The story of a teenage boy, his mother, and two other women who help raise him among the love and freedom of Southern California of 1979.
The film is set in 1979, and in one scene the son is reading stock values from the newspaper to his mother. He gives a value from the paper in a decimal format, e.g. 51.92, but the major U.S. stock exchanges didn't switch to the decimal format until early 2001. Before that, and in 1979, stocks were reported in units of 1/16th of a dollar, i.e., 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, . . . A stock value of 51.92 in 1979 would likely be reported and recorded as 51 & 15/16's.
You *cannot* let her *sleep* here if she's not having *sex* with you. It's disempowering.
Black Flag's 'Nervous Breakdown' EP was released five months before the scene in which it appears, but the 10" pressing shown did not appear until the '90s.
