When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back.
Of the many nods to Stephen King in this series, one of the most obvious is in episode 1.4, Stranger Things: Chapter Four: The Body (2016), when the kids travel a significant stretch along the railroad tracks. Much of the story in the film Stand by Me (1986) (and in the novella it is based on, titled "The Body"), includes kids traveling along railroad tracks.
Friends don't lie.
When laboratory workers use hazard suits, there's clearly bright blue or white LEDs lighting up the face of the wearer. However, white LEDs were possible only since 1994 when Shuji Nakamura discovered high brightness blue LED, which emit white light when covered in phosphor coating.
The Stranger Things opening titles and fonts mimic the film grain and look of 1980's television series opening credits.
