is more like it.
After efforts like Justice League:War, Son of Batman and Batman vs Robin. Justice League: Gods and Monsters is a real breath of fresh air and a sign that DC Animation can be as good as they used to be, which was a long while ago.

This week's new episode of Picks From the Rack takes a look at the new Ninja Turtles, a somewhat predicatble Batgirl, Star Wars, and more! Come inside to watch the latest episode and see what you should be reading!
It was a good week for titles guys. I mean except for that crapfest X-Men '92 #2 Which Didn't Make The List!!! Sorry about that. Titles read this week:
Justice League:Gods and Monsters Superman#1
Batgirl #42
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #48
Star Wars #7
Justice League: Gods and Monsters - Superman #1 is a must have this week. Batgirl #42 was entertaining but predictable. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #38 rehashes and old storyline but manages to do it better. And Star Wars #7 was a look at a character whom we've never seen what happened between the purge and A New Hope.

While July 28th may be a light day in terms of the amount of horror and sci-fi titles making their home entertainment debuts, we do have an interesting assortment of films and TV to look forward to. Kino Lorber has dug up two classics—The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein and Cherry 2000 (starring Melanie Griffith)—which are being released on Blu-ray this Tuesday, and Scream Factory has another underrated genre gem getting the HD treatment as well—the horror western Ghost Town.
For all you MST3K fans out there, Shout! Factory is putting out another collection of campy films that you’ll be able to add to your collections this week and Bayview Entertainment also has a double feature of cult movies from Germany—Strangler of the Tower / Monster of London—arriving on DVD.

The all-time classic comic book Batman: The Killing Joke is one of three new DC animated films on the way...
At yesterday's world premiere of the Justice League: Gods And Monsters animated film at Sdcc 2015, DC announced a new line-up of animated projects for 2016. The most notable of the three is an animated film based on Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's The Killing Joke, which will be helmed by Bruce Timm, the guy who created the art style for most of the DC Animated Universe since the early 90s.
Neither Timm nor 1988's The Killing Joke really need much of an introduction, as the latter is one of the seminal Batman books ever written. We still see traces of its influences in the movies (both Batman 1989 and The Dark Knight ripped directly from this Joker story).

The DC Universe's next animated film, Justice League: Gods and Monsters is hitting blu-ray next month, but before it hits, you can check out the first clip from the film, showing how the alternate reality team handles the world...
I'm very excited to see what Justice League: Gods and Monsters has to offer. It's a very different take on the heroes we all know and love, and DC's animated films are almost always impressive and fun to watch. So this little adventure should be interesting indeed, especially based on this first clip:
Animation legend Bruce Timm returns to the popular DC Universe Original Movies with his unique new vision of a Justice League you’ve never seen before. "Justice League: Gods & Monsters" features a Superman born of General Zod’s blood, a Batman with a healthy dose of bat in the man, and a Wonder Woman rising from the ranks of the New Gods.

Sorry, kiddos. I ain’t got no snark to hone into laser focus this week. With a day job literally sapping my inner strength as we prepare a massive brand overhaul alongside our massive summer conference, all I have the energy to do when I make my way home is the bare minimum. Which of course amounts to drawing pages for the upcoming new Samurnauts book, planning a major crowdfunding campaign around said book, organizing video shoots and marketing lists for said campaign, completing sundry freelance gigs for way less money than I ought to be collecting, and of course… writing for you, my adoring public. So, as is the custom when my well seems to be tapped of a singular topic, I present to you a smattering of my simmering speculations from my cerebellum.
Hey, I may be running close to empty, but I’ll be damned if I...

Machinima’s upcoming programming slate is filled with DC Comics superheroes, and perhaps the most hotly-anticipated of those projects in now live. The online video network dedicated to fan culture has debuted the first episode of Justice League: Gods And Monsters Chronicles, in which animator Bruce Timm weaves stories around iconic DC characters.
The first episode is titled “Twisted,” and it centers on the character who is perhaps Timm’s most iconic creation: Harley Quinn. The demented villainess debuted in Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series, and here, she returns to do battle with the Caped Crusader. The six-minute video is a lot of fun; between its crisp animation, its entertaining action sequences, and stellar voice acting (Dexter star Michael C. Hall voices Batman), it will delight DC fans and casual viewers alike.
