  • Deconstructing Pat & Billy (2006)

    *** (out of 4)

Nice 14-minute featurette about the making of Sam Peckinpah's PAT GARRETT & BILLY THE KID. Katherine Haber, a production helper on the film and author Paul Seydor are interviewed and take a different look at the making of the movie. Haber talks about the various production issues including the fact that the studio was after the director who was battling a harsh production and countless rumors about his alcoholism ruining the film. Seydor takes a look at the release of the movie as well as the version that was put into theaters, an alternate 95-minute cut and what was eventually released in 1988 and the Special Edition in 2005. Fans of the film are going to enjoy this featurette as we get some pretty good stories being told and there's no question that you'll learn a bit about the disastrous release and other issues. I do wish it had gone into more detail about the various version and the alterations that were made but overall this is still a winner.
