  • I've just created an account in order to post a few words about this movie. I can't really write reviews but I simply think this movie deserves more popularity.

Canadians had us wait 11 years for part 2 of their "Good Cop, Bad Cop" story. It was worth it but I just wish they did more movies. So many things here as just done better than in American flicks.

The characters aren't flat, they are real, likable with own backstories. It's quite rare for comedies and action flicks. The action scenes also feel real, not fake like another Fast and Furious, not filled with CGI, believable. The acting is great. The main duo just killed it! They delivered laughs, seriousness and even had that chemistry, like true old friends. The story is not cliché. No one tries to clear his name, no revenge, no saving the world. Just two cops doing their job. Not some heroes, not some adrenaline pumped guys. Again, real! But don't get me wrong, it's not a documentary. Plot is interesting and have some twists. The whole movie is over 2 hours and I didn't have that feeling, quite usual for 90 min. US movies, it ended before it started. Every minute was planned well.

But what I found here that I don't find in American movies is some cultural background. Here, in Europe, we don't really know much about Canada. They love their maples, hockey and some of them speak French. That's basically all I knew. Now I even know some Quebec French profanities! And inserting French words and expressions into English (and vice versa) sounds interesting, sort of fresh. It made me read more about French Canadians and Quebec. Good read, I recommend!

So good job, Canadians, please do more!
  • The first Bon Cop Bad Cop played a lot on the humour of Quebec French meet Ontario English with a theme well known and love by every Canadians of every language, Hockey.

I had a little fear this second instalment was not gonna be as funny as the first one due of this hockey parody theme now gone, and the fact that both actor have aged quite a bit, but i was WRONG. Its as good as the first one and in some parts even surpass it.

Obviously in Quebec we don't have the budget of the American industry, so do not go see it hoping for a ton of special effects and explosions or stuff like that. There is some action but it is before everything else a comedy and in that regard it stand as a very good one and maybe even better than recent American comedies. It remind me a bit of Lethal Weapon with more humour and less action.

Honestly i don't go see much of our own Quebec Productions as i am spoiled by the Hollywood big budget industry, but when i rented the first one i really loved it, i bough the DVD and i watched many time, so i promised myself i was gonna see this one in theatre and i am very happy i did.
  • If you didn't like the first movie then you shouldn't watch this one either because it's basically the same kind of movie. Just another cops versus bad guys story. A different story but nevertheless it's about the same. I did like the first one and so did I again with the sequel. The chemistry between the English speaking Canadian Colm Feore and the French speaking Canadian Patrick Huard still works. And again like in the first movie I barely didn't understand anything of that Canadian French. And French is my first language as a Belgian. That says enough about how weird it is to us to hear them speak. I was glad there were subtitles because the only language I understood clearly was the English. It's a lighthearted cop comedy in the same genre as Lethal Weapon but instead of a black cop and a white cop you just have a French speaking and a English speaking cop. It worked for Lethal Weapon and it also works for Bon Cop, Bad Cop.
  • A very good movie that is maybe just tad a little sub-par from the first one, but it yet very funny and awesome.

The only negative I have on the movie is with Mariana Mazza. It shows that they wanted to make another funny cameo character like Louis-José Houde in the 1rst film, but that one was badly handled and her part felt to much forced and unfunny.

    But, still a good movie! 8/10 !!!
  • Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2 (2017) This is a Canadian action-comedy sequel starring Colm Feore and Patrick Huard in a reprisal of their original roles. The film carries on the buddy cop formula. The two cops remained friends but gradually grew apart. They are reunited to investigate a car theft ring which turns out to be a front for a much bigger terrorist plot. It's being considered a strong sequel that just couldn't catch the lighting of the first, due to the 11 years between films. The only thing I thought was unnecessary was an illness angle. Other than that, I thought the chemistry was still there. The movie would have faired much better if it was released closer to the original.

Not for me though, I had the timing right. I just watched the first movie the other night and a couple of days later had this on the menu. You have the two main characters from the first one in this, but also some bit players. Although I didn't check if the kids from the first one are also playing the adult roles in this one. Now don't think because I make it sound like you have to watch the first one, you have to watch it. For story purposes you don't have to. To get little jokes (like the use of a french word for example) you would have to. And to get the relationship the two guys are having.

Having written all that, the movie holds up to the fun the first one was. But also the drama the other one had. It plays again on that thin line and stays mostly on the correct side of it, never really falling over. Action is good too and the story is suspensful enough. Good sequel then
  • If you can stand the flipping between french and english within the same conversation and having to read half of the movie, then this will be an ok buddy cop movie.

There is nothing special about it, the guys from the first one are back and looking grey around the edges. The bad guy is decent enough and the action is ok. I would recommend if you want something new to watch but if you really want a good buddy cop movie stick with the classics like Lethal Weapon.
  • I'm usually not a fan of sequels of any kind. Eleven years ago, the original ''Bon Cop Bad Cop'' portrayed the divergences and similarities between Anglo- and Franco-Canadians perfectly in a movie filled with diversified humour, stunning action sequences and a whole lot of suspense and tension plus some entertaining cultural elements related to ice hockey being Canada's national sport. This movie had a huge impact on my teenage years and is still one of my favourite films of all times. It was clear that a potential sequel couldn't be any better than this.

And yet, ''Bon Cop Bad Cop 2'' was more than just a positive surprise and is in fact as great as the perfect original movie. The creators managed to achieve this stunning result by developing a balanced mixture of trademarks from the original film and refreshing new elements instead of just copying what had been done eleven years earlier. They kept the talented two main actors Colm Feore and Patrick Huard who have great chemistry on and off the screen, the diversified humour including amusing cultural inspirations, inside jokes for Canadians and raw comedy elements plus a solid dose of action and tension. The movie includes a handful of new elements such as a convincing story line expanding to the United States of America that fits surprisingly well in times of Trump's presidency and the rise of terrorism all around the world, two main characters that have clearly influenced each other both negatively and positively but who have also become more mature and serious in a credible way and an overall more brutal and sinister tone that makes the action sequences even more explosive, the suspenseful elements even more gripping and the humorous parts even more relieving.

Even though this movie also focuses on Canada's diversified cultures, it might be more accessible internationally because it's easier to relate to the characters and their everyday life problems as well as to the story line involving two countries now. To be honest, this film is much better than any flick mixing elements of action, comedy and thriller cinema that has come out of the United States in the past ten years. More people should watch this movie as well as its brilliant predecessor. I have never liked sequels but now I hope that there is going to be another film of this franchise in the future. This movie makes me proud to live in Canada.
  • In A Nutshell: The story was NOT as good as with the first movie and really fizzles at the end BUT the interplay between the Anglophone and Francophone Canadian cops is LOTS OF FUN. If you liked BCBC 1, then it's WORTH THE WATCH. If you have not watched BCBC 1, then correct that immediately before watch episode 2 - it is hilarious!
  • My score: 3/10

No originality in this film. It is a collection of ideas taken in TV series (NCIS - girl in computer science, etc.)

Moreover, the acting is bad. It looks like they are waiting all the time to say their reply like amateurs.

7.5 / 10,633 votes. The Facebook "friends" of Huard voted it is clear.

Music is very ordinary when there is music. Only the technique (image, sound, etc.) is correct.

A film to avoid unless you are one of 10,000 friends of Huard!
  • Wonderful movie by wonderful actors and director. Plot was very nice and funny. We Americans failed to understand some of the real issues in our country which is creating our hatred towards one another but here they tried to explain whatever we see and we hear are not true. Politicians are making our country very very bad. I never expect Canadian movie will be this much awesome. Very very thrilling and interested movie. i would recommend to watch this movie ad i promise you will enjoy.

    Thanks.
  • Despite the eleven year gap between the two films, it still managed to maintain the entertainment and action of the first. This time to do with cars. Our buddy cop duo have better chemistry in my opinion this time around and its bitter sweet in the end. Wish there would be a part three but i know it might not be possible.
  • It's 8 years since David Bouchard (Patrick Huard) and Martin Ward (Colm Feore) were forced onto the same case. Ward is now RCMP trying to take down a car thieve ring. They raid a warehouse and finds Bouchard working undercover. The ringleaders are nowhere to be found. Ward pretends to be Bouchard's hostage to ingratiate him into the organization.

Bouchard is often separated from Ward which diminishes the buddy cop aspect. It's a problem since that's the original's main appeal. There are some over-broad comedic touches especially the idiot Americans. The villains' scheme does not necessarily make sense but other stuff don't add up. The duo's chemistry is fine but the movie struggles to coast on that.
  • Nice storyline to excuse the brotherly funny exchanges oh so canadian. Pretty good with enough action and situations to keep watching to the end. The dvd has subtitles in either languages for the bilingually challenged.
  • The two cops from the prequel, "Bon Cop, Bad Cop" (2006) are reunited in Montreal to solve a car theft operation that is linked to a terrorist plot: Martin Ward (Colm Feore), a Toronto anglophone who is now in the RCMP; and David Bouchard (Patrick Huard), a Montreal francophone who is working undercover within the car theft operation.

This film is a good-humoured cop caper with fine acting but the premise is far-fetched with a subplot that is resolved too quickly by the film's end. There are many good laughs in the film but it sometimes goes too far with scenes of violent torture being portrayed as "funny".

But praise must go to the two lead actors for their individual performances as well as their solid chemistry. Huard is hilarious as a character who is animalistic in his ways of working, living, and being. His soft side is also genuine in scenes involving his family. He also has a hilarious line directed at the U.S. President. Feore is superb in scenes of emotion involving his character's estranged son as well as his own health difficulties. Another acting bonus comes from Mariana Mazza who is hilarious as a hyper, foul-mouthed computer hack.
  • i did not see the first film, so took me few moments to understand the french/English combination, and the pace was a little on the slow side - in the beginning, and actually all thru the film. But, the acting was amazing! best acting i have seen in a very long time, the 2 main characters were completely convincing, their friendship was obvious, and the movie looked completely real, no special effects and real day to day behavior. the face of the hooker after beating her boss was so full of truth, a real pleasure.
  • I think,The movie has good and bad side.If we come bad side, the movie so slow, movie need to speed but ıt has some good side as action scene.Action scene little. There are some funny joke,If you catch it,you will laugh. Before I didn't hear actor names but they play serious,I think it's make funny to movie.
  • I really loved this movie. Patrick Huard is becoming one of my preferred producer. He really has a way with people.

This movie makes you go through all kinds of feeling because the actors are good and the scenario is marvelous. You don't get bored at all and you even don't expect some things that happen.

It is like someone else said as good as the first one but I think it is even better in my opinion. He went further into the feelings and he succeeded. I am not one to weep for idiotic reasons but this guy succeeded in "emotionalizing" me. Their acting is perfect, believable, human and funny.

Colm Feore stunned me. What an actor. Just thinking about some scenes brings laughter but also tears to my eyes. He got me badly, very good acting.

If you haven't seen the first one, don't let it keep you from seeing this one. The only relations between both movies are the characters, the movies are entirely originals on their own. It is not the Hollywood crappy series genre.

    Hope you enjoy.
  • This movie has a very weak plot so very easy to ditch, but what really kills it is this STUPID DUMB slang language.

I will watch subtitled movies in a dozen different languages, but this tripe has 3 languages interchanges with every dialogue, it is intolerable.

If it was all in French it would be fine, or all in English OK too, but this Stupid slang that a minority of Canadians even understand, what damn demographic is that? So maybe they are pleased that their bastardization of language is in a movie but you peez off all the English and French speaking viewers.

Even mixing French and English in the same scene is intolerable; just make a French one end to end or an English one end to end.

I should point out that I had subtitles and it was still intolerable! As I said, the plot is so weak most people will abandon it or wish they could get those hours back (yes it is horrendously long too).

So if you value your time or simply wish to be entertained, GIVE THIS TRIPE A MISS. You will be glad you did!
  • Brilliant an tabarnak. Better than le premier. Tres amusant, very much enjoyed it.

Though the movie had so much potential but the plot holes in the story, halfhearted screenplay, weak performance from the actors and actresses made it a failure.

As it is a crime based action film with a hint of comedy it required some versatile characters who can do both action and comedy but alas that was not the case. Which robbed the laughs of most of the good puns and made them a little stale.

This could have been a fun and interesting movie but lack of efforts to sort out the plot holes and the average performance from the cast let the movie down.

    Not Recommended.
  • I'm very impressed! I can say my expectations were exceeded! I laughed so much from the beginning til the end! You must absolutely watch this movie! We watched Bon Cop Bad Cop 1 a couple of days before in preparation for this movie and the sequel is at least 100 times better than the first one. In my opinion, this is the best comedy produced by Canada. Quebec cinema has so much potential !
  • In Bon cop bad cop 1. The daughter scolds her father "Papa Ne Pas Drole". (You're not funny).... and that's what this movie is.. This movie tries hard, but like any other big production. Much of the effort went into graphics, special effects, and yes even a convoluted conspiracy plot involving yup! The American FBI.

Anyways our duo reunite by accident during an undercover case, years after the "Hockey murder/bomber" case as aged retiring cops, Ward has been promoted to the GRC (Gerdame Royale Canadien. The Quebec branch of the RCMP), and is suffering from Lou Gheric's Disorder. He wants one final large bust to end his career. He enlist Dective Bouchard on the case... ..
  • Warning: Spoilers
Both Huard & Feore are interact exactly how you expect after 10 years. Great actors! The plot reversal (spoiler) with Martin needing David is well written and gives room for great performances by both actors.

The rest of the cast fits around them, especially Mazza's over the top hacker.

Also, great Canadiana buried in the script and performances without hitting you over the head with it.
