Pierre-Jean Ducis made essentially shorts, perhaps wisely ,because his feature films which are still available ("Le cavalier Lafleur" ,"le plancher des vaches" ) are not what one calls "lost treasures of the French cinema."
This short must not be mistaken for Renoir's contemporary "Le crime de Monsieur lange" ,which also featured Jules Berry .
A man (Berry) is afraid his childhood friend may become his wife 's lover ; a card play turns wrong and the husband accidentally kills his buddy ; afraid of the police, he and the distraught wife (Suzy Prim) put the dead body in a trunk
and set off for the railway station .On the platform ,there 's another trunk which belongs to an old military man and his much younger wife .Both couples take the wrong one when they get out of the train.
This is a very funny well-acted short ,full of black humor ; the best is the officer's anger when everybody calls his wife "your daughter" .The ending is eminently predictable, but does not spoil your pleasure .
