"Best in Sex: 2015 AVN Awards" is the 2015 edition of the adult film Oscars if you wanna call them that. The entire thing i watched ran for slightly over 1.5 hours, but there were at least 20 minutes pre-show/red carpet before that, so it was actually really only a bit over an hour long. In the past, there were editions that ran for 2.5 hours honestly, even without commercials, so that would be the other end of the scale. You can argue if 70 minutes approxinately is too short. They also had many little clips in-between, so if we only count when something was happening on the stage, it was even shorter. Director, writer and producer here is Gary Miller and you could say that this awards show is exactly his niche as, according to imdb, his first involvement with the AVN Awards was in the early 1990s and the most recent in 2019, so for over 25 years now he has been a part of this show. Makes something with you I suppose. One thing I find quite a pity here with this show is that apprently there is frequently such a big gap between the day it takes place and the day it is on television. This is here also the case apparently. It was held in January, but according to imdb the air date was in May, so four months in total. Massive. Imagine something similar with the Oscars. Would be a complete no-go. Of course, the interest by the general public is also on an entirely different level if we compare these two shows, but I still find it a bit disrespectful that you have to wait for a third of the year until you can watch these. And until your family members can see you win a trophy perhaps. Not the very small ones obviously. At least the older editions are still somewhere out there, so these shows are not entirely forgotten. Although quality-wise that would not be the very biggest loss at times. This also applies to this one here that took place now almost six years ago. One criticism I kinda have here is that I felt there were certainly not too many really stunning chicks part of the show this time. Compared to other editions I've seen and I have seen some. No t that there weren's any though. Some of the starlets were fine and Allie Haze near the end was breathtakinggly beautiful I would say. Makes me still remind the sleazy joke on women's body part worth remembering and the reference to lips. That was already almost the end of the show, but briefly afterwards they got out Stormy Daniels to announce a winner. Yep she is the one with the smear campaign on President Trump. Wish i could say she was only half as attractive as Haze or anything that warrants her existence in the spotlight. I just can't though.

One thing a bit unusual here was that they had a female host. Well, actually they had three hosts with two of them being porn stars and that is a mix that they frequently go for. Most of the time recently they had males for the non-porn people. Probably some females are a cautious when it comes to promoting adult film, which is exactly what this ceremony does. They shouldn't be though. It's every woman's right to deccide if she wants to be a part of this and what happens to her body. Anyway, the female host I am talking about here is Danielle Stewart and I applaud her for having the courage to show up here and do her thing. Her hosting and comedy were certainly among the not too many fine parts of the evening. But she is not a big name or anything at all. Reason(s) why they did not get anybody more famous I stated above. The other two would be Alexis Texas and Tommy Pistol. Now a few things about the nominations and awards, even if I cannot say I am familiar with any of the winners here at all. I still find it a bit strange honestly when there's over ten people nominated in a category and that seems to be the rule here for many categories. Definitely a touch of quantity over quality. Also in terms of the scenes shown from the nominated movies, I was not won over. On the one hand, this includes the quality of said scenes (I know I should not expect great filmmaking quality here, but still better than that), on the other I am talking about the aforementioned looks of the female protagonists that did not blow me away as during other editions. Of course, this is my subjective opinion, but for example Carter Cruise, one of the big stars of the night, did nothing for me. Cannot really comment on the males here as a heterosexual male myself. But the one thing that comes immediately to mind is that in terms of the males, the quantity of regulars on this awards show is far smaller than the one of the females. This is also easily visible by taking a look at the guys' ages and comparing this to the females. The latter may be definitely on the short-lived side. Best example is the aforementioned Cruise who is retired now already way under the age of 30. As for the guys, something that I recognize a lot is that they seem to be having a non-American background many times. Rocco Siffredi was also a part of this show and he is Italian. Just imagine a 50-year-old female winning in one of the key categories. Literally impossible. I mean Jenna Jameson is not even 50 now. But what I actually wanted to say is that there was for example an Austrian winner in the category this time for Male Performer of the Year. I think there are not too many internationals when it comes to the girls although they, just like the Austrian, frequently hide their real names behind aliases too. Makes sense though. Take somebody who is called Jennifer Wilson and she is already difficult to find out about with that name via online searches and now imagine she uses another name. Literally impossible and good for her if, when aged 50 or so, she does not want people to know what she did in her younger years. Anyway, as for the Austrian fella, it can be said that he and his wife took home the top prizes this time, a pretty unusual acchievement for sure. Hasn't happened at the Oscars yet. Not even close. I mean there was this Bigelow/Cameron controversy once. This was maybe the closest they got. One more interesting thing was kinda how they included a bit of a diary for one of the nominees throughout the show. We see her many times how she spends the evening etc. and finally how the camera catches her briefly before the winner of her category is announced. Not her, which was actually the better choice because otherwise it would have felt a bit forced. I honestly thought it was a creative idea, even if what we see from her was probably not the most authentic. But hey, there for once it is good that these girls are not the most talented actresses. Also visible when one winner really lost it and teared up during her acceptance speech. Alright, I think this is enough now. Overall I was disappointed by this show and as a consequence I was glad it was this short. Definitely seen better editions and I would rank it somewhere at the bottom. This is definitely not a top. No pun intended. Oh wait, one final thing I forgot. They always seem to get high-profile and really successful musicians for this event. Back in 2015 they had Rae Sremmurd, who people still remember today, but back then he was much bigger. So the star is as always the music act here, even if his music did very little for me. Like the rest of the show. Highly not recommended. To sum it all up, a few words on Mr. Ron Jeremy: I mean innocent until proven guilty applies to him just like it does to everybody else, but he came off as really unlikable and I can see why, except during his time on the stage (where however the woman next to him did not seem too comfortable either and also nobody really laughed too hard about his jokes), the camera never caught him although he was sitting in the front row. Already back then, he was not a shining icon to represent the industry (like Randy Spearss could be) despite his long, long time being a part of this business. Oh well, and with the revelations about him from the last 100 weeks, he has that creepy old man thingey now for sure sticking with him for the rest of his days, if he did not have it back in 2015 already. But hey, at least he also had all these women.
