The WWE has officially announced a 32 competitor Women’s Tournament that will appear on the WWE Network this summer. The tournament was announced at a business presentation the WWE gave to business partners called “WWE Reimagined”. Raw Women’s Champion Bayley, Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, and Nxt Women’s Champion Asuka were a part of the presentation.
This is a big moment in women’s wrestling history. For the first time, the WWE is getting behind their female superstars in a way that puts them on the same level with the male superstars. With performers like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, and others, the level of talent on the women’s roster is unparalleled. The only issue I have with the women’s division is that, with the brand split, they have had few match ups they could offer, giving the audience a lot of repetition.

Someone send a car for voodoo-master Papa Shango: WWE’s “WrestleMania” will return to New Orleans next year. “We are excited to bring ‘WrestleMania’ back to Louisiana,” Governor John Bel Edwards said on Tuesday. “This is a great event being hosted in one of the greatest cities in the world. Shane McMahon’s still got it. Well, “it” maybe minus the ability to walk for much longer. The WWE “SmackDown Live” commissioner and occasional daredevil wrestler just jumped from the top turnbuckle to the announce table, driving Braun Strowman through the surface and to the floor. The sensational elbow drop would eventually eliminate Team Raw’s big(gest) guy, thanks to an assist from “SmackDown Live” mascot James Ellsworth. Ellsworth would badly pay the price for his helping hand, however. On his way out, Strowman flung the little guy off the entrance ramp stage and through a table. If you are an old school fan of Ecw there are certain factions and stars that tend to stand out. For me the Dudley Boyz were one such faction. In Ecw, WWE, and beyond they created a pathway to destruction that has made them one of the best tag teams in history. Straight Outta Dudleyville: The Legacy of the Dudley Boyz gives the WWE version of this history.
As is usual in these types of sets, we get a short documentary about Bubba Ray and D-Von looking at how they got into wrestling, all the way up to their return to the WWE. The documentary is fun, and even gives part of the history that some fans may be unaware of. While the documentary may feel a little short, it pays respect not only to their Ecw years, but even dares to mention Bubba’s success in Tna.

There is never a good time for injury when you are a WWE superstar, but Neville’s recent setback was especially frustrating for hm. “The Man Gravity Forgot” was set to be a part of WrestleMania 32 before fracturing his ankle in a match on Raw against Chris Jericho. Fans who follow WWE’s weakly – oops, I mean weekly – programming have seen how this year’s road to WrestleMania has been one of the most disappointing in company history, but surely the last Raw (one airing from WWE’s New York backyard, no less) would deliver the goods.
In the end, a Raw that should have been a grand slam was a single at best, maybe a hit-by-pitch. Thankfully for WWE, it doesn’t even matter. The company has concocted a business model where Pay-Per-View buys aren’t a factor, and so there are no immediate consequences to their bad management. Outside of stock numbers,...

On April 3, Chris Jericho will return to WrestleMania, for a showdown with Aj Styles in what should be the culmination of their intense rivalry. The bout will present Y2J with his latest opportunity to steal the show, some 16 years after he first set foot on the grandest stage known to sports entertainment.
Over the course of his WWE career, he has battled some of the most iconic superstars in the industry, delivering performances that have helped establish him as one of the most celebrated professional wrestlers of his generation.
Not every match was the classic fans had hoped, but there were also those that far exceeded expectations. Above all else, Jericho understands the stature and importance of the event and has never had anything even close to a bad match at The Showcase of the Immortals.

The WWE SmackDown viewership numbers are in for the March 17 episode and they showed an improvement this week over last week’s broadcast (though still below what the show drew on March 3). This has to be considered a positive for WWE considering SmackDown aired on St. Patrick’s Day.
The number of people who go out to celebrate the holiday on March 17 is astronomical, so the fact that WWE drew more viewers this week than last is impressive.
SmackDown garnered 2.260 million viewers this week. Last week’s show, which was the lowest viewership drawn by WWE since SmackDown moved to the USA Network, pulled in 2.186 million viewers. This week’s show featured an outstanding match between Kevin Owens and Aj Styles; a match that many people hoped would be a highlighted bout this year at WrestleMania 32. With just a couple of weeks remaining until WrestleMania 32, there’s still one conspicuous hole left to be filled in the event’s card; an Intercontinental Championship match.
Kevin Owens is of course the reigning champion. And the fact that he’s been dubbing the show Ko-Mania in recent weeks would suggest that there are indeed some kind of plans in the works for both him and his title. What exactly those plans entail, though, very much remains to be seen.
Currently, the smart money seems to be on some kind of multi-man match—similar to the one we were treated to last year in Santa Clara.
But who exactly would be involved in such a showdown, should it eventually come to fruition?

It used to be that the Intercontinental Championship would be afforded a glamour position every WrestleMania. As the belt that was fought over by prospective future WWE Champions, the Ic title was worth a prominent spot when the big card rolled around.
Once WWE officially adopted the World Heavyweight Title to fortify the brand split, the Intercontinental Championship began to increasingly lose its value. Since WrestleMania 18 in 2002, the belt has only been defended at WrestleMania on four occasions, one of which was a pre-show bout.
Gone were the days of the Intercontinental strap being the ‘workhorse’ belt. Instead, the champion would often be inserted into multi-man ladder matches or battle royals that he wouldn’t win. For the second straight week, WWE Raw’s television viewership decreased as compared to the previous week’s show. As the company heads into the homestretch in their build toward WrestleMania 32, this is the opposite of what typically happens during WrestleMania season. Rather than building interest in the show, the television ratings show people tuning out of WWE’s weekly flagship show.

Not every major booking decision that unfolds on WWE television has to make sense within the context of a given storyline. Throughout the company’s long and illustrious history, some of the greatest and most memorable moments have been the result of some serious off-the-wall booking.
They are moments that shocked audiences, leaving them either sat in stunned silence or full throat as they witness history.
Some were inconceivable losses. Others were inexplicable victories, the result of power plays that did more harm than good. Still others were unimaginable, cross-promotional occurrences that had never been seen before and, most likely, will not be seen again. They are rare in nature, and generally pack a big emotional punch whenever they do occur.
Recently, the road to WrestleMania 32 produced another such occurrence when the prodigal son, Shane McMahon, returned to the sports-entertainment world for the first time in seven years.

Many pro wrestling fans seem to agree that Shane McMahon is going to do some crazy things come WrestleMania 32. After all, pretty much any time the McMahon son has entered the ring, he has enjoyed throwing his body around to try and steal the show. Big stunts and falls have become a hallmark of his in-ring appearances, and the lure of coming off the Hell In A Cell structure may be too great for Shane.
Some have their reservations over the match, but most fans generally feel it’ll be an interesting watch. The Raw / Smackdown brand split could potentially be returning.
PWInsider are reporting that there has been backstage talk on the idea for a few weeks now. At this stage, there’s no specifics on what was discussed or when the idea would come to fruition. However, with the recent return of Shane McMahon, fans are speculating that the angle could come in the wake of WrestleMania season.
The timing of Smackdown’s January move to USA Network is also a factor in this. WWE had promised a revitalised brand, but so far, Smackdown has been pretty much the same old show. A brand split would really add to its value.
But that doesn’t mean the split is definitely going to happen. A big concern for WWE has to be the talent roster, which while very skilled, isn’t quite as star packed as what WWE had a decade ago.

It’s that time of the year again, when WWE smarks make outlandish predictions for the upcoming WrestleMania which have almost zero per cent chance of ever happening.
While select WWE fans still cling to the hope of Cm Punk making a grand return before WrestleMania 32, others are frantically trying to figure out how Goldberg could fit into their fantasy card which includes the debuts of Finn Balor and Baylor soon before The Rock has an impromptu match with Stone Cold Steve Austin for the Hardcore Championship.
So maybe some of the fantasy-booked cards out there aren’t that bad, but you get the idea.
It’s highly unlikely anything more earth shattering than Shane McMahon returning will happen in the lead-up to WrestleMania 32, but there are still five weeks of WWE programming to go before what has been dubbed ‘the biggest WrestleMania ever’ in the Dallas Cowboys’ home of At&T Stadium.
