Chang Ching-Ching (under that big hat and veil) is walking through the wilderness and attacked by a gang. Another fighter dressed in white, like her but completely masked, joins the brawl and fights against her. A male fighter (Li Hsin-Hua) also joins and the gang retreats. He goes to a house and finds Chang Ching-Ching there, slightly injured. There is also an infant there for some reason.
I had to watch the first fight twice just to see what was happening. The action was filmed too close with too many cuts and a shaky camera.
Cut to the other masked fighter and the gang go to a hideout. There is a dramatic entrance and a large urn with a lid appears on the stage. It talks and is displeased with the masked fighter.
A man flies to the house and puts something in the well. Li Hsin-Hua is blinded by the water. The gang sets the house on fire. Li escapes and despite his new blindness he fights them all. Our girl and the infant are rescued by a stranger. He takes the infant and leaves her. Our guy fighting blind falls off a cliff. Instead of hitting the ground, he seems to have been magically teleported somewhere.
Our girl is now hidden in a cave and attended by a chubby woman and our guy is in a cave under a waterfall attended by a white haired young lady. The infant is also in a cave. It seems his rescuer is a scholar.
My copy is a digital file "copyright by Vision Mix". I suspected an Ocean Shores VHS conversion and have never heard of that company. The video is poor quality as to be expected for this old format but I have watched worse quality. The dialog is Chinese (I do not speak Chinese) and there are no subtitles. All the fights are sword fights. All the fights are poor action because they are filmed too close, there are too many cuts after too few sequential moves, and the camera often shakes. The fights all tend to look alike for those same reasons.
I am on a project to watch and review every martial arts movie of the golden age from 1967 to 1984. I have watched this movie once for that purpose. I am done and I will never watch it again. I cannot recommend it, not even for a hard core fan of the genre. I will end my review on a positive note: The movie has a run time of only about 74 minutes and that is the best thing I have to say about it.
