Three Dr. Seuss adaptations are dominating a major streaming chart, even though two of them are based on the same book. Dr. Seuss, which is the pen name of Theodor Seuss Geisel, is an iconic children's book author and illustrator. Some of his most well-known works are 1954's Horton Hears a Who!, 1957's The Cat in the Hat, 1960's One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, 1960's Green Eggs and Ham, 1965's Fox in Socks, and many more. His work usually includes fantastical designs for unusual characters, creatures, and worlds.
Over the years, many Dr. Seuss movies have made it to the screen. A few of his works have been adapted into live-action blockbusters, including the Mike Myers-led The Cat in the Hat, which debuted in 2003. However, it is much more common for his work to be adapted into animated specials or features such as 2008's Horton Hears a Who,...

Walden Media has named Juliana Janes as executive vice president of development and production.
At the studio behind Apple’s Lincoln assassination series “Manhunt” and the upcoming Russell Crowe drama “Nuremberg,” Janes will elevate the content slate working closely with writers, directors and producers. She’ll report to Walden production president Benjamin Tappan.
Janes comes from Bron, the edgy label where she served as EVP across both film and television. There, she developed projects including “Kin” and “Ten Percent” and the upcoming “Americana,” a feature starring Sydney Sweeney and Paul Walter Hauser.
“Juliana’s passion for storytelling and enviable record of success in film and television makes her a perfect fit for Walden’s mission of delivering narratives that inspire and resonate with audiences,” said Tappan. “Her commitment to fostering creativity aligns seamlessly with our mission to bring forth stories that challenge and uplift viewers.”

“Wednesday” super fans have something extra to be thankful for this morning — even if Wednesday herself is none-too-pleased.
Netflix is putting Wednesday Addams in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which actually streams live on Peacock, not on Netflix.
The new “Wednesday” float will be “accompanied by an army of lookalike Wednesdays” and “a special performance” of “Paint It Black” by indie-pop star Bishop Briggs. We guess the Rolling Stones, who wrote and recorded “Paint It Black” in 1966 were unavailable… for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega in Netflix’s smash-hit series, famously hates the Thanksgiving holiday — especially since she started working at the fictitious Pilgrim World tourist attraction.
“Netflix has tapped into Wednesday’s apathy and bold nature to create a float and a moment within the historic parade to delight fans as they await Season 2,” per the press release.

America will no longer have Ellen DeGeneres to kick around.
According to The Wrap, DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have moved to rural England and put their Montecito estate on the market.
Moreover, they plan to never return to the United States, a source tells this outlet, allegedly because Donald Trump was re-elected as President this month.

There’s been concern among many observers that the upcoming Trump administration will roll back various rights, laws and regulations — including the legality of gay marriage.

Daveed Diggs is joining the world of “The Boys” as a series regular in Prime Video series’ fifth and final season. Details on Diggs’ role are being kept under wraps.
Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel series where the superheroes are the bad guys, “The Boys” is set in a world in which a substance can turn people into superheroes. As such, a legion of corporate-backed celebrity supes enacts their own sense of justice while posing for cameras and covertly doing wet work for the government — kind of like an evil Avengers. The show follows a group of regular humans who work to bring the superheroes down.
“The Boys” is executive produced by Ennis, Robertson, showrunner Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Judalina Neira, Jessica Chou, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter.

Ilana Glazer has set a new comedy special titled “Human Magic” at Hulu.
“Human Magic” was taped at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto in May of this year during Glazer’s 48-city tour across the U.S. and Canada. This is their second stand-up special, following “Ilana Glazer: The Planet Is Burning,” which debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2020 and saw them discuss their “thoughts on homophobes and Nazis, how crappy women’s razors are and what a joke the patriarchy is.”
Glazer is best known for “Broad City,” the Comedy Central series they co-created, co-showran and co-starred in with Abbi Jacobson. After debuting as a webseries, “Broad City” ran on Comedy Central for five seasons. "House of the Dragon," now well into its second season, has officially restored Westeros' place on the Iron Throne of television. All the insistence that "Game of Thrones" season 8 permanently tarnished interest in the franchise now look foolish, as this prequel about fire and blood has racked up acclaim. (Read /Film's review of "House of the Dragon" season 2 here.)
With it becoming ever more unlikely that the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books will receive a proper conclusion, "House of the Dragon" is working two-fold to sustain audience interest in its fantasy world. It's worked on me; after sitting out "Game of Thrones" during its initial run, the Foma finally got to me and I'm now watching "House of the Dragon" and reading the books.
Last time, I professed mea culpa for unfairly judging comic writer Garth Ennis. Now, I similarly come hat-in-hand to George R.R. Martin — I am...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is attacking children’s characters again, this time: it’s Barbie.
As many fans are excited about the highly anticipated Barbie movie, Cruz has taken a different stance. He explained in a recent interview that a crayon-drawn map shown in the film’s trailer is “Chinese communist propaganda.”
“I mean it’s really a very simple cartoon, and so they have this block-ish thing that is called Asia and then they draw on what are called the ‘nine dashes’ which is — this is Chinese communist propaganda,” Cruz told The Daily Signal. “The Chinese are asserting sovereignty over the entirety of the South China Sea, and they don’t have any right to it under international law but they’re trying to take it away from their neighbors there. “

On Saturday, the Producers Guild of America gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles to hand out the 2023 PGA Awards.
While the ceremony honors the achievements of producers across media, meaning awards were given out to series like “The White Lotus” and “The Bear,” the documentary “Navalny,” and animated feature “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” its theatrical film award, which was won by “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” is the one all eyes were on.
The Darryl F. In the room to accept were executive producers Jonathan Wang, Daniel Kwan, and Daniel Scheinert (the latter two also wrote and directed the hit multiversal dramedy from A24). The 34th Producers Guild of America Awards took place on Saturday, February 25 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The biggest award of the night, the Darryl F. It’s the only major precursor that uses a ranked choice voting system like the Academy Awards. Scroll down for the 2023 PGA Awards winners list in three film and 10 TV categories.

Jordan Peele has quickly come into his own since his "Key & Peele" days, emerging as one of the most interesting names in horror. In some ways, something similar could be said of the co-creator and costar of Peele's revered sketch comedy series, Keegan-Michael Key.
Over the years since "Key & Peele" aired its last episode in September 2015, Key has settled into his groove as a versatile voice actor, lending his vocals to films like "Toy Story 4" and the "Hotel Transylvania" movies, as well as shows both animated and live-action ("The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance"). Perhaps just as exciting, Key has proven to be a skilled singer, performing toe-tapping tunes in the musical movies "Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey" and "The Prom." He even gets to join the song-and-dance jollity in the musical comedy series "Schmigadoon!" despite his character being a musical-hating stick-in-the-mud.

At HBO Max, the Bat-folk can’t catch a break. Weeks after the decision to kill the effectively completed straight-to-streaming movie “Batgirl,” HBO Max canceled “Batman: Caped Crusader” and “Merry Little Batman,” among four other animated projects. The good news for these six newly scrapped Warner Bros. Animation projects is they are still full steam ahead in production and being shopped elsewhere, a person with knowledge of the situation told IndieWire — unlike “Batgirl,” which will never see the light of day.
A second source told IndieWire that HBO Max has made the choice to spend some time away from the kids-and-family sandbox. It’s a crowded and expensive field, and HBO Max isn’t a breakout brand for that type of programming. Disney+ and Netflix will vie for the kids’ market, one with no opportunity for ad revenue — both made a pledge to let the programming run commercial free — in...

Disney+ and Netflix will vie for the kids’ market, one with no opportunity for ad revenue — both made a pledge to let the programming run commercial free — in...

‘Green Eggs and Ham: The Second Serving’: The Hit Netflix Animated Series Makes an Egg-Citing Return

Photo: ‘Green Eggs and Ham: The Second Serving’ Ambition Works Wonders Over two years later, and I still can’t get over how much of an anomaly the first season of Netflix’s ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ was in the world of kid’s entertainment. A short children’s picture book by Dr. Seuss about a grumpy guy (that just so happens to be named Guy) learning a lesson in open-mindedness being adapted into a shockingly ambitious story-driven series with strong writing and characterization, a large-scale plot full of twists and turns, and a massive budget to back it all up? It’s one of those works that sounds like some sort of joke when you hear about it, and yet it’s just what Warner Bros. Animation and Netflix teamed up to give us: A beautifully animated series with a ton of passion and effort put into it. Okay,...

“Ozark” fans, rejoice. The Jason Bateman and Julia Garner-starring drama series is returning to Netflix in April with a second part to its fourth season — and it’s just one of many other hotly anticipated titles coming to the streamer this month.
April will also see the long-awaited sophomore installment to “Russian Doll,” the mind-bending “Groundhog Day”-esque dramedy series starring Natasha Lyonne as a hard-partying New York City woman stuck in a brain-melting circuitous loop from hell.
For fans of capital-m mess, there’s the Spanish-language “Elite,” which traces the scandalous (and often murderous) exploits of the posh attendees of high school Las Encinas. Or, if you prefer your glamorous mess via reality series, “Selling Sunset” — about the lux real estate market in Los Angeles — is premiering its fifth season April 22.

A list of new streaming releases on Netflix, what a concept!
Netflix’s list of new releases for April 2022 is highlighted by the return of one of the great sci-fi comedies ever. Natasha Lyonne is set to return as the temporally displaced Nadia on Russian Doll season 2 on April 20. The first season of the show premiered in 2019 and appeared to tell a rather complete story about one Brooklyn woman’s experiences of dying over and over again. But Lyonne and fellow producers Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler still have some story to tell. Netflix is undoubtedly very happy to let them continue to tell it.

The untitled series will see some of America’s best bakers step into the mind of Theodor Seuss Geisel and use their imaginations to craft cakes inspires by his beloved characters, which also includes Horton the elephant and the Lorax.
It marks a rare unscripted television extension of the Dr. Seuss brand, which is better known for animated features such as Horton Hears A Who! and The Grinch and Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham.
Seuss-inspired cake designs have previously shown up on other cooking competitions such as Food Network’s Cake Wars but this is the first standalone series based around the idea.

CNN's Brianna Keilar does think it's a little bit ironic Sen. Ted Cruz is criticizing Texas Democrats for their Covid-era travel.
"Texas state Democrats finishing up week two of their sabbatical in Washington and objectively, it's been a PR nightmare. Their reason for leaving their state: to call attention to unprecedented voter restrictions but that has been overshadowed by their trip becoming a superspreader event," she said, before rolling a clip of Cruz calling the Democratic trip a "stunt."
Keilar said, "Now, love or hate this sojourn by Texas state Dems, the last person who should be chiming in about political stunts is Ted Cruz. It's like a black fly in your chardonnay or a death row pardon two minutes too late -- but then, Cruz must have missed track number 10 on the 1995 masterpiece, 'Jagged Little Pill,'" said Keilar.

She already has more than 30 Emmy Awards, a star on the Walk of Fame, a Peabody, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Now Ellen DeGeneres is adding another trophy to her list of accomplishments: the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.’s Carol Burnett Award.
The honor, which was created in 2019, is intended to pay homage to impactful achievement in television and will be given during the 77th Annual Golden Globes on Jan. 5. DeGeneres, who was previously nominated for three Golden Globes for her eponymous sitcom, will be the second recipient of the award after Burnett herself.
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” executive producer Mary Connelly, who previously worked with Burnett on the sitcom “Mad About You,” says that DeGeneres is a natural successor. “These two women are both incredibly smart, incredibly professional,” she says. “Both know the importance of the audience in comedy and are well-prepared.

Netflix got in the end-of-year spirit Monday by sharing its own set of Top 10 lists for 2019, including its most popular titles that launched in the U.S. over the last 365 days, which is lead by the Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler comedy “Murder Mystery” and the third season of “Stranger Things.”
According to Netflix, its “most popular” domestic releases for the year are, in order, “Murder Mystery,” “Stranger Things 3,” “6 Underground,” “The Incredibles 2”, “The Irishman,” “The Witcher,” “Triple Frontier,” “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” “The Umbrella Academy” and “The Highwaymen.”

John Turturro will star as Carmine Falcone in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” the director announced on Twitter on Friday.
Carmine Falcone first appeared in “Batman Begins” played by English actor Tom Wilkinson. The character made its debut in the comic books in the four-part story “Batman: Year One,” written by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli in 1987. In the comics, Carmine Falcone is a powerful mafia boss nicknamed “The Roman.”
Robert Pattinson is set to star as the Dark Knight. Reeves took over the directing gig after Ben Affleck stepped away from the role. Affleck was also expected to play Batman again but then said he would be hanging up the cape for good. Reeves has since described the film as a “defining” and “very personal” story about the Dark Knight, rather than an origin story in the vein of Frank Miller’s beloved “Year One” series.

Being an avid fan of the Dr Seuss franchise since a young age it was very exciting to see a new adaptation on Netflix. Most people are familiar with the ‘green eggs and hamʼ poem but many people know the story it appears in and so this adaptation serves as an advertisement for the Dr Seuss storybooks etc.
Certain aspects of this series were adapted to fit into the 21st century and small changes were used to make this show stand out for the other version of this classic story. To start with the narrator (Keegan-Michael Key) delivered the iconic Seussian rhymes at multiple points in each episode, in an almost street style way which gave a really interesting effect on the words being spoken. When I first heard the lines spoken in a gangster-style I was surprised but as the series continued it grew on me and by the...
