There’s a deceptively simple joy in the music of soul singer-songwriter Zawadi Noel. At a recent Brooklyn show, the New York-via-Washington D.C. musician pulled off the tricky feat of uplifting the audience without wading into maudlin waters that trip up other performers. Maybe it’s the childhood years spent living all over the world, but both onstage and on his recently released debut Ep Waiting Room, Noel displays an earnest empathy to connect with listeners, destroying the wall between artist and audience.

Always Sunny Season 14 Episodes 9 & 10
While FX and the media have rightly been celebrating It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s historic, record-tying 14th season, it does seem pretty bizarre that Fxx is burning the final two episodes of this season so unceremoniously, back-to-back on one night. Perhaps they think folks are too busy on the night before Thanksgiving to tune into the season finale? Regardless, “A Woman’s Right to Chop” and “Waiting for Big Mo” both represent two different molds of the typical Sunny outing – the political/social commentary and the genre experimentation/situational comedy. Both episodes execute those models extremely well, with “A Woman’s Right to Chop” getting a slight edge just because it’s so sharp and biting.

A few months ago we learned that the team behind the Blair Witch Project were developing a TV series based on the horror film franchise. Co-creator Eduardo Sanchez said at the time:
"I can’t really discuss. I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You’re close. You’re in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know? The more you think about it, you’re like “That might be the perfect… a TV show. You know?” So, we’ll see what happens, but I think that’s the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV."
Now, Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate is officially developing the series as part of their original digital content for their new Studio L brand. On top of the Blair Witch Project,...

New channel aims to screen “carefully curated, meaningful stories” but still needs to comply with Indian censorship.
Indian broadcaster Star India has launched a channel, Star Gold Select HD, to show specialist and story-driven Hindi-language movies to a “discerning audience”.
The move comes as India’s growing ranks of “non-Bollywood” independent and arthouse filmmakers are gaining greater recognition both in India and overseas.

As expected, Anu Menon’s highly-anticipated film, the Naseeruddin Shah-Kalki Koechlin starrer Waiting has struck the right chords with movie-lovers. Besides garnering critical acclaim, a tremendous word-of-mouth feedback — which is a true testament for any film — is additionally ensuring that the film continues to be a crowd-puller.
Waiting is the story of a retired professor whose wife is in coma for 8 months in a hospital. He meets a terrified young wife in the hospital whose husband has been in a sudden accident. The film traces their friendship where they learn to laugh and live from each other.
Right from Naseer-Kalki’s fun camaraderie and their sterling performances as the poles-apart strangers who become friends while waiting on their comatose spouses, to the beautifully-woven story filled with laughter, love and hope, Menon’s ‘Waiting’ is being hailed for its refreshing content and lilting music.

Waiting
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Kalki Koechlin
Directed by Anu Menon
There are hospitals — and there are hospitals — to take care of the ill. But there are no schools to to teach us how to cope with the ill.
Waiting is about two people whose respective spouses are seriously ill and in a coma. Shiv (Naseeruddin Shah) and Tara (Kalki Koechlin) are just…waiting…waiting for a miracle, perhaps?
Of the two Tara is the younger, hence angry, confused and bitter. Shiv, who doesn’t know his from Adam (or Eve) takes charge of her — sort of — holds her hand — sort of — and guides her through the various stages that the bereaved must go through before they attain a state of calm acceptance.

Known for her outspoken ways and brutal honesty, Kalki Koechlin reveals that she does feel that the guys have it easy when it comes to shooting. Especially, since the actors don’t require as much to work on their looks as the actresses do.

After receiving a tremendous response for its trailer, with close to 1.7 million views, now there’s much demand for the song of Anu Menon’s ‘Waiting’! The song ‘Tu hai toh main hoon’, which plays in the background of the trailer, has caught everyone’s attention and the audience clearly wants more of it. Giving in to the demand, the makers are now contemplating changing the order of the song release from what they had planned initially.
Music composer Mikey McClearly is known to spin background score and songs high on youth appeal and this is no different. He has earlier worked on films including Margarita with a Straw, Shaitan, Shanghai, David, Bombay Velvet, Nautanki Saala, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Shaandaar. His songs are upbeat, yet the soothing melody strikes a chord in the hearts of the music-lovers.

The trailer of Naseeruddin Shah – Kalki Koechlin starrer Waiting released today. The recently launched poster of the film is already getting an overwhelming response online and the trailer is expected to create a bigger buzz.
While the unconventional casting is proving to be a huge draw for film-buffs across, director Anu Menon’s deft handling of the deeply emotional film, soaking it in optimistic wit and humour, has also been earning much acclaim at all the prestigious International film festivals where it was screened to packed houses.
At the heart of it, Waiting is a film about a special relationship between two people who befriend each other unexpectedly in a hospital while nursing their individual spouses in coma. It is a film about grief, yes, but it is also about confronting it with optimism and learning to live with courage, love with faith and laugh with hope.

Kalki Koechlin’s upcoming film ‘Waiting’ is already earning accolades internationally and her performance alongside Naseeruddin Shah is being highly celebrated too. In the film, Kalki plays a young, sexy and brash newly-wed whose husband is critical with a brain injury post an accident. Anu Menon has bagged the Best Director award at the recent London Asian Film Festival for her Naseeruddin Shah–Kalki Koechlin starrer ‘Waiting’. The film, that was screened at the closing gala of the festival, has been wowing not just the critics and cinema-lovers, but even the regular public at the several film festivals that it has been screened at internationally and this win cements the praise it’s been garnering.
Thrilled with winning a top honour, Anu says, “The applause and love we got for the film was overwhelming to say the least. And the ‘Best Director’ award was a sweet cherry on the cake. What everyone across the board appreciated was the humour and hope in the film. It was very satisfying as people noticed and discussed the smallest nuances. Everyone said Kalki and Naseer were extraordinary. As a filmmaker I got the kind of high you always crave for!

Wife of acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam and noted actress, Suhasini Ratnam, is all set to step into Bollywood. The actress is making her debut opposite Naseeruddin Shah in Anu Menon’s Waiting that is slated to have a world premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) on December 11. Interestingly however, the director reveals that Suhasini, who has acted in over 50 films in the South and even won a National Film Award for Best Actress for a Tamil film, required a little persuasion from her filmmaker-husband before she accepted the film.
Anu says, “Suhasini was shocked when I offered her the role of Naseer’s wife. She said that the only time she had ever spoken in Hindi was with a Bihari cook.” The director reveals that in the film Suhasini’s character speaks a mix of Hindi and English with a strong South Indian accent. “She used to take...
