For me this is a very strong episode for the character development of both Jimmy and Kim, particularly in relation to their life choices.
In relation to Jimmy the writers spell out some of his character's motivation and the backstory scene shown before the opening credits is great. One reviewer who has possibly missed some of the visual clues in other episodes leading up to Inflatable seems to think what Jimmy does has come sudden and without enough build up, but I think the timing is perfect. It would have been drawn out of the writers to keep him the previous position for longer.
I love all the comedy associated with his conduct in Davis and Main. Bob Odenkirk has immense delivery and timing, plus the filmmakers give him the best platform to deliver some of great visual gags.
This is a key episode for Kim and their entwined stories in this plot is compelling. I loved that moment when she makes the freudian name slip and her sequence of reflection with the cigarette is a great visual.
As Breaking Bad's Mike would say you feel the characters (including Mike) are all taking a "half-measure" approach to their lives currently and you feel a sense of dread for what might be coming. The applies particularly to Kim as at this point in the story her fate is unknown.
