  • Firstly i can't believe this has received such a shockingly negative review!!... This is just a easy to watch reality show,no better or worse them any of the other shows, that are flooding our TV's at the moment. Why the 'main reviewer' disliked this to the extent they did is beyond me and they really need to lighten up!... Everyone knows none of these young adults are there to find 'ever lasting love', but it's easy watching and the most unoffensive show on the planet! It will never win any awards but if you want to watch something that will just take your mind of everyday life,i'd say give it a go.
  • It's just an easy to watch reality show. Actually I can say it's a bit better than some others (e.g. Ex on the beach which is disgusting and overwhelming). I also do think that it's one of the most unoffensive shows! It usually brings up smile on my face while watching it. I feel that it displays quite well participants' skills and it boosts their creativity. It's an entertaining and lightweight show which in this case is a good thing.
  • When it's good, it's a bit of fun.

When it is bad, it's really really bad.

Season 2 was nasty and glad the Spanish government forced some rules.

Season 4 was horrible with no dynamics, no passion and no love. Zero chemistry between couples. Zero chemistry with each other.

TV shows like this id say is one of the main reasons why I now watch most of my things online instead of on an actual TV. I just don't get it. I can't see whats so entertaining about whatching a bunch of people who care about nothing else apart from their own vanity and stabbing each other in the back. One of the things I find most shocking about Love Island is that it had more applicants than Oxford University.
  • Dumbed down TV so beloved of governments. Made by morons, performed by talentless wannabes, watched by the lowest common denominator. Utter bilge, like all the other reality programmes, Towie, Made in Chelsea etc., etc.
  • I know what you are thinking. This guy is uneducated, or he is materialistic, or he is phony, or he is a troll, or he is objectifying women, or he is immature, or he is etc., etc., etc....

The truth is that this show exists because people are watching it. You can come here with your insecurities about your body, or your intellectual superiority complex, or your elitist opinion that every TV show and movie should be a literary masterpiece.

Art should be accepted in all its forms and should have diversity. Those of you who call for the show to be banned or canceled should be ashamed of yourselves. Art should not be censored in any way. In culinary arts, you can eat a filet mignon and you can stuff your face with a good old fashioned hamburger. In fashion, you can wear an elegant tuxedo or you can rock a nice thrashed pair of blue jeans.

I do not see where all the hate comes from. I can watch the Godfather one day and relax to enjoy Love Island the next day. I am a husband and a dad. I work very hard and there are days that I am physically and emotionally exhausted. There is nothing wrong with my wife and I sitting down with some iced coffees and our smart phones to semi-watch a brainless show that blatantly celebrates the beautiful bodies and stupid naiveté of our youthful years... to blow off some steam remembering when we did not have the responsibilities of being middle aged.

I love this show in all its simplicity, just as I love the artistic masterpieces on the other end of the spectrum. It is better to review the show and explain its tone and purpose than to badmouth it. Badmouthing the stupidity of the people on Love Island (or those who watch it) is the same as denying you were every young and stupid. Youth is youth, plain and simple.
  • ...last season I was flipping through the channels and caught the season more than half over watching it in my office playing in the background. Then same thing following week. Then I was looking forward to the next episode. I must say, even though I kept cringing, I also kept watching. It's damn addictive lol.

So watching this season from the beginning, it's just as good, but with lots of cheesy drama, which is still entertaining. I feel the producers are bringing in fresh meat just at the perfect times, and going after the right islanders. What I don't remember from last year, is if I laughed as hard as I did this season listening to Iain Stirling as the funny narrator. It's a solid and entertaining 7/10 from me.
  • Reality TV is trash but this show is the worst of them all. Seriously cringey to watch, whose dumb idea was it to broadcast excrement like this?! I'll be frank, you might as well get tied up to a chair and be forced to watch a pile of food scraps slowing rotting away because that's exactly what it feels like watching this show! It sucks! Also, if you think this show is good SHAME ON YOU!
  • I sat down to watch this with a friend for us both to laugh at the contestants for the first episode and find something more meaningful to do with our time after that. As we finished watching the first episode we both knew it was utter crap and probably a waste of time but despite knowing this we continued to the next episode, we spent 12 hours of our lives that night and subsequently every episode since then wondering why we were watching this horrific yet addictive pile of excrement. The thing with it is that the producers have realised what they are making and unlike all others of its kind have steered into it.

While others site us to watch X-Factor / The Voice / Britain's Got Talent and other such garbage I would honestly cancel all 3 of those shows for another season of Love Island right away. In the episode featuring 12 idiotic young adults attempting to care for plastic children I have probably laughed more times than collectively across all the "mature comedy" on TV nowadays.

The plain raw humanity of the show ridiculed by the producers is comedic and dramatic gold and I have thoroughly enjoyed my viewing. I'd advise new viewers to give the first episode a go. If they don't like it (like the vast majority of the other "unbias" reviewers of this program) then don't watch it.

Please note this is a review of Season 4 only.
  • I can understand why this show appeals to the younger generation because it feeds to their hedonistic pursuit. Good-looking civilians wearing skimpy clothes on a beach. Steamy and stimulating. This is why porn sites nowadays generate more traffic than Netflix.

I don't blame people who enjoyed watching this.

Honestly, the combined IQ of the people on this show could be counted on one hand, the show is unbearable to get through 5 minutes, never mind 5 seasons. I'm not going to go into spoilers, and you should thank me for it. It is basically a bunch of idiots on an island talking utter bs and sleeping with each other while an annoying person is narrating everything, with his voice so agitating that you'll end up with a migraine.

I am pretty sure I put more effort into this review than the creators did when creating this waste of a show.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It is not highly complex, it does not need much concentration or anything like that. You can put it on in the background and still enjoy it. It really has a lot of drama that can be very entertaining most of the time and you will laugh at the ridiculous things that are considered "problems". If you're searching for something with intense scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat, you are in the wrong place. It entertains you when you just want to relax and not have to think alot through a show to uncover the plot. I recommend for 16-22 year olds. Season 2 was definitely the best with the most drama, so before you give up on it go watch season 2 with Zara losing her Miss GB crown, Alex and Olivia❤, Adam's metaphors, Malin confronting Terry, and Scott and Kady's constant fall outs . If you're into Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Bachelor, this is right up your alley!

Go watch this it will keep you busy and you might just find the weirdest things funny.
  • Watched this (Only Season 5) initially out of Boredom but, actually found it's ridiculous drama a bit entertaining. This Version and Season are the only one that seem worth watching for a few of the characters. The American version was full on Garbage compared to this! The one guy admitting his Mum shaves his butt was quite funny in a horrifying way. :O.
  • This show is absolutely appalling and diabolical, it should be axed immediately for the good of British television and society. With multiple contestants engaging in substance abuse, developing depression and committing suicide due to the extremely dangerous , exploitative and deeply poisonous effects of this bane, this show is pure evil. The show itself is of abysmally poor quality; it is nothing more than a depressingly narcissistic and spiteful dating show, with no interesting or redeeming qualities whatsoever.

All the contestants are shallow, conceited, desperate, mean-spirited, fame hungry losers who have no real talent or skills in life, but simply desire to be famous and earn money for participating in this trash. The contestants treat other horribly and the challenges themselves encourage nasty behaviour, meaning the show promotes bullying. All the female contestants are treated particularly poorly and abusively by their male "love interests", as well as being exploited and objectified sexually, which is incredibly misogynistic and sexist.

This shows promotes narcissism, laziness and poor moral values among its gullible audience, in particular young people, who would rather aspire to be reality TV stars on terrible reality TV shows, rather than achieve academically or pursue professional career paths. Someone needs to finally incinerate this festering, unholy plague before this infectious virus spreads any further throughout society, with fire to reduce to smoke and ash, which is what it truly deserves. Perhaps once this show has been destroyed, ITV can start producing more intelligent and sophisticated television for viewers to watch, rather than having their brains rotted into mush from watching this utterly diseased bile.
  • Brain dead TV! Im pretty positive and will watch anything but this..... I've only ever rated one other show this bad before.
  • The reality gravy train marches on for the brain cell impaired, and does nothing to inform or entertain.

This type of programme is the reason for the dumbing down of mainstream TV.

I cannot abide such mind numbing rubbish and really wish it could be stopped.

Alas, it will not, as long as it makes money. This to the detriment of good, informative and entertaining shows which are cancelled, upsetting fans that have followed closely.
  • Love Island is brilliant. I feel like people who say it's terrible and inane probably just aren't conisseurs of ironically binging stupid reality TV shows. There is so much stupid drama and arguing in this show, it's hilarious, but it does get really boring for the last few episodes when everyone's properly coupled up. Seriously addictive TV.
  • Watch some beautiful young people do what they do best. Limited appeal, but it's a fun show to watch if you're looking to take your mind of everyday stresses. Don't come here if you want anything serious, you know already that's not what this is about, good old fashioned light entertainment.

    Awful
The standard of TV has never been higher. However if that is the case then how come utter rubbish like Love Island gets made?

What a horrible programme. Buried away on ITV2 worryingly it seems to get good ratings and return year on year.

It's everything that's wrong with TV. It sets a bad example for young people (who worryingly seem to love it) and offers absolutely nothing to the world.

    I can't believe that:

    A) people watch it B) That ITV keep bringing it back.

    Appalling. Just appalling.
  • To all the people rating this show 1/10 stars, WHAT do you think you're watching? It's reality TV, for Lord's sake! Not every show needs to be a thought-provoking drama! I love Love Island for what it is. Comparing it to other reality TV dating shows, this is by FAR one of the best. As a former fan of the Bachelor franchise, this show is MUCH better. It's so much less predictable and there is less catty drama. You can see how the cast genuinely make romantic and platonic connections. The format of the show keeps things interesting in ways that other reality TV shows do not. This is a perfect show to watch after a long day of surviving modern life. It's lighthearted and fun and good for what it is - reality TV.

I've never enjoyed a reality show before, the male and female contestants are all more sweet and amusing than I'd expect for such beautiful people, lol.
  • Watched one episode this borderline nearly made me quit reviewing tv and movies this utter trash heap of a trash show this has to be stopped worst show i have seen in my life time so many dumb people on this show im sacred to even think of its fan base for this show id fully NOT EVER RECOMMEND THIS SHOW NOT EVEN TO REVIEW DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF PLEASE (SAVE YOURSELF)

    1/10 0/10 IF I COULD
  • If you can't sit back & enjoy this for what it is..... you have NO personality! There is a reason so many of us Americans are watching it. If SNL makes fun of it, it's because it is good! You know the producers of this show are like of hell yes this is pure GOLD Trash! I have grown up watching British stuff. But I even have to put subtitles on. It makes u one feel better about just turning 30 and two that there is just as much trash in England. As here in America! Seriously you think you won't watch 50 episodes of this but you will! It's so fascinating to hear the British slang! & the things they reference to us. They put the ppl in the most awkward situations, but there mostly all so cocky they just don't even notice! I eat crap up with a spoon! If you don't get what they are doing here... then I feel bad for y'all! Cuz it's a great thing to just have on. Numb out to in this terrible terrible time we are living in!! Sit back and enjoy it's Bloody Brilliant!
  • Nice to have LI back, after a year when there's been so little on TV. But after last night I feel I've heard it all: a guy should 'educate himself' if he doesn't like 'fake' women? This is the way we're going: whatever anyone thinks or does, if it's fashionable, you can't criticise it - can't even have a personal preference about it - and your opposition to it is down to either ignorance or, if you persist in it, the simple fact that you are a bad person and deserve to be Cancelled. It's not enough to obey Big Brother: you have to love him.

It was shocking watching Hugo go through his auto-da-fe with those women, where he confessed his heresy. The poor berk, he obviously didn't have any of them in mind or he wouldn't have said it - all they've done with their fussing is to draw attention to themselves, their vanity and their flakiness. Maybe it would have been more merciful to execute him at the end of it, as the Inquisition did; since he clearly wasn't going to get anywhere with any of them, even before this.

(For the benefit of anyone who does not understand historical or literary references, or satire - and I'm sure LI's audience includes quite a few of those - I'm not really suggesting anyone should be executed. It's just a joke. I have to stress the point in case I get cancelled myself...)
  • Answer: the people who will downvote my review here. Seriously I couldn't get past 5mins of the plastic cretins. I had no idea that any human being could be this shallow and useless.
