  • Never saw such a bad dialog delivery from veteran actors. Direction was unbearable and so was the story telling. This movie reminds me of movies we made during school days.

Don't waste your money me and my wife were so bored, the only reason to watch this film is if you want to sleep. Gandhi wasn't even in 80% of the film.
  • This movie is made to set the narrative in the peoples mind, do not believe what they show in the movie, they want you to see this movie so you believe in their lies. They are selling lies in the name of movie.
  • Please, IMDB should bann this kind of content completely. Its a disgrace to history of real India !
  • The Gandhi Murder - based on verified facts, The Gandhi Murder chronicles the events that led to the assassination of the messiah of non-violence in the backdrop of a nation that was getting fast disillusioned with his philosophy. Right wing Hindu fundamentalism was growing through a scathing criticism of the Gandhi-Nehru policy of the new governance and the wounds from the not so old partition were getting worse with the government's alleged apathy towards the refugees. Hardliners were making their objectives clear and a civil war raged.

The assassination was perhaps inevitable and the country's intelligence knew it. The question was how long could the police defer the outcome, and were those responsible for the protection unbiased in their duties as well?

The Gandhi Murder makes a compelling watching as it takes over from where Sir Richard Attenborough left it and puts the Mahatma and his progress behind the scenes. This is about the hardliners and the police in a cat and mouse chase. It's intriguing to know that the police pretty much knew who the core conspirators were (Vishnu Karkare, Nathuram Godse, Madanlal, Nana), but were perhaps undecided whether to prevent them from the action wholeheartedly. Stephen Lang and Luke Pasqualino as DIG Sunil Raina and Inspector Jimmy Batliwala make a strong impact. Govind Namdeo in a dual role breathes fire. Om Puri and Avtaar Gill support well.

The subject is fantastic but the treatment falls short of calling it a polished venture. The editing is quite tacky as it appears that pieces have been clumsily put together. The pace is uneven, at times it is brisk and at others, it's dead slow. With a running time of 120 minutes there's a lot going on in there, but directors Karim Traïdia and Pankaj Sehgal probably didn't balance the proceedings and pace well enough. It's a sadly lost opportunity for a potential masterpiece.
  • Warning: Spoilers
A complex film no doubt, but the movie delivers through powerful performances from Luke Pasqualino, Stephen Lang, Om Puri, Vikas Shrivastav and debutante Alen Thomson.

Armed with the knowledge that Gandhi will be assassinated, action starts with the police, politicians and the killers preparing themselves for action, only a few in the police, and perhaps among the politicians decide Gandhi's assassination will be better for the country.

The movie is based on true facts, and moves at a fast pace. Possibly requires watching again. I will go.
  • The movie is about the conspiracy surrounding the murder of Mahatma Gandhi.

Stephen Lang puts a stunning performance, as does Luke Pasqualino. Both play police officers who are in the know that Gandhi is going to be murdered.

Vikas Srivastava plays Godse, and some of his dialogues are very powerfully and emotionally delivered. The actor was clearly in the zone.

This is an old part of Indian history, so it couldn't have been easy to develop the plot. Yet, the story, even if it develops a little slowly, is engaging and develops well.

The repeated reference to American history and Abraham Lincoln, in my view, could have been tapered down a little.

Special effects and VFX were poor. It could have been even much better.
  • Gandhi was a calculated political sacrifice to jail and eliminated all opponents.

The the security of Gandhi were intentionally lowered down to make Gandhi's assassination imminent and then regime use him as pressure cooker vault to release the growing anger and remorse of the public against Nehru and Gandhi.

And it is also true that Gandhi was a British stooge, Gandhi was a loyal British policeman, trained in South Africa and planted in India to act like a safety valve for the British, to delay the freedom struggle of Indians, and give British enough time to transfer the power and leave peacefully.

Gandhi was so hypocrite that his "non-violence" was only for the Indians, he refused to support Bose and INA, but at the same time he was recruiting Indians to die in the European World Wars by the British side.

Lastly, this quote by Gandhi, showing his insane mentality which finally helped me opened my eyes:

" Hindus should not harbour anger against Muslims even if Muslims destroy kill us all. We should face death bravely. If Muslims established their rule after killings Hindus we'd be ushering in a new India."
    • Mahatma Gandhi (Book: The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Page 219)
  • A Well narrated story and a must watch for all irrespective of Nationalities.. Indians and Pakistanis MUST WATCH which would possibly help reduce the hatred among the few who has it.. I liked it... We should all know what and how it all actually happened...

We have all read it .. could relate it now..

The movie is already developing a 'cult status', and has made a bold statement of classless society by casting non-Indians as Indians for the first time, creating new grounds in cinema.

Because it was and had to be referred with old times and facts the movie was shown not fully as a movie ..I thought it also had a documentary effect at times .. Over all I liked it ..and would recommend watching for sure

    A must watch for all....👏👏👏👏

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. Where there is love there is life.

    • Mahatma Gandhi

    Go and must watch..!!
  • Good screenplay, hard facts, nicely woven docu-drama. Let not poor photography and casting get in the way of a great lesson in history.
