During World War II, five different Chinese people fight their way through Japanese Air Force attacks to protect an important military machine in Chongqing, 1940.
Jack appears to be based on Claire Lee Chennault, a former US Army Air Corps officer who became an air advisor and flight instructor to the Chinese government. Chennault later organized, trained, and lead the Flying Tigers. In 1942, the US air elements in China were placed under his command.
The Japanese officers' uniforms are flashy olive instead of khaki, and almost bright turquoise instead of navy.
The US release, re-titled "Air Strike", is cut by 25 minutes from the original 121-minute Chinese version. It also dubs all the Chinese language sections of the film. Other releases, such as the UK (under the title "The Bombing"), feature the original version with part-English, part-Chinese dialogue.
