| A Parody of Ninja Badassery
{SPOILER FREE} This anime does not take itself seriously, because it is not meant to be taken seriously. It is supposed to be like a low budget production of an asskicking ninja action stereotype. This anime is laughing at itself and it wants you to laugh along with it. If you are not the type of person who can appreciate "so-bad-it's-good" movies/shows, do not bother watching this. Comedy: 7* - The humor is hit-and-miss. Mostly consists of absurd and/or laughably bad characters, situations, and dialogue. Action: 5* - Goofy, rather than exciting. Drama: 6* - The main story is utterly unimportant and is only there to give the main character a reason to kick ass. There were a couple of secondary characters in side stories which were told with a dark atmosphere and serious tone, film-noir style. They were interesting and I cared about what happened to those characters. Totally out of place in what is otherwise a comedy anime, but good. AudioVisual: 4* - Terrible animation, bad art, repetitive sound effects. Good OP, variety of good EDs. Solid voice acting in the dub, featuring the usual cast. Overall: Greater than the sum of it's parts, because it's parts are BAD ON PURPOSE.
