I have rarely seen a movie that explained so little. Everything was fine some suspense, mystery and a promise to learn who Honeybee and her 5 boys were, where they were from and what they were doing in their new hometown. No such luck... Lots of cryptic clues waiting for all to be revealed then...nothing a big fat nothing. Another movie in the long line of movies that keep the viewer waiting but reveal nothing. So frustrating as I waited for the final reveal. My advice to this type of movie maker...

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IS IN YOUR HEAD, JUST TELL US

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IS IN YOUR HEAD, JUST TELL US
  • They proceed to catch a girl each at school, including herself. Her daddy even falls for the gorgeous mama. Only thing is - seems like her own hunk is the only once with a conscience. The rest of the family simply obeys their vampiric needs. Guess who has to stop them.

I had a friend who worked on the crew and I just watched this and let me tell you, as a fan of horror/comedy I had thoroughly enjoyed it. I was never bored, I don't think I got up once from watching it on my laptop which says something. I loved how it looked! I was like wow, I'm from upstate NY and this movie makes it look the most beautiful place in the world. Yet it there were dark undertones there the whole time since you know... it doesn't end well! So spoiler alert, the brothers are a LOT older than they claim to be, especially the twins who are actually the oldest and shown in an old newspaper clipping. They're basically like drones taking care of their mother, the "Queen Bee" and feeding cute girls to her so she can stay ageless. I'm never sure if she would die without feeding or if she is choosing to feed? Anyway, it was awesome and I thought completely obvious. I want to see what this Writer would do if they had a big budget!
  • the only reason i gave this a 1 is due to the fact you cant choose 0. the film it self looks as though it was shot with a VHS camera, the acting was not convincing at all...looked more like a bunch of kids role playing at recess. slow, predictable, unoriginal..a completely, for lack of a better word, stupid antagonist, the boys in this film are by no means ugly, but the film tries to hard to be "hip" and wardrobe made very bad choices with all of them! man buns, top knots and shaved side for everyone...complete tripe. how the hell this is sitting at 6.4 or whatever is beyond me, and i do, for the most part, like a good B horror movie...this isn't it... avoid this turkey at all costs...don't believe the ratings, don't believe anyone that tells you it's good, cuz it ain't, and you don't need those types of friends!

This movie is so bad that i had to create an account on IMDb to give a clear warning to others about how much i hated that movie and plus i see that it's rating was 8/10 so that give me a push to watch it but i can't even begin to describe how i was disappointed . Right from the beginning i knew that is a disaster and i was not wrong by any means it's like half an hour passed and you could not think other than how they spent money on this and then ask your self the real question why am i watching this . So to be brief it's not a horror movie if they were trying to make one and you will be a hero if you could go on and complete it.

    Warning: Spoilers
What a terrible movie. I just wasted my time. 1 star only.
  • Please ignore all the good reviews about this piece of trash! The reason why I just created my account with IMDb was to give this friendly and honest advise! Do not watch this crap! I really can't understand the positive rates! They all must be from relatives of the actors or something like that.... or people are just really stupid..
  • I could even get past the amateurish filming of the thing, and it goes along for awhile where if you get past that its not too bad, but still nothing is happening.

Then when things actually start to happen the whole thing goes completely off the rails. Amateurish 'fight' scenes, bad editing, ridiculous jumps in logic to just plain no rationale at all...

As is my custom its not a 1 if I make it through... but I wish I'd moved on once it started to get bad.

Stumbled upon this on Amazon and thought it was a fun, campy movie. Both female leads - especially the one who played the daughter - did a good job. The five sons were all cool, though the oldest looked a littttle old for being in high school. I couldn't decide if the non-twin blonde brother was a cutie or a creepy - actually he probably played the roll perfectly.

What I also liked is that I could watch this with my teenager without worrying about covering her eyes (or her trying to cover my eyes). Is this Citizen Kane? No. Is this a fun, scary movie for this time of the year (October)? Sure!

This was extremely horrible. The acting was horrible. The plot was horrible and I can't believe I sat through this. I ended the pain with 10 minutes left and I'll never think about this movie again. Holy crap, if anyone gives this movie more than a 2.....and that's being super generous and they are completely lying to you. I watch well over 500 movies per year (all genres) and rate them in IMDB for my own purposes..........basically so I can remember what I watch and didn't. I have never once left a review but this movie made me have to warn others not to waste your time. Go for a run, watch the news (ugh), punch yourself in the face.....I don't care but don't watch this trash.
  • I don't get the bad reviews it's a low budget with a couple of known actors. I love B movies and this is one of good ones. most B movies I watch because they're so bad they're funny. But this kept a mystery to it. What are this people doing next door to her? Why is the mom so protective? Why can no one resist them? Are they vampires? or something else? It didn't answer all the questions like most horror/thrillers. So they can make a sequel. The ending was a nice twist.

OK so this was actually really good and I even made an IMDb account just to write a review for this because I am HOPING someone on the movie sees it and can answer my questions or at least like make a wiki page that tells the whole plot so I can see if I'm missing stuff. So my sister and I rented it on amazon and we didn't even pause it, it was so good. Right away I was like omg something crazy is gonna happen, I know it, and is Kadin bad? Is he good? Is he lying to Hilarie to get her to his mom? Is his mom a witch? What is happening! It was so good. And the acting was so much better than so many movies we watch. There was like some corny stuff that annoyed me, like the high school felt so sad and boring and like who would want to be in high school there it's so lame and my high school people are always screaming and getting in trouble so that wasn't realistic. But I like the ending a lot even though it was so sad it was gooooood. My question is though WHAT exactly ARE THEY!!???? I think I figured it out but I am not sure. Also I would like to know about some of the guy actors in real life....
  • I had a blast watching this especially because I know the area it was filmed and I loved how gorgeous everything looked and could tell they filmed in June which is the month the story takes place in so the crazy weather was fitting. I thought the acting was good and the chemistry between the red haired son and the girl Hilary was SO believable I wonder if they were actually together. I also liked the relationship of the girl Hilary with her Dad and how it wasn't stereotypical like other movies where they fight all the time. While I do have some questions and I took a point away because I really wanted a bit more goriness I have it all figured out and am wondering why the other reviewers didn't... My 9 year old figured it out so .. Just saying. For us this was fun and I would watch again.

This movie is bad on so many levels. Acting, well they did OK for what they had to deal with. Plot, lame. No backing story at all. It had some suspense but nothing unpredictable or edge of your seat. By the time it actually gets going, the plot holes triple in size. When the stranger who has been hunting them for a long time (another vague part) appears to finally confront his nemesis. All he brings is a metal pipe. (really) oh my, he failed and got killed. Shocking! Then the overly used, twist ending. Our main character becomes the next honeybee. No one knows why. By then, I am sure no one cares. I gave this an extra star because 3 of the sons seemed so gay yet had female dates to the dance. LOL It was nice to not see PC propaganda for a change. Sadly, that was the only redeeming part to this flic.

I really dug the whole vibe of this. It has a great soundtrack and feels like you have dived into a book with its amazing colors and characters. The movie leaves some questions unanswered but basically its a family of long living creatures like a honeybee/vampire type of thing. The sons purposely look older because they are art least 100 yrs old (the mother even older) and the mother prefers to eat teenage girls because they give her the most vitality. The ending was NOT predictable which I like really appreciated and the acting was good by the leads! The side actors were like ... so so. The main 2 characters had the best chemistry I have ever seen and the Dad and Mother actually were amazing. I want to go live wherever this movie was filmed! I took 3 stars bc of unanswered questions and bc they killed off a character I loved (boo). But this was a blast!

    Warning: Spoilers
The name of the movie is odd, because there isn't any queen bee in the story. When you finally get to the part where the young girls are being killed. They are being sucked dry, I got the impression it was a vampire movie much different than your average vampire movie though.

It was very strange and sad too. But there is a surprise at the ending, making you wonder if the cycle is going to start all over. But I don't think it will.

It does take awhile before the girl next door figures out what is happening. By that time her father is dead and she all alone in her house. Because one of the sons falls in love with the girl next door. He helps to save her in the end.
  • I'm going to level with you. This film is not without its flaws. But what it lacks in production value it more than makes up for with great casting, clever dialogue, and a well-developed story. Not everything is explained, there's no great backstory, but this is not that type of film. The story we see is enough without having to explain the history of the characters (even though we do get a little of that).

What I loved about this quirky B-horror/comedy flick was the electrical chemistry of the cast (seriously, it was so fun watching them hang out), the fun 80's-style music (complete with a cameo from the GoGo's Jane Wiedlin!), and a slow-burn style story that pushes to a solid climax.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It is hard to discuss this film without making plot spoiler comparisons, but I will try. A small quiet town has a new family. Louisa (Suzanne Jaehne) has moved in with five high school sons (1 set of twins but I still have trouble with the math). The neighbor girl Hillary (Connie Saltzman) seen on the DVD cover, has taken a shine to the red head Kadin (Garrett Richmond) who likewise likes her. Kadin and his four overly pale blonde brothers attend General Brown High School where the girls openly swoon over them. Hillary's widower father is attracted to Louisa.

We know this is not a normal family. The film gives us an opening clue with missing girl flyers during the credit segment. It is not too hard to figure out, but the film is covert about it. This is a decent low budget film, which seems to be aimed at teen girls.

Guide: 2 F-words that I caught. No sex or nudity.

I actually didn't choose this one, my partner did, and she was kind of watching it on her own and then I just had to start watching with her (instead of doing work like I was meant to be doing). I think for us it was fun because we both figured out different things like she instantly saw things I did not and vise versa and actually I appreciated that the writer didn't just assume only braindead people would be watching, thus giving us all the answers in an easy to open box. But I still had questions, and not sure how they will be answered? I am really hoping someone starts a wikipedia page to answer it all. But this didn't ruin it the flick was fun and I loved the ending and how it wasn't all sappy-happy. I disagree that it looked like it was filmed on VHS to me I could tell this was one nice camera and I think it looked as good as the shows I watch on Netflix. Were there some kind of corny moments? Oh yeah especially with one of the actors who kind of got on my nerves but most of the acting was really good. Would I watch it again? Meh, if I were in the right mood maybe? I wouldn't spend more than $6 on it.
  • I just gave Pet a 6; it was a great movie- an easy 8- well made production, brilliantly acted, filmed etc. Progressive plot line and script but a last "scene" that was sooo predicable for a thriller and out of context with the plot, that it gets the same rating as this, 6. In Honeybee, 90% of the acting sucked, nearly 1/2 the scenes were poorly lit or over lit, obviously not enough of a budget to refilm slightly flubbed scenes. But altogether I found it cohesive and entertaining. It too had the predictable last scene for a B thriller, but it fit perfectly. So enjoy this 6! PS, the starring characters pulled off there parts well.

This is for sure a B horror movie so don't expect a lot of crazy special effects or anything. I actually appreciated that because I'm so distracted by them when they aren't done right. It looked like in this movie the brothers were actually fighting and that being said, the fight scenes were very well done and didn't drag out too long either. It had a kind of rawness to it. However someone of it was really campy like the the cliché of a small town and a boring high school. Yeah yeah yeah we get it, it's a small town. The math teacher who is a punk rocker in real life was actually a nice wink. The acting overall was pretty good and the film LOOKS really nice. It doesn't look like a horror movie it looks like a sweet romance. The story was unique and I did not guess the ending so for me, that means it's good. But I have a lot of issues with not having all the answers and again, the cliché of the small town. How OLD is Louisa actually? Are the twins actually the oldest brothers? Is Hilary now like Louisa in the end and will have to live that way? A very fun film though, I give it 6 out of 10.

I really enjoyed this movie. No it does not give everything away, but you can just read the main review that IMDB provides to get your answers. They are Vampires btw. It was done amazingly well for such a low budget and I hope to see a lot of these actors/actresses again in the future. My main gripe is the lack of gore. I am kind of a gore queen, but still a great movie. Also Female Writer/Director and Female Cinematographer, not to mention strong female leads on both the good and Evil side! Worth a watch, and worth a bargain been pick up to own as a horror fan as well!

Just full disclosure, I know two people who worked on this and one of the them is the Director/Writer whom I have read other work from as she did some script doctoring and another is a crew member. That being said I told them I would give an honest review and I couldn't just give it 10 stars unless I felt that way. However, I loved it, I just loved it... But it has flaws and I could not give it 10 stars. It does deserve 7 though. If you are someone that needs all of the answers and doesn't like to imagine things then no, this will bug you. If you like to chat with your friends about a movie afterward or you loved the Sopranos Finale then you will love this. The acting is so good, I just couldn't believe it. They rose the bar way high for other indie films - way way high. Great directing, great acting, and great fight scenes. But come on, you have to give us some more answers! That is my only let down and enough to take 3 stars away. The camera work - perfection. The sound was fine, could have been better, but editing was really good and I don't even know how they made this on this small budget. Seriously, that takes talent alone. So if you like movies like "It Follow" or "Lights Out" or "Lost Boys" or "Bullet Proof" or "SleepWalkers" you will eat this up.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The director had good taste when they were casting the actors. The family of boys and their mom actually look so much alike, and they move alike, they sound alike, and that is sweet because in other movies when they don't look alike its hard for me to follow the story because I don't believe anything. But in this I was like looking up everybody to see whose related to each other. The actress playing Hilary I would like to ask her hand in marriage, oh swerve doe, she was amazing. Some of the acting was kind of cheesy with the blond girls but maybe they were supposed to be stereotyped like that or something? I figured out the family is like a group of creatures and they go from town to town quietly so the mother can feed and they're all sneaky and charming. I bought it and it's good and I'll watch it again.
  • I was so excited to see Jane from the GoGo's in this and I would have killed to have her as my math teacher. This movie was gorgeous, a work of art, beautiful like a watercolor painting, that I even forgot I was watching a horror movie. By the end it reminded me with a major violent, shocking end to the story that was sad, but also satisfying. This for me was totally like the movies "Lost Boys" put together with a bit of Chic Flicks and add some "Stranger Things" and I love HoneyBee for being the first horror movie recently to get into the whole 80s vibe again and set the tone. Love it!
