After enjoying a summer romance, high school students Danny and Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High. There Sandy must contend with cynical Rizzo and the Pink Ladies in attempt to win Danny's heart again.
The old camera on the gym floor throughout the National Bandstand scenes was actually "functional"... The prop camera (designed to look like an RCA TK11) had a real modern-day camera placed inside of it. The controls for the modern camera were also in their proper place: The focus control was attached to the side of the camera and the zoom control was attached to the pan handle... The same places these controls would have been on the late 40's/early 50's-era camera it was modeled after.

One of the rides in the carnival scene is the Zipper, which was not invented until 1968.
The Fox broadcast version ran roughly 3 minutes longer than the Paramount home video release. As they headed into commercial breaks, Mario Lopez narrated several short behind-the-scenes/making-of segments which were omitted from the DVD.
