Once upon a time, we were expecting a high-profile feature film at Universal Pictures with Julia Garner (“Ozark”) playing Madonna in a biopic that the iconic pop star was developing in hopes of directing herself. There is now a limited Netflix series in the works as Madonna will instead team up with Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”).

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have officially announced the title of the sixth Monsterverse film: Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Production is now underway in Queensland, Australia, for a 2027 release.

The announcement follows the global success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which became the highest-grossing entry in the franchise and the biggest Godzilla film of all time. Released in 2024, the film earned $571.9 million at the global box office, with $196.4 million coming from domestic theaters and $375.5 million from international markets.

The next MonsterVerse movie has a title. Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the subtitle for its next Godzilla x Kong, which seems to hint at what awaits the fan-favorite Titans in their next big-screen adventure.

The studio has shared an ominous first teaser for Godzilla x Kong, showing a Monarch call center office. The camera pans to one of the desks as the following warning flashes on the computer screen: "[Emergency Alert] – Severe. To Report a Titan Sighting, Call (240) Monarch." If fans respond to Monarch's call to action and dial the number, they will be treated to a recorded message from someone who works for the Monarch Community Support Hotline, asking them to "Press 1 to receive messages from the Monsterverse." "I could not be more honoured to be directing The Engagement Party, a film with an extremely important and timely message. Watch the Skies is a fully Swedish production. You’d have no idea the film was originally shot in Swedish, though, thanks to a new form of AI technology. Ultimately, this technology will overshadow the conversation surrounding the film. Tech aside, director Victor Danell has crafted a pretty interesting and audacious sci-fi adventure about UFOs. It’s a worthwhile watch with some Spielbergian spectacle, especially for those interested in how foreign films could evolve moving forward.

Originally shot in Swedish, Watch the Skies uses a technology called TrueSync, developed by the startup Flawless. Once the actors have fully dubbed over the film in English, TrueSync allows their lips to visually match the vocal performance in post-production.

The film does itself a disservice by proudly advertising as “the world’s first AI-dubbed film.” The AI isn’t doing the dubbing, only assisting in aligning the dub with the actors’ mouth movements.

We have very high hopes for Netflix's Tudum 2025 event coming at the end of the month! The celebrations are a great way to highlight some of the streamer's most popular shows with fans, and provide us with release dates, sneak peeks, and more deets to highly-anticipated seasons we're waiting for. One of those is Stranger Things season 5.

Unsurprisingly, the streamer has stayed very tight-lipped with details about the sci-fi horror's final season. Yes, we've gotten some updates regarding when to expect it - 2025 - and some fun behind-the-scenes footage of the cast and crew when filming wrapped. Though we really don't have any other details. The wait between seasons for Stranger Things never gets easier. Especially now with Stranger Things season 5 being the last, the anticipation is higher than ever. It's been a long time not knowing when the release date for the final season would be. And the wait unfortunately continues. Though previous seasons, other than season 2, have come out in May or July, I really don't think that's going to be the case this time around. Filming on season 5 wrapped back in December 2024.
