Zoe Lister-Jones was proud to attend Sunday’s Spirit Awards, and the reason is twofold. First, the multihyphenate talent turned up in Santa Monica to support a pair of nominations for Roku’s Slip, the original series she created, starred in and executive produced alongside a team that includes Dakota Johnson. Reason No. 2: She did so by walking into the event hand-in-hand with a new love in her life.
When the subject of her plus-one came up during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old Lister-Jones responded with a big reveal: “I’m here, I’m queer, I have some fear but I’m working through it.” Lister-Jones is in a new relationship with a fellow filmmaker, Sammi Cohen, who most recently directed Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, the teen comedy starring Adam Sandler and family including wife Jackie and their daughters Sadie and Sunny.

Exclusive: The majority of the managers working at LA rep firm The Green Room have abruptly exited to launch management and production outfit Untamed Artists LA.
The move was made in the last few weeks and follows what the group described to us as “irreconcilable differences” with Green Room founder Alex Czuleger, who as of last week was understood to be the only manager left at the firm.
Czuleger, who set up The Green Room in 2014, declined to comment on the reason for the departures but noted that the Green Room would continue to operate as a management company and that replacements for the departing staff would be joining shortly. There is discrepancy between the two parties as to whether all agents left of their own accord.

Thursday’s episode of Paramount+’s “Frasier” revival saw the return of Dr. Lilith Sternin – the ex-wife of Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and mother of Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) – as the two parents compete for their son’s affection during his birthday.
Showrunner Joe Cristalli (“Life In Pieces”) told TheWrap that “nothing was more enjoyable as a fan to watch” than seeing Grammer and Neuwirth’s characters go toe-to-toe zinging each other again.
“There’s a version of this show where ‘Oh, Lilith and Frasier are a little softer now, they found a nice balance and they’re starting to come around’ and no, that’s not the case,” Cristalli told TheWrap. “They’re still going at each other hard and it’s so fun to write for that. It’s so fun for such a specific voice to come up with these insults and jokes that nobody else can perform except for Kelsey and Bebe.

Warning: This story contains spoilers for the Frasier revival on Paramount+
In 2004, “Frasier” bid farewell to audiences. But that didn’t stop Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) from pursuing a dream of writing for the NBC sitcom.
“I started a Twitter feed [called Frasier for Hire] that was all about getting a job to write on Frasier, which is obviously insane because the show had been off the air for 10 years,” Cristalli, who is now the co-creator, co-executive producer and co-showrunner for Paramount+’s revival, told TheWrap. “But I basically was just doing Frasier jokes, kind of like the Modern Seinfeld guy, just these are dialogue snippets of what would be on the show now. And I did that to no acclaim for like three years. I think I got somewhere in the ballpark of 2,000 followers.”
A door opened when star Kelsey Grammer revealed publicly that he was interested in doing a reboot of the show.

In Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot, Kelsey Grammer’s iconic character has returned to Boston for his next chapter, as he looks to reconnect with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
The move finds the psychiatrist and former radio show host leave behind many beloved characters from the original NBC sitcom, including his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce). Earlier this year, Pierce revealed that he would not be reprising the role, which showrunners Chris Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) admitted was “a tough setback in the moment, but ultimately very freeing.”
“It let us build the show more organically from the ground up, focusing more on Frasier and Freddie’s relationship,” Harris told TheWrap. “The flip side of that is we don’t have several of the beloved characters that the original series had.”

Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, the showrunners behind Paramount+’s “Frasier” revival, have been bracing for how audiences react to the return of the beloved sitcom character. But they weren’t expecting the buzz to be about Frasier Crane’s wardrobe.
When Paramount+ revealed the key art for the new “Frasier,” which premieres Oct. 12, fans were up in arms … because the character was wearing jeans and Allbirds sneakers. Sure, the dressed-down look might be out of step for the Frasier Crane we knew on “Cheers” or the original “Frasier.” But this is “Frasier” 3.0.
“We love that people care,” Harris says. “It’s partly the times and it is also a little bit about how the character is more comfortable with who he is and where he is in life.” Adds Cristalli: “He’s not going to wear Armani suits anymore. It’s 2023. This is what fancy rich guys wear now — they wear comfortable clothes!

It’s Frasier Week at IndieWire. Grab some tossed salad and scrambled eggs, settle into your coziest easy chair, and join us. We’re listening.
Twenty years have passed since Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) has graced the small screen, but according to the Paramount+ series revival, the beloved sarcastic psychiatrist hasn’t changed a bit…just his surroundings, profession, close friends, and the actor playing his son have.

Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer at Disney Animation, confirmed this afternoon that work has quietly begun on a third edition in the company’s Frozen film franchise during a keynote session at the London Film Festival (Lff).
Lee — who was a writer and director on the first two Frozen films — was tightlipped about any specific details regarding the threequel, including timeframes and production status, but told the Lff audience that she is “blown away” by the work the studio already has in the can.
“All I’ll say is that last week, they carved out time for me to work with the creative team on it. And I’m blown away,” Lee said. “I’m so excited. I don’t know what I’m doing on it yet. I might be doing nothing.”

It is the latest streamer to remove titles from its service following similar moves by Paramount+, Disney+, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max and AMC Networks.
Roku revealed yesterday that it was set to remove some content as part of a cost-cutting drive that also saw around 300 employees laid off. It said that it would take a hit of between $55M-$65M for removing “select existing licensed and produced content from company-operated services on its TV streaming platform”.
The company will, however, continue to order original series and sources note that this process is part of its regular review of programming.

It’s Day 4 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 77 of the WGA strike.
“Discover the past, live the present and fight the future,” was an apt message from The X-Files‘ 1998 spinoff movie and it’s one that could be applied to the current actors and writers strike.
It seems timely, then, that some of those responsible for writing and starring in the long-running sci-fi hit, were outside Fox as part of an X-Files reunion.
Star David Duchovny told Deadline that there are so many issues to try and get through, particularly AI. “I think the powers that be have a lot on their plate right now with trying to figure out, kicking the can down the road with the AI stuff. What is it capable of? They’re philosophical questions,” he said.
Duchovny also highlighted streaming residuals. “We always worked in a business that rewarded success and didn’t want failure.

Additionally, this new take on the classic sitcom will star Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, the son of Frasier and Lilith; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan Cornwall, Frasier’s old college buddy who is now a professor; Anders Keith as David, Frasier’s nephew and the son of Niles and Daphne; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Freddy’s roommate; and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, the head of an Ivy League university’s psych department.
Gilpin will reprise her role as Roz Doyle, Frasier’s producer, as a guest star. It seems like that tossed salad and scrambled eggs are finally coming together.

Roku's Slip may present as a comedic story about a woman traveling to different dimensions through orgasms, but at its core, it's an exploration of female desire. Starring and created by Zoe Lister-Jones (Life in Pieces), Slip centers on Mae Cannon, a museum curator who has become restless in her 13-year-marriage to her soft-spoken college sweetheart, Elijah (Whitmer Thomas). When Mae reaches her breaking point and hooks up with a sexy musician (Amar Chadha-Patel), she wakes up in a parallel universe in which she's married to him — and just as dissatisfied with the way her life has turned out. As Mae enters new relationships in different worlds, she searches for a way back to Elijah, her "original" life, and her true self.

The new trailer for Beau is Afraid is pretty much everything you’d expect from an Ari Aster and A24 (Everything Everywhere All at Once) film. The trailer does a terrific job of teasing what’s in store without actually giving away any of the plot.
Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) leads the cast as the titular character. Emmy Award winner Nathan Lane (Only Murders in the Building), Oscar nominee Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), and three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone also star along with Stephen McKinley Henderson (Causeway), Hayley Squires (Great Expectations), Denis Ménochet (The Mauritanian), Kylie Rogers (Home Before Dark), Armen Nahapetian (Here and Now), and Zoe Lister-Jones (Life in Pieces).
A24 released this extremely basic synopsis: “A paranoid man goes on an epic odyssey in order to get back home in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer/director Ari Aster.

For most actors, winning an Oscar is seen as the absolute pinnacle of a Hollywood career. For a select group of performers, though, one simply isn’t enough.
There have been 44 different actors to have won multiple awards, the first coming in 1937 when Luise Rainer became the original two-time Oscar darling.
Some manage to win every time they are nominated. Others, such as the inimitable Meryl Streep, have careers peppered with nominations, winning only when the so-called narrative dictates.
In 2021, Anthony Hopkins took home his second statuette, for his role in The Father. The year before, Renée Zellweger took home her second Oscar after playing Judy Garland in Judy.
In 2020, Mahershala Ali picked up his second Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Best Picture winner Green Book. He previously won for Moonlight in 2017.
Here are the actors with the most Oscar wins.

Kelsey Grammer will not be the only returning star for the Frasier revival.
Paramount+ announced Wednesday that Bebe Neuwirth would reprise her role in the upcoming revival series.
The actress will appear in one episode as Lilith, featuring Freddy's (Jack Cutmore-Scott) birthday party.
"When they reunite, Lilith, in classic form, is far from pleased about having to share Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) now that Frasier is back living in Boston," reads the episode's description.
"What begins as a fun party with friends and family inevitably becomes a Lilith and Frasier showdown for the ages."
The Frasier revival nabbed a formal pickup in 2022, but the lack of original stars aside from Grammer was a cause for concern.
The actor revealed that David Hyde Pierce decided against revisiting his Niles Crane character.
The confirmed cast for the series includes Nicholas Lyndhurst (Goodnight Sweetheart), Toks Olagundoye (Castle), Jess Salgueiro (Y: The Last Man), and...

A familiar character will be returning for the Frasier sequel series. Bebe Neuwirth, who recurred as Lilith in the original series, will reprise the role in the Paramount+ follow-up, reuniting with Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) and Frasier (Kelsey Grammer).
From writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), the multi-camera comedy is executive produced by Grammer who is reprising his signature character, psychiatrist-turned-radio host Frasier Crane. The sequel sees Frasier (Grammer) off to a different city with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.
Neuwirth is the first confirmed original series cast member to join Grammer in the follow-up series.

The Frasier sequel at Paramount+ is adding a familiar face.
Bebe Neuwirth will guest star on the comedy, once again playing Frasier Crane’s (Kelsey Grammer) ex-wife, Lilith. Neuwirth won two Emmy Awards for the role during her time on Cheers and continued playing Lilith in a dozen episodes of Frasier’s original 1993-2004 run on NBC.
With Frasier moving back to Boston in the new series, he reunites with Lilith at a birthday party for their son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Lilith is less than pleased about having to share Freddy now that Frasier is back in town, eventually leading to a showdown between the two.
Neuwirth is the first actor from the show’s past to sign on to the new Frasier. David Hyde Pierce opted not to reprise his role as Niles, Frasier’s brother, and regulars Jane Leeves (Daphne) and Peri Gilpin (Roz) also haven’t signed on (John Mahoney,...
