I love the story line and characters. However, I get sick of the Neriman and Koray and the nonsense of them. I get the idea behind having those characters but some of their scenes are drawn out and over the top.

You'll fall for Omer smile, smirk, laugh, and his hot body as he show it a lot ! 2. The way Omer call Defne. oouhh i love this one.. 3. The love between Omer and Defne as both really2 love each other but not in the cringe over sweetness way like ask laftan anlamaz. 4. Their chemistry is superbbbbb !! thumbs up to the director and both main lead. 5. The way Defne act whenever she is near to Omer. that is soo adorable and Defne is sooo beautiful.
reason not to watch ! 1. the drama is tooo long ! 69 ep with 2 hours running time each is hell for those like me who used to watch korean, japan, thailand, taiwan drama which usually only have bout 16 - 30 episodes with 1 hours running time. so think carefully whether you have time to watch this or not. or mybe u can skip most of it and just watch Omer and Defne part since that the only thing that you might love. 2. the drama start best at first few episodes and start to be boring in middle and get superb at the end.. 3. it is a bit dragging with the main lead keep being back and forth with each other. 4. i feel tired waiting for that girl confession to Omer bout why she lied and yada yada bla bla 5. to be honest the aunt and koray is a bit annoying though. 6. new character keep popping out of nowhere making a new misunderstanding each time eventhough it get solved pretty fast. 7. MOST IMPORTANT ! you'll have a hard time to move on from Omer and Defne !! i dont know if this is good thing or bad..huhu -
toni_s7018 October 2021The show is good, the story is good, I like the acting for the most part but I really can't stand the Neriman and Koray characters. I know they're probably over the top on purpose but their scenes get so incredibly annoying that I just skip over them since I'm watching it on recordings. If they were toned down a bit and in smaller doses, the show would have been much better, in my opinion.

Mileva884 November 2017Definitely one of the best if not THE BEST TV show of this genre that I have ever seen - world wide. Even though I have previously had problems with Turkish television, this one managed to break through language and any cultural barriers. It is very modern, colorful and eclectic, but at the same time shines light on some of the Turkish traditions and customs through some significant events.
One of the greatest problems I've had in the past with Turkish television was that I often felt the dialog didn't match the scene. Actors would often seem either completely detached from the scene or overacting it. That was was not the issue here (I'm talking about the main story and main two characters). They had an amazing chemistry. Line delivery, gestures, mimic... it was truly an enjoyment to watch.
The only downside to the show is the fact that since the show was planned to last for about 3-4 months and have just over 20 episodes, but ended up running for year and a half with 69 episodes, changes in script were necessary. And it shows! For me, by the time that slight setback happened, I've grown so attached to the characters that it didn't really bother me, but I can definitely see why certain people found that problematic.
Like most Turkish television shows, this one relies heavily on emotions... Not just romantic feelings, but those between family members, friendships, colleagues! Characters are truly well-rounded and they have a great development throughout the entire show. Side characters are just as colorful and a bit 'too much' at times, but they all play their part in the story.
If you give this show a chance (and I strongly recommend that you do), you will be laughing and crying, get warm fuzzy feeling and get angry at times. And you will be treated to one of the most beautiful and well-played love stories ever. -

I have been lately watching a lot of shows and at first when i stumbled upon this one i wasn't too sure if i would like it - but to my surprise i have watched the series over and over again almost 3 times now and i think i might never get bored of it either. I can still watch the entire series n-number of times. Beautiful series. Every character in this series is amazing. I did not want the series to end and i am still hoping they might bring another season.

This is one of the funniest series I have ever watched. Every episode have a new adventure. You can't stop watching it. It is full of fun dialogues and situations. I still re-watching it whenever I am not in a mood or have a bad day. It really makes me feel better. I highly recommend to watch it. You won't regret!

I honestly don't always like Rom Coms based on the predictability of the storyline, but this one was a sweet production based on the strong chemistry between the main stars and the general friend group
I thought the comedic characters were annoying and overdone, and I had to skip through almost all of Koray's scene. Less of him would have been better.
The writers could also have done far more to develop Dephnes bravery over time. The same run from situations because of fears and telling stupid lies for no good reason was characteristic of season 2. And it was annoying. However, I LOVED Omer and his chapter growth, I loved Iso and his depth, and Sinan and his sweet natured naïveté
A happy ending for all... although I would have loved to see Nuro and Koray get what they deserved. If you like RomComs then This one is for you!! -
esterelisa12 December 2017I've already watching soo many drama like Korea, Japan, America, Meksico, China but never like this one. KIRALIK ASK just the bestest drama that i watch so far in my life. I have never been hooked like this watching a drama, it's been 7 months I just repeat watch this , even other drama no longer interesting to me. Everything in this series is soo perfect.

omilkov19 September 2022It started off very interesting, but somewhere around episode 35 I stopped watching it, it was too repetitive, the main actress was a bit squeaky and annoying, it seemed like it wasn't going anywhere. Omer was and is hot and very sexy, but seems like it's not enough for her. She had a secret and couldn't tell him and this was repeated over and over and over again... And the aunt, OH the aunt, she is a different story, two-faced, only looks after her own butt, her and her daughter were too much... The uncle came around, he became a better person while I was still watching, no clue what happened in the end...

If you can skip episodes 30-50 even better

The series begins with a lot of suspense and scenes well prepared, great chemistry between Defne & Omer. than they confess that they love each other, and suddenly they only fight and get back to each other, over and over again. What's there left to watch ? Better end the series at this points. instead you'll face 40 other episodes. I regret the very good start that I had to go back to the first episodes to watch it. Unfortunately the series is unnecessarily very long. After episode 30, the authors begin to add unnecessary stories. And even the actors can no longer capture the interest. endless Scenes of disputes between the two protagonists Defne & Omer. The second season is totally useless. What was the use of introducing Pamir if Defne was not going to fall in love with him? Really disappointed because the series started very well.

evagreen-10623 September 2022I've become addicted to Turkish dramas recently and this one was recommended by many people. It started out great. I loved the humour, the chemistry between Alcin and Baris is insane and they have cute moments. The aunt Neriman, with Mine, is the funniest character, if we decide to ignore how selfish she is in reality.
But 69 episodes were way too long. This series should have been stopped at around 20. It became one of the most frustrating series I have watched. With Defne being very very irrational. Does she have insecurities? Sure. So does everyone else. It's not an excuse to hurt your man.
It was actually painful to watch after the episode where they finally spend a few days together and she just leaves leaving a one sentence note for Omer. How does she not realise how bad that was? And always blaming the others, when it was all her choice.
The last 15 episodes I just clicked through as it was frustrating and painful at the same time. There are better series out there. -

Great cast, good storyline, good script, super chemistry between Elcin Sangu and Baris Arduc, top notch acting, good mixture of comedy and family drama and a really feel good time with proper happy ending. It's what a romcom dizi should be. I like both season 1 and 2. Despite the fact that it had just a bit too many episodes, it still gets a 10 from me. It could be shortened and thus made more enjoyable but still it's a series I have rewatched so many times I lost count. Sometimes I just watch some parts of it (especially those parts with Elcin and Baris) before I sleep - like a bedtime story to lighten my mood.

devikajadhav4 January 2018This is an amazing show. I have seen other turkish shows, but this one is very different. It has a very global feel to it, very vibrant and insanely funny. The entire cast is top notch, absolutely no doubts in that.
But the best part of this wonderful show are the leads. Baris Arduc and Elcin Sangu have a fire-crackling chemistry, and their acting is superb.
I have seen ask laftan anlamaz also, the stories are very similar. But Kiralik ask came before it and does a lot of things way better that it's counterpart. This again is thanks to the leads. Omer and Defne's love is just amazing to watch, they make you feel along with them.Their love and the pace at which they fall for each other is way more believable than Murat and Hayat.
It was originally intended to be a short series but because of the ratings it was elongated, which is why some viewers might find it too long, but I was not complaining as I got to see more of Omer and Defne. -

The movie was very funny with all Koray and Neriman scenes also mine. And the romantic scenes between Omer and Defne. I loved the film and I wanted more because the ending will let you like this with a feeling that you wanted more.

marko-v28 February 2023First of all, I had mixed feelings about this series. It started off as a really intriguing plot, although "the gold digger" premise could not be left unnoticed - still, it was for a good cause, so we can forgive that. What I liked about this Turkish comedy drama was the fact that the filming was really technically perfect, the panoramic scenes and views of the locations were outstanding, vivid and colourful, showing the modern city of Istanbul and making you want to visit and experience it. I also liked the traditional elements, mahalah houses and neighbourhood chemistry and relationship; this was also very well done. The different sound themes of the awesome intro song were also perfect, although not all of the other songs used for the soundtrack were catchy or even interesting to hear more than once or twice. They had interesting lyrics for the required scenes, but were played too many times. The score section of the soundtrack was, however, superb. Especially the deep, love/suffering themes which, although a bit too serious for the otherwise comical show, were very emotional and would make you cry just by listening to them. The composer did a great job with these.
What I didn't like about the show was the overall lack of telling the truth and the over-exaggerated longevity. Not even after ten two-hour episodes do you hear the main characters say "I am in love with you". Although beautiful, the main characters seem to assume too much, and you know the old saying "assumption is the mother of all mistakes", thus leading to false conclusions on too many occasions. They were not direct or they couldn't say honest things to each other. Especially Defne, who comes up with all sorts of lies and false statements just to justify her attitude, not to mention her transformation from a snappy girl to a business woman with a dose of feministic demeanor - but she somehow still can't transcend into honesty, even with all the change she undergoes. And this lasts for too long and is repetitive throughout many episodes. It was like the characters were incompetent of saying what was actually on their minds - which eventually led to Omer being hurt at the wedding to the point of rightfully not wanting to see Defne ever again. There are a few good characters, like cool Ismail, warmhearted Sinan, and Omer - the only decent, consistent man of integrity, depth and professionalism. But, alas, the aunt and Koray... She never gets punished for her plotting. Too much and too long. Koray was actually amusing with all the faces he could display and snappy comments he would make, backed up by cartoonish sound effects and music. But if all this had been a lot shorter or properly dosed, it would have been just about right. I fast-forwarded many of these parts. In some segments the series resembled those Indian TV dramas where the scharacters significantly stare at each other forever with dramatic music and thundering sound effects, or start a sentence in one episode and finish it some time in the next. Dragging a lot.
Overall, I think the creators did a great series, but fell under the hype when the pilot episodes became popular, so instead of pacing the story in a normal and natural way, they unnecessarily prolonged the series, making irrelevant episode segments and long scenes in their efforts to maintain the viewership and ratings. -

It has the same story as many other Turkish series do for example Ask Laftan Anlamaz. If you call this series to be the best then you haven't watched 'Siyah beyaz ask' yet.

Kiralik Ask is arguably one of the best romantic comedies I have seen so far. The story line although long and winding keeps you glued to it. The best part is how the creators of this show have handled the romance between the main protagonists. Nothing was rushed. The blossoming of romance, the flirting phase, the push and pull, the jealous phase, the slow but steady building of trust, all the tests that their love is put through and how they come out of those loving each other deeper than before and how it leads to the ultimate ideal relationship coupled with spiritual kinship where nothing else matters - each of these aspects have been amply displayed. I go back again and again to see the evolution of love between Omer and Defne. When two people are in love, you want to see them express it in a drama. And oh boy! we get enough of those moments!! All of them beautifully woven into the story. Nothing seems out of place. The only negative part of the serial is the unusual amount of screen time given to the charaters Koray and Neriman. It gets boring at times and has me skipping all those parts when I replay. Overall - fantastic casting, story and direction. I would love to see more of Baris Arduc. He seems like an exceptional actor. His face displays all the subtleties of emotions so beautifully that you could watch his scenes on mute and still get what he is expressing :).

Defne has so many character flows that watching the show is cringe worthy and I rooted for her to be dumped all through the show.
The episodes are around 130 minutes and probably 65 minutes of that is looooong pauses , songs and staring contests between the characters.
Save your time, watch Erkenci Kus instead which is a better version of this one and the characters are more likable.

She is lying to everyone from beginning to the end and not in a smart way either :)
In the first 52 episodes she's lying to Omer than after that she's lying to her family. She's supposed to be this bigwig executive who solves all issues at work yet in her personal life all she has are excuses after excuses on why she has to lie. The reasons she gives for lying are so pathetic. Whenever she's caught lying or is urged to confess her answer is "I was going to tell you.... but then I couldn't". Umm yeah, ok.
I understand that's the concept of the show, that the relationship is built on a lie but it's just not believable or endearing when Defne suffers. One of the worst female characters written, I don't understand how this show was so highly rated. -
preethi-santosh22 January 2018Kiralik Ask (Rental Love) has been one of the few romantic drama where the relationship between the lead actor are so well written. The heroine's confused state of mind and the hero's unshakable love and trust in his lady was great. Quickly solved misunderstandings, open expressions of love between the leads and lots of love, hugs and kisses made this show truly special. Koray, Necmi, Sinan, Neriman etc etc are good and bad in parts. But the leads make everything worth enduring. Great chemistry and performance made this one of my favorite shows.

paryanazari7 February 2019In turkish series we usually just see cheating and naughty characters who have evilly plans and a hard achieved love with a lot of giant holding backs... but this one has a good love story between two good person and it contains fun moments (i love kuray!) and beatifull sensible feelings.
