PG-13 | | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi
On the run in the year of 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.
Parts of the film were shot at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA, simultaneously with 13 Reasons Why (2017). Some of the scenes involved pyrotechnics and helicopters, causing the 13 Reasons Why (2017) crew to have to wait between filming takes so that the loud special effects wouldn't disrupt the on-set sound recording.
The darkest nights, produce the brightest stars.
In one sequence, Bumblebee is seen crushing a can of Tab Cola with his fingers. The can however is of modern vintage, as shown by the can's shape (with the tapers, as opposed to the more purely cylindrical can of 1987) and the calorie count mark on the label (which was added sometime after 2010)
SPOILER: There is a mid-credits scene: Bumblebee reunites with Optimus Prime in a forest as more Autobots arrive and Charlie finishes fixing the Corvette.
Although the original British submission was uncut and rated 12A, it was replaced by a cut PG version removing 6 seconds of violence/injury.
