The coroner finds traces of tear gas in the young woman's eyes. Sophie was serving as a member of the jury at Fabien Beynac's trial, accused of the murder of his associate. Delcourt and Meyer must question the other members of the jury.

The judges quickly discover that the victim had been living in Marseille under a false identity for years. Her prints correspond to those of Aurore Chassagne, a young girl who mysteriously disappeared in 2000 in the vicinity of Nice.

Fabrice Vernon, famous personal trainer and adventurer, is found stabbed with an awl in the cabin of his boat at jetty no. 3 of Marseille port. Vernon, who went to Lycée with Barth Meyer, was in town for a lecture in a bookstore and decided to stay the night on the boat. Only witness, a drunken Dutchman declares a motorcycle fled from the crime scene. The police rule out robbery and focus on Vernon's clients. Barth shows up at the Palais de Justice to state that he was with Fabrice that evening and that someone was insistently calling him on his mobile.

The deceased worked in a bank branch and had received anonymous threatening letters, so the first investigations of the judges are directed towards the culprits.
