Ozark star would 'most likely' still play Madonna after biopic's major move to Netflix
Image
Get into the groove! Madonna's long-gestating biopic has officially taken on a new shape and landed at a brand-new home. The project once destined to bring the Queen of Pop's life story to the big screen has now substantially expanded its reach in more ways than one.

On May 12, Deadline reported that Madonna has now teamed with Netflix to create a limited series based on her life. The developing series will be executive produced by Stranger Things producer and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. See? The scope has shifted dramatically from a movie to a multi-episode limited series. More Madonna! And she's brought in the best of the best.

That's not even the best part, at least not the part that has me the most excited. When Madonna's biopic was still in development as a film, a number of young actresses were vying for the coveted part, with three-time...

Prime Video reveals Fallout season 2 release window (and it's sooner than we thought)
Image
It's been a good week for Fallout news! Just days after Prime Video revealed production on season 2 had come to an end, Prime Video announced Fallout season 3 is already in the works during the Amazon Upfronts presentation on Monday, May 12.

Still, that wasn't even the biggest news about Fallout that Prime Video revealed!

According to Amazon, Fallout season 2 will premiere on Prime Video in December 2025. That's the news everyone should be talking about, especially since we were concerned that Fallout season 2 would not be released until 2026. While we still don't know the premiere date yet, this is obviously good news for fans of the series. We don't have to wait nearly as long as we thought we would! That rarely happens in the streaming age, which features long gaps between seasons.

It's a quick turnaround for production on the post-apocalyptic series, but Prime Video seems confident that they can make it happen.

Madonna Biopic Series With Shawn Levy in the Works at Netflix: Report
Image
The Queen of Pop might be getting her own TV series. Music icon Madonna is working with Shawn Levy to develop a limited series at Netflix, according to a new report by Deadline.

Levy and Madonna have been talking about working together for some time, according to the report, and the series is unrelated to a paused film biopic that was being developed at Universal with Julia Garner in the lead role. (That film was put on an indefinite hold ahead of her massive Celebration tour.)

Shawn Levy is the...

Levitation, Murder, Mind Flayers And Tenderness Are All In A Day’s Work On ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ — Tony Watch Q&a With Louis McCartney
Image
Louis – he pronounces it Louie – McCartney had only recently learned the name of the young actor who, 28 years before McCartney was born in Nothern Ireland, won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, becoming the youngest to ever do so. “It was something ‘First,’” McCartney tells me, and, prompted, I say Firth. Peter Firth, for Equus.

“Yes,” McCartney responds excitedly. “Peter Firth, 1975!”

Now, 50 years after Firth’s historic win at just 21 years old, McCartney is up for the same award at the same age for his powerful, funny and terrifying performance in Stranger Things: The First Shadow. A newcomer to the stage, McCartney, a strikingly quirky looking young man has just the slightest resemblance to a Beatle with whom he doesn’t share a name – the young Ringo Starr.

McCartney’s unassuming looks are perfect for Henry Creel, the lead role and major driver of the spooky and...

Inside the bold new project from Madonna and a Stranger Things visionary
Image
Madonna has been a music icon for 40 years. She might not have produced the vast number of hits she did in the 1980s, but she knows how to pull in her crowd. Any gigs she does are sure to be noteworthy. But a biopic of her? That appears to be difficult to make.

A feature film reportedly starring Jennifer Garner has been in the works for some time. The problem is that Garner will eventually have to look elsewhere for work, and her commitment to the project might, in essence, time out. She would seemingly make a great Madonna, but someone else might have to fill that role.

Or will they? What could occur is that Garner transitions from a feature film about Madonna to a limited series about the brilliant musical artist and trendsetter. That is because Deadline reports that the Queen of Pop will work with Stranger Things...

Madonna Limited Series in the Works at Netflix from Shawn Levy
Image
Shawn Levy is reportedly gearing up to helm a limited series about the life and career of Madonna for Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy’s production company 21 Laps has begun work developing the project as part of their overall deal with the streamer. Netflix, Levy, and Madonna have all yet to comment on the direction of the series or when it might be released.

There have been several previous efforts to adapt Madonna’s story for the screen. Recently, Universal Pictures was in the early stages of producing a film version with Julia Garner reportedly being considered as the frontrunner for the starring role, though the movie was ultimately scrapped in early 2023. Last year, Madonna made a post on Instagram hinting that a new cinematic or television project may be in the works.

Levy’s filmography includes titles like Stranger Things, The Perfect Couple, All the Light We Cannot See,...

Madonna is working on adapting her life story into a limited series for Netflix.

The iconic pop star has teamed with “Stranger Things” producer and director Shawn Levy on a series about her life and career. The project is still in development, but if it comes to fruition, it will be Levy’s latest title with Netflix.

The filmmaker and producer’s 21 Laps has an overall deal with the streaming giant. Levy himself, meanwhile, has directed and produced a number of past Netflix shows and films, including “Stranger Things,” 2023’s “All the Light We Cannot See” and the Ryan Reynolds sci-fi vehicle “The Adam Project.”

He is currently attached to direct the Ryan Gosling-led “Star Wars: Starfighter” for Lucasfilm.

Madonna has been trying for years to get a biopic about her life and career off the ground. Julia Garner was previously said to be a frontrunner to play the...

Madonna & Shawn Levy Behind Netflix Limited Series Exploring Iconic Pop Star’s Life
Image
Once upon a time, we were expecting a high-profile feature film at Universal Pictures with Julia Garner (“Ozark”) playing Madonna in a biopic that the iconic pop star was developing in hopes of directing herself. There is now a limited Netflix series in the works as Madonna will instead team up with Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”).

Garner is no longer a lock for the role, as there isn’t a deal in place to play Madonna as the project is starting from scratch at Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment and won’t be just a re-packaged version of that previous movie attempt.

Madonna’s Life Story to Be Adapted Into Netflix Limited Series from Shawn Levy — Report
Image
Madonna might be appearing on the small screen soon. The iconic singer will be at the center of a Netflix limited series about her life and music, according to a new Deadline report. Netflix did not confirm the project to IndieWire.

Per Deadline, Madonna will executive produce alongside “Stranger Things” EP Shawn Levy, whose 21 Laps banner has an exclusive TV overall deal at Netflix. Madonna is repped by CAA, Maverick Management, Untitled Entertainment, and Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks. Levy and 21 Laps are repped by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

As Deadline noted, the slated series is not affiliated with the long-gestating film biopic about the “Like a Virgin” icon; that film was previously in development at Universal with Emmy winner Julia Garner set to portray Madonna as of June 2022.

Yet, Deadline cited the rumor that despite the project being separate from the feature, Garner could still be cast in the lead,...

Madonna Biopic Miniseries In Development At Netflix With Stranger Things Director
Image
A Madonna biopic miniseries is in development from the singer herself at Netflix, with a Stranger Things director attached to the project. A biopic about Madonna was originally in development for a theatrical release from Universal Pictures, with Julia Garner attached to star as the famous musician. However, plans for the movie fell through in January 2023, with Madonna later committing to her "The Celebration Tour," a worldwide series of concerts from late 2023 to mid-2024. Since then, there hasn't been any news on if an upcoming music biopic would feature the singer in any capacity.

Now, according to Variety, Madonna is teaming up with Netflix and Stranger Things director Shawn Levy to create a miniseries about her life as a musician. The show is in early development at the streaming platform, but is expected to showcase many aspects of her musical fame. It is currently unclear what the focus of the series will be,...

Are Netflix orignals losing ground to the competition?
Image
New data from Luminate shows that Netflix original shows are losing viewership and market share.

Netflix may be the leader in global streaming, but even this juggernaut service is not completely invincible. New data from Luminate’s Streaming Viewership report shows that Netflix original shows and movies are seeing declines in viewership, and the streamer’s original TV shows are also losing market share to other services. While the world’s largest streamer still dwarfs its competition, this could indicate that Netflix is doing something wrong, but it could also be a sign that the service’s competitors are starting to catch up.

Key Details: Viewership down, but share up: Netflix original movies gained 12% viewership market share in 2024. TV slump: Both viewership and market share of Netflix original TV shows have fallen in 2022. Flexing their muscle: Smaller streamers like Paramount+ and Peacock have been gaining on Netflix. Her other credits include Inside Out 2 (as the voice of Anxiety), Wildcat, which she starred in and co-produced, Maestro, The Good Lord Bird, Little Women, and more.

This is not related to the biopic that Madonna has been working on for years, according to the report.

Keep reading to find out more…

Madonna Limited Series From Shawn Levy in the Works at Netflix
Image
After stops and starts on a biopic about her life and career, Madonna is turning to the limited series format to tell her story.

The music icon is teaming with producer and director Shawn Levy on a series project at Netflix. The limited series in the early stages of development at the streamer, where Levy’s 21 Laps company has an overall deal.

Netflix declined comment.

The Netflix project is not related to previous efforts to mount a feature film about Madonna. Julia Garner was considered the frontrunner to play Madonna in the film, which was set up at Universal Pictures but was scuttled in early 2023. Madonna hinted last year, via a social media post, that she was again at work on the film.

Since the development process is in its early days, it’s not clear whether the potential Netflix series would span Madonna’s entire life and career or a specific period within it.

‘Lupin’ Returning for Season 4
Image
We don’t have to say au revoir to Lupin, merci.

Part four of the hit series is already in production in Paris, Netflix said on Monday; it will consist of eight 45-minute episodes. Omar Sy is back as Assane Diop, “the gentleman thief who has captured the hearts of viewers in France and around the world,” as Netflix likes to tell us.

Lupin was created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan; Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer and Tigran Rosine also participated in the formation of the series, which is inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin character.

Rosine, Meyer, Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud and Pennda Ba are the series’ writers; Sy and Louis Leterrier are showrunners.

“I often say that Lupin is an extraordinary plaything. I find great joy in it every time,” Sy said in a statement. “Together with Netflix, Carrousel, and Gaumont, we’ve invested the...

Emily Deschanel Was Roped Into A Bones-Like Investigation (And Managed To Solve It)
Image
Emily Deschanel began her career back in 1994 and has appeared in several TV shows and movies. But by far her most memorable and best-known role was as forensic anthropologist Temperance "Bones" Brennan on Fox's offbeat procedural "Bones." Not only did she play the role for 12 straight seasons between 2005 and 2017, but Deschanel also directed one of the most important "Bones" episodes and became a producer on the series around season 4, ensuring she had an element of control over the show that came to define her career. In turn, Deschanel played a large part in defining the series itself, which, after such a long on-air run, is impossible to think about without the actress in the lead role.

There is another woman without whom neither "Bones" nor Temperance Brennan would exist, however: Kathy Reichs. A real-life forensic anthropologist, Reichs used her decades of experience to write a series of mystery novels based around the Brennan character,...

The Chosen Season 6 Release Window & Theatrical Plans Clarified By Franchise Creator
Image
The Chosen season 6 will have a very different release schedule compared to previous seasons. After earning its first major theatrical debut, The Chosen season 5 shattered records at the box office as viewers came in droves to see the episodes on the silver screen. The Chosen: Last Supper - Part 1, which was released in approximately 2,000 theaters, earned $11.7 million in its opening weekend and proved that this franchise has theatrical potential. With season 6 currently in development, another theatrical release is seemingly inevitable.

In a live Q&a for The Chosen, franchise creator Dallas Jenkins opened up about the producers' plans for the upcoming season. While he has always been "extremely transparent" about the direction of each release, he intends to be more reserved with these coming episodes. He believes the release schedules have given viewers unrealistic expectations, hurting the show's reception. He no longer intends to share the release window until it is finalized.

Stranger Things’ Highest Rated Episode Yet Even Beats the Action-packed Epic Season 4 Finale
Image
Netflix’s Stranger Things has always been one of the darling shows that blends supernatural horror with ‘80s nostalgia and a killer synth soundtrack. And guys, it’s not slowing down anytime soon. With season 5 officially on the way, we’re all geared up for what promises to be a mind-bending, Demogorgon-dodging finale like no other.

But before the internet takes over season 5, let’s head back to Hawkins one last time, because it’s time to give credit where credit’s due. Season 4 of Stranger Things gave us twisted turns, big bangs, and Vecna’s creepy grip on our favorite teens’ minds. Yet somehow, it wasn’t the jaw-dropping finale that fans loved the most.

Nope, Stranger Things season 4 episode 7 snuck in and claimed the top-rated crown and quietly outshone all the other explosive episodes of the season, especially the finale. No massive explosions, just masterfully built suspense, character beats,...

Fallout season 2 gets positive filming update (but don't expect release date to be soon)
Image
Fallout on Prime Video is such a unique series where, yes, it has a loyal fanbase thanks to the games the show is based on. Though if you're like me and never played them, you can watch it because it's just a good piece of television content. And I think that's one aspect that truly makes it unique. The first season came to an end in April 2024, and we've eagerly been waiting for Fallout season 2. Well, there's a really positive update on that front!

As of May 8, 2025, filming on Fallout season 2 has officially finished. Both the show's account and leading lady Ella Purnell herself took to social media to share the happy news. This has been a long time coming as the series has been filming the past six months since November 2024. Check out The Ghoul himself, Walton Goggins, ripping his prosthetic off to indicate the end of filming in a hilarious,...

Godzilla X Kong: Supernova: Everything We Know So Far About The Kaiju Sequel
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The MonsterVerse has become one of the most reliable, slow and steady cinematic universes going in Hollywood. Tracing its roots back to Gareth Edwards' gritty, grounded, divisive hit "Godzilla" in 2014, the franchise has since expanded to five increasingly wild movies, a TV show in the form of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," comics books, and even video games. Now, Warner Bros. and Legendary are reuniting once again for another kaiju-filled cinematic romp coming our way in 2027.

While virtually nothing has been revealed yet in terms of plot details, the studio has confirmed that "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova" has an official release date. Given that 2024's "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" became the biggest movie in MonsterVerse history, that's not remotely surprising. So, what is "Supernova" going to bring to the table? Does the term relating to the implosion of a...

Godzilla and King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
More than a decade has passed since Legendary Pictures secured the rights to Godzilla and other characters owned and created by the Japanese company Toho so they could launch a cinematic universe they call the MonsterVerse – and they also secured the rights to the King Kong character so he could be part of their MonsterVerse as well. Things got started with Godzilla in 2014, and since then the universe has expanded with Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, the animated series Skull Island, the live-action series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. A third Godzilla / Kong mash-up is now on the way – and while we already knew two weeks ago that production had started on the film, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have officially announced that filming is underway today, unveiling an ominous teaser, revealing that the film is aiming for a March 26, 2027 theatrical release,...

The next MonsterVerse movie has a title. Warner Bros. has officially unveiled the subtitle for its next Godzilla x Kong, which seems to hint at what awaits the fan-favorite Titans in their next big-screen adventure.

The studio has shared an ominous first teaser for Godzilla x Kong, showing a Monarch call center office. The camera pans to one of the desks as the following warning flashes on the computer screen: "[Emergency Alert] – Severe. To Report a Titan Sighting, Call (240) Monarch." Stranger Things Fan Favorite to Star Opposite Actors From 3 Major Franchises in Directorial Debut
Image
Stranger Things fan favorite Dacre Montgomery will soon make his directorial debut. The actor is set to star in and direct The Engagement Party.

"I could not be more honoured to be directing The Engagement Party, a film with an extremely important and timely message. I’m equally thrilled to have such a wonderful team of collaborators to help bring this story to life," said Montgomery in a statement shared by Deadline. The Engagement Party was scripted by Jory Anast, whose previous movie, Went Up the Hill, also starred Montgomery. The synopsis for The Engagement Party, which is planned to be shot later this year, hints that something dark is lying dormant beneath the celebration of the titular event.

"On a beautiful, secluded island, amidst the golden rays and ocean breeze of a stunning beach house, two couples reunite to celebrate a momentous occasion. Until a conflicting memory arises which...

Watch the Skies Review — AI-Enhanced Sci-Fi Flick Uses Technology Well
Image
Watch the Skies is a fully Swedish production. You’d have no idea the film was originally shot in Swedish, though, thanks to a new form of AI technology. Ultimately, this technology will overshadow the conversation surrounding the film. Tech aside, director Victor Danell has crafted a pretty interesting and audacious sci-fi adventure about UFOs. It’s a worthwhile watch with some Spielbergian spectacle, especially for those interested in how foreign films could evolve moving forward.

Watch the Skies Review

Originally shot in Swedish, Watch the Skies uses a technology called TrueSync, developed by the startup Flawless. Once the actors have fully dubbed over the film in English, TrueSync allows their lips to visually match the vocal performance in post-production.

The film does itself a disservice by proudly advertising as “the world’s first AI-dubbed film.” The AI isn’t doing the dubbing, only assisting in aligning the dub with the actors’ mouth movements.

Find out which of your favorite Stranger Things stars are attending Netflix's Tudum!
Image
We have very high hopes for Netflix's Tudum 2025 event coming at the end of the month! The celebrations are a great way to highlight some of the streamer's most popular shows with fans, and provide us with release dates, sneak peeks, and more deets to highly-anticipated seasons we're waiting for. One of those is Stranger Things season 5.

Unsurprisingly, the streamer has stayed very tight-lipped with details about the sci-fi horror's final season. Yes, we've gotten some updates regarding when to expect it - 2025 - and some fun behind-the-scenes footage of the cast and crew when filming wrapped. Though we really don't have any other details. I don't know if Netflix will share a teaser video or trailer. But, I would love it if we at least got a release date so we know when to expect the series to come back this year!

Steve Harrington’s Redemption Arc in ‘Stranger Things’ Came at Jonathan Byers’ Expense
Image
Steve Harrington is inarguably the most popular character from Stranger Things, thanks to actor Joe Keery’s charismatic performance. Initially introduced as a bully and boyfriend of Nancy Wheeler, the character went on to have one of the most impressive redemption arcs in the first season, turning him into a fan favorite.

Despite this, some fans feel that the character stole the actual role of Charlie Heaton’s Jonathan Byers in the later seasons. As the series progresses, Steve becomes more of a big brother to the Hawkins gang, a role naturally suited for Jonathan, given his preexisting relationship to the group. Here is what fans had to say about the Steve-Jonathan conundrum in Stranger Things.

Stranger Things fans think Steve Harrington’s redemption arc came at Jonathan Byers’ expense

Stranger Things emerged as one of Netflix’s most popular shows, primarily because of its cast of likable characters. However,...

Stranger Things season 5 is the Netflix show we're going to miss most this summer
Image
The wait between seasons for Stranger Things never gets easier. Especially now with Stranger Things season 5 being the last, the anticipation is higher than ever. It's been a long time not knowing when the release date for the final season would be. And the wait unfortunately continues. Though it hasn't been confirmed, we don't think the last chapter is going to arrive this summer.

Though previous seasons, other than season 2, have come out in May or July, I really don't think that's going to be the case this time around. Filming on season 5 wrapped back in December 2024. Even still, the amount of editing required in post-production due to the massive special effects takes months and months to finish.

At the end of January 2025, creators of the series Matt and Ross Duffer, shared that they had started post-production right after filming because editing the visual effects takes so much time, per Variety.

Nicolas Cage Is Keeping Things “Close to the Vest” About His Live-Action ‘Spider-Noir’
Image
Nicolas Cage’s new movie recently began playing in theaters everywhere, but that didn’t stop the Oscar-winner from delivering a new update on one of his most intriguing upcoming projects. Cage has been tapped to reprise his role as Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming Prime Video series, Spider-Noir, which began filming late last year. Cage first made his debut as the character in animated form with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse before returning only in the post-credit scene of the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. Information about Spider-Noir is being kept under heavy wraps — a concept any Marvel-adjacent project knows all too well — and during a recent interview with Collider's own Steve Weintraub to promote his new movie, The Surfer, Cage spoke on the dreaded Marvel vow of silence, and how he “can't say one word" about the secretive series

"So, Steve, they've got a five-inch-thick cone of acrylic...
