I was curious to check out this show, having grown up with Dan Schneider and marveled at his weird staying power among 12-year-old girls. The idea seemed solid on paper: buddy comedy star Kel Mitchell of yesteryear teams up with fresh faces, then the games they make are released in app form so kids can bleed Nickelodeon 24/7. What could go wrong? Well, pretty much everything. This show is a frantic mess that can't go five minutes without somebody exploding, falling down, screaming at another character, or having an absurdly cartoonish overreaction lest any viewers accidentally get bored. The whole thing is terribly cobbled together, like the producer told the writers, "I want flashy gadgets, white people rapping, cute animals, and sentimentalism with the depth of a kiddie pool. GO!" The characters don't mesh at all, with each one spouting a few lines and then preening awkwardly for the camera. Cue explosion, laugh track, or anything else that covers up the fact that this show can't segue to save its life. Frankly that seems to be the biggest issue, is just a lack of any likable roles. What happened, Dan? iCarly, Kenan & Kel, Drake & Josh...sure, they weren't Masterpiece Theater, but their stars were enjoyable enough that fans wanted to keep up with them. Game Shakers is polluted with one flat, dull, irksome stereotype after another--where's the fun, or the surprise in that, or the desire to not throw the remote at the TV? This was the chance for a fresh start. The iCarly/Victorious/spin-off era is gone, new actors were hired, and this idea just sounded great. Instead it's the same old schtick, yet worse somehow, with another generation of tired gags for kid actors who don't even have the appeal or the comic timing of their predecessors. Granted the tween crowd has more forgiveness for dopey humor than I do, but a character can only fall down so many times before it stops being funny. Incredibly, this show has already reached that limit.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Game Shakers is about 4 teenagers who create mobile games with the help from a famous celeberty rapper named Double G. Corny name, right? Anyways, their jobs are just making games.

My problem with Nick is that they're running out of ideas! I loved Spongebob, but now they're just recycling every old episode into a stupid new one. I also don't get why that show hasn't died yet, but iCarly did, and that show was the bomb! Infact, it still is today.

Back to Game Shakers, why would Nick include that guy named "Ed" from Good Burger? He is still as stupid as of today, and when I mean today, I mean in this show. His voice was also really obnoxious. Onto the Game Shakers themselves, there is this one kid named Hudson who has a very annoying laugh and is as stupid as Double G. Babe and kenzie are both drama queens and very bossy. Triple G isn't that bad, he is a little immature tho.

There are other shows that I recommend you watch like Spongebob, The Loud House, iCarly, Drake and Josh, and much others. Skip this show.
  • I don't really like this show I personally think it's kind of annoying and it's definitely not one of my favorites. But some of these jokes are surprisingly funny, and some of these episodes are really good. The plot is creative but not something I would enjoy.I want to say that I am 10 years old and the target audience but I understand if you like this show, actually I don't but it's okay if you like it.I think I started hating this show because it played after SpongeBob SquarePants.I don't like any of the characters in this show, none of them are relatable or entertaining.I always liked nickelodeon but not that much,I think my biggest problem with Nickelodeon is that the 2010's didn't have that much good shows so I just watched the good ones. I just want to finish this review saying:I can watch 1 or 2 episodes but it's not something I would watch for hours.

Another one of those "ooh yeah kids will like that" shows.

Being in the demographic of kids they're aiming the shows towards(6 - 12), I can confirm that this is just trying way too hard. Nickelodeon has released mind-boggling trite before, have a look at the Thundermans and School of Rock. But this? This has reached a new level of low.

Lets start off with the characters.

Babe, is pretty much Carly(from, well, iCarly), but younger, more obnoxious and pretty much worst in every aspect.

Kenzie is just the "nerd" stereotype. She wears glasses and does that unfunny "9 questions" joke that just kills me inside. Not to mention, she is extremely ANNOYING and no "nerd" does the crap she does. How do I know? Because I'm pretty much a nerd myself, and let me just say, being a nerd does not mean wearing glasses and being, whatever shes doing.

Hudson is a moron. That's all you need to know. He's an unfunny moron too. And introducing the token black characters! Triple G and Double G. What the actual hell are these names? Basically they were introduced because Double G's(who is a rapper(and a bad one too)) song was used in Babe and Kenzie's game(a doodle jump/flappy bird rip-off) and are trying to sue them(Kenzie is an idiot and not all smart since she doesn't have knowledge of copyright). If I could describe these two in one word, it would be obnoxious.

The humor is awful. Explosions, unfunny punchlines, using Hudson as a joke dispenser and being "OH YEAH SO FUNNY AND RANDEM XDDDD" doesn't translate to comedy. It means that you should fire your comedy writers.

I could go on, but after watching about two episodes and stopping after that, means that you have utterly FAILED at captivating my attention. But the worst part is Dan. Releasing Drake & Josh, iCarly and more, I expected something better from him. But when Sam & Cat aired, I realized that this network has officially lost it in the sitcom department. At least Harvey Beaks, The Loud House, and Spongebob are still things. But then again, we also have Alvin and the Chimpmunks.

Good job Nickelodeon. If there's one thing I can count on you to be, its to be extremely pandering.
  • Another one of those "how do we appeal to kids nowadays" show. Everything in this show is just downright awful. From the horrible jokes, to the cliché roles (Smart girl wears glasses and makes a unfunny joke about having 9 questions in class) to the token black kid, this show has all the cliché you can think of! But wait, theirs something new! The black kids Dad is a rapper!!!!!!!!!!! My god, this show is just horrible. It is also based upon video games, and the internet, which will surely appeal to the kids nowadays! We also got that guest star Youtube personal on the show (GloZell Green) just to add to the already awesome cast! A cast filled with kids no one has heard of before. All in all, this movie is Dan Schneider latest wreck, as trying to recreate ICarly and its huge viewer base has been a fail.

Tl;Dr: ICarly wannabe filled with unknown cast, cliché plot and script, horrible jokes, and very stereotypical characters that isn't even worth wasting your time flipping through the channels and accidentally landing on it.

    Warning: Spoilers
In Nick's never ending quest to establish the bottom of the barrel, Dan Schneider's once good career continues to go down the toilet with this new show he made. But I have to be honest; when I first heard of this show, I was actually a little curious due to the fact that it would also star Kel Mitchell. Kel is one of my all time favorite TV stars and I loved him in Kenan and Kel and Good Burger. I figured it was still going to be bad, but not so bad that even Kel himself couldn't save this show.

Kenzie and Babe are two kids who make some really bad ripoff of Flappy Bird, and it somehow gets so popular, it makes them a lot of money and popular on the internet. What soon follows is a rapper named Double G coming in and making a deal with all of them being business partners.

There are multiple words that can easily describe just how bad this show is. Ranging from ear-bleeding annoying to complete garbage. It manages to hit every annoying note in a live action show. From bad jokes to annoying character, this show hits every bad note.

The actors themselves, save for Kel, are just annoying. They either act over the top at certain things or they do EXCESSIVE SCREAMING AND YELLING. Seriously, there is not a single scene where one or more characters are yelling or screaming loudly like as if they stubbed their toe. Kenzie gets a bad grade? She rolls on the floor and screams like a banshee. It's annoying and makes you want to punch them out.

All the characters are annoying and make me want to hit them with a bat. In fact, some of them remind me of Dan's other show, iCarly, another show with a good premise that ended up being awful.

Babe reminds me of Sam with her rude and irritating behavior. Kenzie is your generic nerd who acts all insane over having perfect grades. The teacher is an idiot who likes to rub it in kids' faces when they fail. Even Kel's character, Double G, isn't that interesting, despite him probably being the best character. Hudson is like Gibby from iCarly. The rest of the characters are just bad and I couldn't care less about them if I tried.

Hudson alone is a good contender to be in the top 100 worst characters in a sitcom. I'm convinced he was dropped on his head as a baby... from the very top of the Empire State Building. Seriously, this kid is annoying in every way. He giggles like a moron at everything. He crashes into a wall? He giggles. He gets placed on a hook? He giggles. He hears about someone's grandmother in jail? He giggles. This kid needs to be slugged and placed in an incinerator. Though I'm sure while he's burning, he'll still giggle like a moron.

Kel, as I've said, I deeply respect and he's a great actor. While he does get a few laughs out of me here and there, he's not really interesting at all. At times, he's trying too hard to be funny, and sometimes he looks embarrassed. I do applaud him though for trying desperately to bring some entertainment to the show and does give it his best.

The jokes don't work most of the time. While Kel does have some decent jokes here and there, every other joke is awful. For example, at a restaurant Kenzie believes an earthquake is occurring when it starts shaking. What does she do? She yells stop, drop, and roll. Ignoring for a fact that this is what you should do when YOU'RE ON FIRE, it's done so over the top, it ruins what very little humor was in it. Then we have Kenzie having her mouth open in front a camera and acting goofy around it. The cherry on top is when Hudson asks, for some reason, if any of Double G's members are Jewish. What does that have to do with anything!? It's not funny and it makes no sense! Oh, and of course, the tiresome laugh track returns and sounds off every two seconds.

They even got some YouTube stars in on the show to try and liven the show up and make it more popular. There's this one girl I don't remember except for her constant screaming. But they got ProJared, and you can tell he is flat out embarrassed to be a cameo on this show. He even did a video about it shortly before the show was released to advise his viewers and subscribers to NOT WATCH THE SHOW. That is how bad it was.

Above all, this show is not realistic in the tiniest bit. The teacher claims video games don't benefit humans, which has been proved wrong in multiple studies. Methinks this teacher fails to keep up with the times. There is no way a ripoff of Flappy Bird would reach #1 in less than a day. And, of course, no way all all two kids own a video game making business. There's a clear difference between suspension of disbelief, and then flat out insulting your intelligence. This show crosses that line multiple times.

Kel, I love you man, but this was seriously not worth it. Everything about this show is awful. The writing is deplorable, the characters are annoying, the jokes range from bad to senseless, the yelling and laugh track are ear bleedingly bad, and it has no realism at all. The only somewhat decent thing in this show is Kel since he seems to be giving it his all.

Dan, it's time for you to consider retiring. If iCarly wasn't proof you were done for, then this show is sadly the last nail in the coffin of your once great career. Let's just hope that it'll soon be game over for this show.

  • Warning: Spoilers
When I watched this show, I noticed it was very unrealistic. I have this thing where I do NOT like shows that are unrealistic. First off, they have all this stuff in their game company... I'm sure for a game worth 99 cents they wouldn't have THAT much more for all that stuff and that big building. If I was making this show, maybe their company would start off in their basement or in a spare room and their game would be shut down from a copy right notice and they go talk to the record company or something. I'm just saying that is an example of what would make it way more realistic. That would actually make sense... The characters are annoying and I feel awful for the actors. If the show starts making sense, or they just cancel this one and make a better one, It would be better.

It wasn't good at all, it was unfunny, I really was expecting better. I don't even think they tried, that's what it seems like. :(
  • For all those dummies who say this show is an icarly rip off then I guess you just don't know the difference between refrigerators and microwaves. Also I find the humour quite funny and outlandish, you need to have a unique understanding in life to get some of the jokes. But the show itself is good, it's set to entertain 12 year olds but I'm 17 and I'm still laughing. I think anyone can enjoy it if he wants to
  • Dan's last sitcom to be produced for Nick...how does he end his trite ideas from here? Well, to start off while Henry Danger did not brought back any actors for their cast, Game Shakers was able to bring back a favorite from the 90s, Kel Mitchell himself. I was expecting to hate the show myself, but to my surprise I ended up liking it more than Henry Danger by a margin. Sure the concept is totally unoriginal but there one thing that keep it from being completely bad: Kel. Kel is an actor we all know and love back in the day so even in this show, his character is still as memorable as Ed from Good Burger. But like with most modern sitcoms for kids, you can see the usual flaws. First off, the acting once again is one of the weakest part of the show. Every kid actors just phone it in and their delivery are so flat compared to the likes of the past kid/teen actors from Schneider's pre-2012 shows. Then again the kids are much younger than the main actors from previous shows due to being preteen at the time the first season was airing. The characters themselves are also as memorable as a piece of paper. Ok, admittedly, the girls do have some personality (one a nerd and one a boy chaser), but the the two boys are just there. Triple G is the better boy while Hudson is just there, for comedic relief. And while he isn't too loud, all of his jokes are just unfunny. Yes he's the dumb blonde...a tired cliche. Again It's really pathetic that the best character in the show here is an adult. Double G saves the show from being worse than Henry Danger. while Kel does yells his lines too much it's funny and not in a contrived way. Just like with Henry Danger, Game Shakers first season was just mediocre. It was full with idiotic and predictable plots with abrupt ending and nothing else. While the show slowly improved it didn't get truly tolerable until season 3. Before you guy ask "but Felix what about the fact that Schneider is dragging it down?" While I won't deny that he gotten stale with his works, maybe it's his co-writers that make it tolerable rather than cliched and tiring. Now the references to his past shows are still there (there's even an episode about ICarly), but they aren't too in your face about when Victorious did it. The show did end in a cliffhanger and while that sucks to hear about that, it did marked an end of an era. After 25 good years, Dan Schneider was booted from Nickelodeon. Like I said before, he used to make such outstanding shows, but then he got too cocky and his works started to go downhill as a result. Scott Fellows May have been his single camera counterpart but he's not doing much lately. Either way I hope Nick's upcoming live action shows aren't as unbearable as pandering as Schneider's later shows. D
  • Everything about this show is just a recycled version of iCarly. Theres nothing to add, its just plain and boring
  • I have read some of the HARSH reviews on this show... they actually made me sign up to leave a review of my own... firstly... if you are over 15, this show wasn't made for you! I have 4 kids ranging from 4-13 and all of them love it! I have watched a few episodes and sure... It lacks originality (ie ICarly), but it is entertaining for kids, and I even found myself laughing at parts! The characters play their parts well and are likable! Try not to take yourself so seriously and remember what you are watching. If you are looking for intellectual shows, maybe stay off of nickelodeon! Glad it was renewed for a 3rd season! I know My kids will be watching!
  • Warning: Spoilers
I really really really recommend you watch this show. Instead of having a laugh track on every line like henry danger does. They only do laugh tracks only when they have a funny lines. Like really. Even though there's no real audience, they still did the perfect timing. The jokes were good the action was good. I recommend this show 100 over 10. It's not that bad. In fact, they don't have the cliche all family members are good guys. Max isn't a good guy. He wanted to be a villain. Even the bloopers were funny.
  • sabrinahammerq3 November 2016
I don't get it Dan Schneider, you've made brilliant and funny stuff! Like The Amanda show, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101 and Icarly! Those used to have me laughing so hard ( Mostly The Amanda Show and Drake and Josh did)

This is such a boring show, it's just like all the other shows on Disney Channel and Nickolodeon?? Why can't anybody come up with anything original instead of making clichéd plots, clichéd storyline, clichéd character.

:/ I do not recommend this kind of show to anybody who liked The Amanda Show or Drake and Josh!
  • This series is ending, there will be no season four. On March 26, 2018 Nickelodeon announced that Game Shakers had been cancelled and will end after it's third season. It'll end with nearly 65 episodes.and the announcement came after the show had wrapped production on March 21, 2018.

Also the same day of the show's cancellation announcement, the show's creator Dan Schneider had parted ways with Nickelodeon. Since that happened what about the future of Henry Danger (another of Dan Scheider's creations).

Game Shakers will be the fourth series ending on Nickelodeon this year along with: the Thundermans, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, School of Rock
  • Warning: Spoilers
SHAME.SHAME.SHAME. That's my word for this show. ABSOLUTE TERRIFYING in my opinion. HOW CAN YOU EVEN GET AN IDEA TO CREATE A SHOW LIKE THIS? MIND BLOWING. The acting is even WORSE than the show 'School of rock'. Does a damn Rapper act like a idiotic father all the time? Is he even a FATHER? I MEAN. Oh god there is so many things to begin with.... Whose child starts to work at the job of like 8-12? That's Completely illegal (Except acting, but that's completely out of the way and is not our case) And How on this earth do this kids even know programming etc etc at just the age of 8-12? I don't even.. Argh .. and why on earth, do you even come up with an idea of creating a game company when you should focus on school? I'm not even allowed to stay out at nights at 12:00 and these stupid idiot stay at their company for how long? Come from school, go to company, spend 6 hours there, arrive home at 12:00. Plus why the heck would a successful rapper sign up a contract with a bunch of little greedy kids?? I don't get the episode (I think it was from the very beginning) where Double G Fines Game shakers with an amount of 12 MILLION, YES 12 MILLION. A maximum fine of copyright claim is about 900-1500. but 12 MILLION? Has Dan literally lost his senses? That was with the story line. Dan please stop and create something good like Carly, it was at least better than these stupid shows and was enjoyable. Disappointed. What's next? A show where bunch of 12 years know how to use guns and become president of the USA and group up to destroy ISIS? Nah Dan Schneider, as much as I hate to say this, But I just have to, you're done for god's sake.

    Warning: Spoilers
My first impressions of this TV series is meh at best. The story line is just so illogical that its hard to even find it funny. Firstly, to make a game, it has to run on a game engine, such as DirectX, OpenGL, C++, Vulcan, Unity, Frostbite, or Gamebryo. Making a game just isn't as easy as the show might suggest. And there's the cost. Some kids just won't have the resources to buy a paid subscription of any game engine (with the exception of OpenGL, but its being around for over 2 decades) and there's just no way the game would and does look interesting enough to be a hit among the masses. Remember, the gaming community mainly consists of teenagers and above, and there is just no way that so many twelvies and under will buy the game. *cough cough* even the Minecraft community is only half under 13 years of age. And third, there's no way to make a rap song good without adding some sort of explicit content into it, so I have no idea why adding a rapper into the mix is a good idea.

It also has some clichéd stereotypical characters too. The smart one has glasses, the weird one is awkward, and the rapper is African American (please).
  • Warning: Spoilers
I cant begin to explain what a bag of utter CRAP this garbage you call a show. the mum made an accident giving birth to a pig you call hudson , he gets on my nerves he is dumber than dumb and his jokes are not funny he is the foetus that should of stayed a foetus
  • I am a kid and I kinda liked this show all up tell an Christmas special... I think it was the " Reggie Potato episode " They were making fun of the Jewish Religion. Hey had A small little menorah decorated with Christmas Candles and were mispronouncing all the words that are used during Chanukkah. This really upset me because this is not fair. You don't go around making fun of religions when you don't even know what it is about... It is supper unfair and the People who made it should have thought about it. little kids who watch might get an idea that it is okay to do this when it is not... for this, I now hate this show and think it is annoying. Also the kids in the show act so weird... they beat one another up, yell at each other for NO reason! this show is rude and little kids might learn bad things from it in my opinion.
  • Everyone that's on this show acts foolish and it's really funny my and my nephew truly enjoyed it... I don't think this deserved such a low rating it had a pretty good run to.
  • Warning: Spoilers
If you ask me, Game Shakers is a good show. Come on, Kel Mitchell is in it! In fact, him and his whole group makes it funny. But I would say that the blonde kid makes it annoying. He never said anything smart. And it's coming to the point where he shouldn't be on the show. All I'm saying is that you should just watch certain shows of Game Shakers. The ones that are really funny. My favorite character is the guy that always yells. OMG he cracks me up! The theme song is really cool. I like how they kind of just explore around the city. While Kel raps. Although, some times the situations might be a little ignorant. Like how can Babe loose her jacket in the subway. My question is... "Why would you take off the jacket in the subway any way?"
  • This show is just stinking awful. The characters are so unlikable. Waste of talents from Kel and the rest of the actors. Just don't watch. Idk how is has a 94% by google users but at least it has under a 5/10 on here.
  • ckagarik19 July 2020
I know it already ended but I enjoy watching reruns with my younger siblings. Lacks origianty but is still a great show
  • This show is alright it's I Carly but with video games.
  • Tomthefighter17 September 2017
I really wanted to give this show a chance, seeing as I'm a big fan of Dan Schneider's classics such as Drake & Josh and ICarly.

But after watching a decent amount of episodes of the show, I can't help but feel underwhelmed. Going in with high hopes and being hit in the face with bad acting, terrible jokes and terrible plot lines was not a great experience for me.

I am sad that I have to give this show such a terrible rating, but there just isn't another grade I could give this laugh track overloaded embarrassment.
