Stopped paying attention to critics, and go by word of mouth. I heard this was good, and enjoyed watching Momoa. If I've had fun watching a series, been intrigued, and binge, it's good enough for me. The actors were well chosen, accents a bit funky, but the settings and costumes for this genre made it worth watching.
