wrong turn bewteen comedy and horror

Clocking in under 80 minutes is always a good sign to make a fast moving flick. It is fast moving but it do has a few issues. It wants to be a horror and it also wants to be a comedy.

On part of the horror it surely delivers, never frightening but the killings are okay and with the slo-mo the blood is really well done.

On part of the comedy. Some parts do work, others doesn't, maybe on part I did laugh a bit.

It's all predictable and by the start you really know which girl is going to survive.

It is not all that bad and it's watchable but it doesn't know what it's wanna to be.

This movie has a really forgettable story and isn't really funny. Some jokes made me laugh, but mostly they were really unfunny. The dialogue wasn't that good either. The characters were boring and i didn't care about them.

Fun for a single watch!

The French cowboy narrating the movie may have been my favorite thing about this movie, but I wasn't bored at any point. Not worth a second viewing, but fun and crude enough to keep you watching. I watched with the original French audio, not sure why anyone bothered with the dub. Give it a chance-- you may be pleasantly surprised!

Watchable and entertaining enough, but not a memorable movie...

"Girls With Balls" is somewhat of a mixture between movies such as "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Wrong Turn" and then thrown in with a good sense of comedy from the likes of "Dodgeball" or "Shaun of the Dead". An interesting enough combination actually.

However this 2018 movie, while being entertaining enough actually, failed to be more than just your average horror comedy. It didn't manage to make itself stand out in the horror comedy genre, not even by throwing in balls. The movie is watchable and entertaining enough, for sure, but it just wasn't a movie that left a lasting impression once it was finished.

There is a fair amount of comedy in the movie, both sublime and in-your-face types, which appealed to me. And the fact that it was spruced up with some horror elements, just helped to put icing on the cake.

The movie did have a good cast assembly, though I can't claim to be familiar with anyone on the cast list. Which, for me, is a good thing, as I enjoy watching all new faces on the screen when watching movies.

I am rating "Girls With Balls" from writers Jean-Luc Cano and Olivier Afonso - with the latter also directing the movie - a mediocre five out of ten stars. It was entertaining enough for what it turned out to be - just don't get your hopes and expectations up too high.

Nice for a bad weather sunday

It's a low budget, comedy take on the lost in the woods horror movies. It almost looks like a parody to be honest. Don't expect more than easy entertainment

A movie between childish and mature

To say this first, my opinion on this movie is mostly subjective. For me it seems as if the movie is split into two different directions. On one hand it has the sexual humor and bloody violence of a movie for adults, on the other hand the storytelling and jokes are extremely childish and weak. This makes the movie kind of tiring to watch because the movie can't combine mature content and comedic parts like other movies are able to do. The acting is average at best.

One of the worst, most annoying, gross movie I have ever seen. Not even good if you have nothing else to watch. Just go to sleep instead.

Actors are just plain bad. There is no story. There is basically nothing good about it.

A film that was never intended to challenge for the Oscars and manages to squeeze a few boring bits into a 77-minute runtime, but is still great fun. It is hard to think of a cliché they haven't crammed in: blood flying, slo-mo, irrational character behaviour, baddies lifted clean off their feet by minor blows, an isolated hotel, even a driver getting lost on a road with no turn-offs, the list is seemingly endless. The film, though, keeps the viewer entertained and the violence, although repetitive, is stylish, the blood is copious. Young women in peril, psychotic rural throwbacks, volleyball, what's not to like? Give it a go. Wait out the slow beginning and revel in the carnage that is then unleashed.

Gory and entertaining horror comedy!

A volleyball team are stuck battling redneck inbreds in the wild. Pretty imaginative and decent gore effects. Humour is hit and miss. Perfect rainy day viewing with snacks and a few sodas.

I'm just finished to watch it and I'm nearly disgusted for this movie. The story is soo extremely over-done, the only difference to other movies is that here the bunch of stupid teenagers are one volleyball team. The cannibal rednecks are finally some sort of one cult, there is not any sense or explanation at all. All of the characters are annoying, some was putting me even angry. The special effects are very poor, the writing is catastrophic (GoTS8 is one joke against this) and even the characters that was meant to be sympathic are just unnecessary as hell. I can't believe that this movie is on Netflix. First 'Romina' now this. Who decide that this distasters can stay on Netflix? I don't understand the persons that give this cra* more than maximum 2 stars. Don't watch.

Wacky Fun, No Nudity in the Film

I made the title just to save the time of anyone who looked at the score and was like "are there naked people in this?" Well, there's your answer.

Don't get me wrong, that doesn't affect the score; I've watched porn videos that were better written, so that wouldn't really have done them any good here, but I kind of feel that movies like this usually have naked people in it, so I guess they subverted expectations? Yay? I don't know kids; the Kaptain is off his meds at the moment so maybe take this review with more than the usual dosage of salt.

Anyway, this movie is wacky as heck. I watched it in English and for some reason it felt like a nutty anime, really goofy vibes coupled with badly dubbed audio. This produced some unintentional humor, so it is maybe worth a look for that.

So I want to add that Manon Azem is my new waifu. I am totally smitten with her, that curly hair and those green eyes...MMM. I will move to France, learn French, do whatever it takes to win her heart. YOU CAN'T STOP OUR LOVE!

All the actors are decent enough in this, the script is just so bananas that you really can't take it seriously, which is really why this is worth a 4. It's a great movie to watch with very low expectations. There were some genuine laughs to be had, and today was a weird, unmedicated kind of day for me, and I really needed this.

There is one creepy guy who is the leader of the baddies who for some reason reminded me of a demented John Malkovich, and I couldn't stop laughing at him. I think this was intentional. I couldn't think of a way to make this sentence fit with the other stuff I wrote about the actors so it gets its own paragraph thing.

I have no idea how to end this so I'm just going to stop.

I like quirky and offbeat but this was just terrible and boring. It's Wrong Turn meets girl power and it fails to deliver in horror or laughs. It does have some gore but it's still not enough to make this watchable. Skip this.

The effort is clear, but it just doesn't work

Moviegoers who normally associate French cinema with art house product may be taken aback at first by this French movie, which is not only a comedy, but is made to be in the vein of movies made by the American Troma studio. However, the novelty of this French movie being atypical quickly wears off, and the rest of the movie is quite a slog to sit through. Its heart is in the right place, but it fails in pretty much every way you can think of. It has a strange feeling throughout, because it's a mix of strong European flavors with heavy Americanisms, and the two extremes simply don't fit together very well. But there are additional problems. Not one character in the movie is likable or interesting - the girls are too brash for anyone's taste, and are annoyingly stupid. The bad guys are just stock hillbilly characters that never get to utter one single word or explain in any way their motives or way of thinking. The attempts at humor are predictable, repetitious, and nowhere as amusing as the filmmakers think it is. And surprisingly, there is absolutely no nudity or sex on display at any moment! The only reason why I am not giving this movie the lowest rating is for some enthusiastic bloodshed and a mercifully short running time (77 minutes.)

It's Pretty Much Everything It Promises To Be

It's not possible for a film like this to be an instant classic Oscar-winner. That said, that was never the purpose behind it. The intent was to give the audience a chance to have fun, relieve some stress. Since it does just that, deserves more than a 5/10.

Highly amateurish, almost entertaining

This would need a lot more work in order to end up as an acceptable comedy gore-fest. As it stands, it's just an amateurish effort that only has to offer a couple of laughs and a couple of raunchy jokes. I'm sure you can find something better to watch.

Not as bad if you understand they references

This movie seems to be a mess, and it is, but I think it is like that on porpuse because of the references: Texas chainsaw massacre, Death Proof, Wrong Way and many serie B movies.

Yes, the movie follow two different ways: violence an sexual humor for adult people, but childish jokes to show case that nobody, least of all the director, is taking this film seriously.

fun and gory

Deserves higher than rated. Cast were all fun and you wanted each, almost all of them to survive. The plot reminded me of a take on the hills have eyes and wrong turn but turned into a comedy but with the same amount of gore. Altogether a fun and gore filled film, just wish it was longer.

If you like Tromaville movies you'll love this, but watch it in the original French the English dub sucks.

If you like Tromaville movies you'll love this, but watch it in the original French the English dub sucks. This movie is a Jovial spoof on cult horror. In reading the original plot-synopsis the director obviously decided to parody and missed mark. It is funny and entertaining but only in the original soundtrack. The english dub leaves out the music and rhythm that makes it entertaining. The actresses are a real hodgepodge and that adds to the hilarious nature. If you like gorgeous women kicking inbreed hillbilly ass this won't let you down. Ignore the reviews that watched the English dub that tried to make it straight horror they didn't get it.

The Inbred Hunter Thing is Boring

A girl's volley ball team takes a detour and becomes hunted by a group of redneck cultist. The girls have conflicting personalities and no concept of "team." The film is a comedy-horror that spoofs the "inbred redneck" films in what appears to be a generic way.

There is a "singing" cowboy for no other reason than to give the guy a job. The production had potential if the script writer had taken his time.

Guide: Plenty of potty mouthed girls. No sex or nudity.

Wrong Turn and Deliverance meet a bunch of high school volleyball player girls. It's supposed to be a comedy, it's not funny at all. It's boring, unbelievable, with bad acting (or the script is that bad that there is nothing to work with). It's short but not worth investing the time in watching.

Comedy horror that almost tries too hard

Girls With Balls is the type of movie you would watch for a few cheap laughs, a little gore and lots of hot girls running around in shorts. In an era where low brow humour is at the forefront, this movie aims even lower.

It has its moments but the issue with the movie is that the characters are so unlike able. They are so negative with each other and whinge and drop secrets about boyfriends even as they are being hunted like animals. It is almost Beverley Hills 90210 meets Wrong Turn.

There are some very funny moments like the cat scene and the girls show some fight and cleverness along the way. I also understand the French version is way better than the English dubbed version which means the girls are not so sympathetic - but if I was getting chased by a group of forest boys, worrying about who has slept with my boyfriend would be the least of my concerns.

There are some really gory moments that are more over the top splatter moments than the average horror movie which work well. However these are too far between to produce a memorable film. The coach is an absolute riot and a scene stealer whose presence elevated the movie but that is about it,

If you like to take movies to seriously don't watch it, if you want to disconnect your brain and laugh for a while this is your movie to see. It makes no sense at all and that's not wrong at all, lets you enjoy the tire even more

Amusingly trashy French horror comedy

This horror comedy of centred on The Falcons; a women's volleyball team who have just won the championship. They aren't a closely knit team though; they are constantly arguing and it is clear they don't all like each other. After their winning final they are returning home with their coach in a large campervan. Following a detour they go to a hotel hoping to spend the night; inside they find some strange locals who they manage to offend... the next day these locals start hunting them.

It is clear from the start that this is going to be a ridiculous film; the only real question is would it be trashy in an entertaining way or just rubbish? For me I'd say it was entertainingly trashy. Horror comedy is a hard thing to pull off; too often they are neither scary nor funny... thankfully this managed to provide plenty of laughs as well as some scares... it is also impressively gory. If you like shotgun decapitations you'll find plenty to enjoy here. The characters are irritating at times; they won't stop shouting at each other even when they are being hunted and many of them aren't sympathetic. The cast does a decent enough job; it was never the sort of film that would feature Oscar winning thespians. Overall I'd say it turned out better than I feared so would recommend it to fans of gory movies who want a bit of a laugh.
