Good show for entertainment NOT medical accuracy

Things that are a nuances: they intubate EVERYONE! WHY? Surgeons literally gut people in front of family members, which is extremely traumatic. April, Natalie, Dr. Bekker, and Dr. Holstead are all ABSOLUTELY ANNOYING!!! They literally cause my skin to crawl with them merely speaking. The fact that their characters have that kind of power on the viewer means Wolf did a great job in balancing out the love-hate of the characters lol. We cannot love everyone. LOL. Happy viewing.

An hour of entertaining tv

I read other reviews slamming the show and everyone has a right to their opinion. My thought is, if you don't like it, don't watch it. I personally enjoy it, along with the Chicago franchise (Fire&PD). The crossover events are especially fun to watch. Is the use of accurate information on medication always correct? I can't say as I am not a doctor. I watch it because I like the characters and the stories. I'm sure there could be improvements, as with most tv. But this is not a documentary, its meant for entertainment. At least the characters have back stories. Lives outside the hospital. Dick Wolf has smartly created a network of series that all intermingle and its interesting to see how the New York shows come into play with the Chicago shows. So, just try it. And I don't mean to offend but to say it's like a soap opera is kinda funny to me because what is Grey's if not a soap? Most medical dramas have an element of such as well as miraculous cures at the end of the hour.

Watchable, but the South African accent is terrible

It's a good watch, not quite ER standards. One annoying point is the terrible South African accent of the character Ava Bekker. It's incredibly fake.

Great shows: I'm hooked

Not sure what is up with some of the bad reviews here? I think this show is fantastic. Good acting, great drama. What's not to like? The medical scenarios are interesting, though I cannot comment on how realistic they are, not being a medical professional myself.

To summarise: I'm hooked.

(Some other reviewers wrote that the medical scenes themselves are realistic, but that the doctors' interaction with each other in front of patients or their involvement with patients' private lives isn't, which may be the case, but it's a drama! Watch a documentary if you're after realism.)

Surprisingly well balanced medical drama

As a medical student myself, i would need a medical drama to be perfect and watchable, that is it should depict accurate terminologies with life saving manoeuvres to be accurately performed so that people don't follow them incorrectly if time comes in their life. A dash of drama is always a good refreshment for an avid viewer which the Chicago Med meets to that requirement in a quite good manner. Direction has been improved throughout the seasons. An underrated show. Deserves more recognition than those who have been enjoying unnecessary popularity by consistently manipulating medical representation.

Just started watching

A friend recommended me this series and I took the bite. Without reading anything about this medical series, nor reading any reviews on IMDb, I hasten to give my opinion.

Having seen 8 episodes thus far (season 1) I am thrilled about the cases presented in this busy hospital and the humanity and drama portrayed, making excellent watchable stories, causing one to think about life itself.

Without any prejudice I give it my rating of 7, before I read how other viewers experience this series.

Definitely one of the better series carrying the Chicago prefix!

Update: The more episodes I watch, the more I appreciate this series. I'm almost up to date and it's time to rate this 8.

2nd Update: Continues to be excellent; fine to re-rate this series to 9.

Good show but the writers need to be careful

I'd give the show a 9.5 but the writers of the show have started treading into the world of politics.

In S7 E12 'what you don't know can't hurt you', the writers chose to portray an expectant mother who refuses the C19 vaccine as a crazy person.

We get enough of this nonsensical portrayal from daily news. Viewers searching for entertainment don't need to be bombarded with the writer's political opinions.

Be careful writers or you will alienate a large group of the US and they will tune out.

NBC, please bring back ER!

Much as I normally love medical shows...this isn't one of them. Tedious, boring, terrible acting.and totally unrealistic. If I wanted to watch soap opera, I'd choose daytime drama. Whoever is writing these scripts has probably never spent any time in a hospital. Please get new writers or dump this mess!

Chicago Med

Most people say that any show about emergency rooms or hospitals in general are boring because it's the same old stuff over and over. From St Elsewhere to Chicago Med each show and each episode provides tense feelings. I love Dr. Daniel Charles, he keeps every one in the right mental state. Some times he has to think about certain situations but he comes to the right conclusion. Sharon Goodwin has the most important but mentally intense job in keeping the ER running smoothly but quickly. She does a great job at her role. All the cast do a great job at their characters. Chicago Med with each episode keeps you drawn to the show until the end. The situations the team go through are intense but everyone does their job to help the injured. I like how the producers bring all the Chicago shows together, it makes it seem more like reality. I hope Chicago Med goes a long way. I don't miss an episode of either of the shows. Chicago Med, Fire and PD are Awesome #1 shows on TV.

Get a better medical advisor

Well I quite like the characters portrayed in this series I have nearly given up watching because of the medical errors. Like open heart and lung surgery on an awake talking patient. Once you open the chest you need a tube down the throat to control breathing. Please get a better medical advisor.

As a nurse

As a nurse, watching season 7, it's disturbing that the writers are not having someone with medical expertise reading through the script prior shooting and airing these episodes.

The patient is in surgery, she's bleeding. Already lost 1L of blood. It shows the monitor 77/something. Dr. Archer says she's hypertensive.

SHE FAR FROM HYPERTENSIVE. She's hypotensive and losing blood actively and already lost a bunch. She's hypovolemic, which occurs when you are losing fluid volume like blood or other fluids. All it takes is a simple google and basic medical terminology and understanding. That's it legit lol.

Unprofessional

I have never seen a more inept group of doctors and nurses. They make inexcusably poor decisions, they lie, they steal pills, and they constantly color outside the line of their professional duties and responsibilities.

If I were ill and I lived in Chicago, I would never let them take me to Chicago Med.

Chicago MD

Love the series glad it is back on. Hope people's negative comments don't cause a problem for the show. With that said the writer's need to make sure correct information is portrayed. Because some people believe what is said as truth and gospel not a television show that is meant for entertainment purposes only.

Get Real

I've been watching from the beginning and find myself getting more and more bored and agitated as the series continues. I can't believe that an excellent medical show like Code Black was cancelled, while this hunk of not stop, highly political histrionics is renewed. I just finished watching another absurd case on season 4 ep.20. Naturally NBC must find a way to bring in climate change now, they've covered every other liberal agenda, gun control, government run healthcare, illegal immigration, etc. I don't think that in the real world these off the wall issues come up on a daily basis, nor do dr.'s have the time nor patience to get involved. Oh yeah, whenever my family has had a problem while in the hospital, people from HR always come to our aid, NOT, let alone run our problem by the entire legal team. It's become ridiculous, this is positively the end for me. NBC you've made all the characters unlikeable, predictable and the constant bickering between dr.'s and nurses in front of patients never goes on in reality! The acting is so over the top, phony, sometimes detestable. When you only care about one character in an hour long show, Dr. Charles, then you don't really like the show. This is what I finally realized, it doesn't matter to me what happens to any of cast except him. Will not be tuning in next year.

You're fired!

I wish I could personally fire the casting directors who got rid of Dr. Rhodes, Dr. Reese, Dr. Manning, Dr. Bekker, Dr. Latham, and Dr. Clarke in the earlier seasons and replaced them with the mostly awful cast that is on now.

I love medical shows and still watch this, but Chicago Fire has pulled ahead as my new favorite of the three Wednesday night Chicago shows.

I have been streaming the first three seasons of Chicago Med recently and it was far better in the early days.

On to streaming all of Chicago Fire once I either get to the end of all the Chicago Med episodes or give up in season 7 or 8 due to the cast.

It is entertaining

This show is almost close to becoming "General Hospital" however the excellent cast keeps this show afloat above the suds that lesser talent would swallowed in.

The main story is that this hospital has a very caring staff that their work gets compromised by not only Bureaucracy but also personal entanglements that carry over to the office.

Nothing ground breaking but again the cast makes this show worth watching.

Good but self righteous

I do enjoy the show. I'm currently on season 4 so I'm behind. First I can't stand Will. What a jerk. I just want to punch him in the face. Second is Ava. Her voice and accent makes my skin crawl. I like the other characters and the plots. It's not a great show but it's entertaining.

In a nutshell

"I'm gonna resuscitate this patient even though they have a DNR. Am I right or wrong?"

"Wrong."

"But am I though?"

"Yes."

"Get out of my way nurse, no one's gonna stop me." *slaps her aside*

*Later*

"You know, you're a goshdarn maverick, and protocol states you should never work in medicine again for your recklessness, but you did a good job, so your actions have zero consequences."

So yeah, all in all, a very trite, melodramatic med-soap. If you want a genuinely good American example without nearly as much artificial attempts at moral dilemma, try New Amsterdam.
