Mania is the latest film to be directed by Jessica Cameron, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Saturday 20th January. I got chance to talk to Jessica and ask her a few questions about what we can expect from Mania, the inspirations behind the story and the difficulties of working on an independent film.
What can we expect from Mania?
Mania is a lesbian love story which has been described as a cross between Thelma and Louise (1991) and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) which I think is an accurate description. It’s about these women who have been in a relationship for a couple of years. They are madly, passionately, deeply in love and unfortunately, one of the women suffers from Mania. Circumstances in the first five minutes of the film cause anxiety to spike and shit happens. Her lover’s reaction is...

I first covered Truth or Dare back in April of 2013 when the teaser trailer for the film dropped. Now, nearly four years later, the movie has released and I’ve finally had a chance to view it.
Truth or Dare is the directorial debut of Jessica Cameron. Horror fans are most likely familiar with Cameron through her horror acting roles. This time around she’s behind the camera and the result is a pretty stellar debut feature film.
Four years ago Cameron told me “One of my favorite things about this project is that it goes to so many of the dark places that people fear.” It’s safe to say that she accomplished that with Truth or Dare.
Truth or Dare stars Ryan Kiser (House of Manson, Crossbreed), Jessica Cameron (Mania, American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomon), Heather Dorff (An Ending, Red Eye...

An eye-opening, or should I say door-opening, Q&A with the director of Never Open the Door courtesy of our very own Derek Anderson kicks off today's Horror Highlights! Also, we have trailers for both Pitchfork and Red Hollow and a call for submissions for Popcorn Fright Film Festival 2017.
Never Open the Door Q&A: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Vito. When did you first come up with the idea for Never Open the Door?
Vito Trabucco: Thanks for having me. The idea first came from Chris Maltauro, my producer and co-writer, our camera operator Mike Bates, and me one night in a parking lot when we wrapped on another shoot. A few months prior I completed my first feature, Bloody Bloody Bible Camp. We were just eager to do another one.
Where did filming take place and what did that environment add...

One element that’s so appealing about independent films is the originality that’s used in approaching their subject matter. For viewers, it’s exciting to see a wildly new take on classic horror plot premises. It’s this jolting new perspective that writers Tristan Clay and Destinie Orndoff offer with their new film, Red Eye. The film’s teaser […]...
