  • Personally. I was done with "Rocky" movies after the famous one. There have been many Rocky pictures, in all sorts of sports and competitions. Once this one went the exceedingly predictable route, the film was sunk. In many of these overtly Christian themed pictures. the lead actors give very good performances. John Major Davis is excellent, his facial expressions conveying his various moods and feelings well. Matt Leddo gives a strong performance in an otherwise stereotyped role. For all the BIBLE talk, however, this move hypocritically fails to turn the other cheek.

I really wanted to like this movie. I like to support Christian movies. But there is one word that came to mind while watching this movie was "cheesy". The acting was not all that good. I like talking about God, Christ all The time, but in this movie it was just strange. The MMA angle was weird. The MMA wasn't really that big part of the movie. It doesn't help that you don't like the main character.
  • I started watching this film, and I couldn't believe it, that it was a born again Christian movie . Right threw the movie there was reference about God. It was far from a action movie. As if you need to get life coaching from a movie, show me violence and corruption, It's only a movie people, you need to be entertained, not fall asleep. And at the end of the movie he says my god is in my corner, well I thought he was everyone's god. In the storyline they should have mentioned that it had Christian references, and watcher beware. Hey I'm not a hater of someone's beliefs Just don't go putting it through a movie that's supposed to be about MMA Not finding God, how can you find God if not lost .....
  • If you are not a Christian, you will hate this.

If you are a Christian (like myself), you will still probably hate this.

"The Fight Within" is a Christian MMA movie. Yes, you read that right. Christian + MMA. My party consisted of the only people in the theater when I went to see this movie, and I just knew that this was going to be awful. So far, this is the only movie I have given a 1/10 stars, and here's why.

I enjoy movies with a religious message, but come on. The main character goes from "Gaaaaah, I hate God and I'm edgy" to "God is awesome and I'm going to forgive people but nevermind I'm going to beat this dude up" after two dates or so with this girl whose character is as flat as the Greeks' idea of the shape of the world.

    2. The storyline tried to combine these different ideas that, quite simply, don't work together.

    3. There was a five minute-long montage of the main character, his love interest, and all her random friends you never hear from again frolicking at a lake, and I just couldn't handle another second of it.

    4. The worst part of the movie for me was the acting. I just couldn't believe the actors as their characters. The lines sounded recited rather than acted, but at least they tried.

Overall, maybe the worst movie I've ever seen. Yep, 1/10.

I couldn´t get pass the weird connection between Christian belief and MMA . I thought the movie would end by the guy turning the other cheek and refuse to fight, it being a Christian movie and all, but then... They fight. And obviously God was ok with it, because the opponent was a bad dude. I have always thought that God would dislike people fighting and hurting people?

What I really thought was interesting was how the movie turned out to be more of a recruit movie, considering how it not so subtle showed (on multiple occasions) Christian community as nice place of inclusion: The laughter, fun, hugs and handshakes between and with people who never met before, etc.

But I get that others might like the Christian message in this movie (that it´s ok to fight bad dudes with your fists?)

Some of the most popular fighting films of all time have flimsy looking fake fight scenes that ignore real techniques. (I'm looking at you Rocky.) That's not the case with The Fight Within. The actors spent nearly a full year training for the film. They took REAL hits to the face, used actual MMA grappling techniques, and left the audience wanting more. That's actually my main critique with the film. I wanted to see more fights! A few more fights could have been added to prove the reputation of the main character. Maybe another fight in the middle where he could step in to stop a mugging or some other crime, and then just demolishes the criminal that tries to fight him. This would also have been a good opportunity to advertise how effective MMA techniques are when against anyone not trained in mixed martial arts. Overall, the message of the film is noble, and the fights are good.
  • I picked this up at Walmart, sensing it was a Christian movie with fighting action that I could recommend to my unsaved friends that are into fighting. What I discovered is that this movie has something for everyone. There are no twists or big surprises, but it's a good story. The light romantic interaction between Logan and Emma was wonderful. She could see that he had a good heart by observing his kindness toward others, and was drawn to him because of it. Yet something was troubling him. Actually, a few things. So Emma is a woman on a mission- to lead him to the one who can help him through all this: Jesus Christ. The only negative critique I have of this movie is that the man who plays as his brother doesn't look anything like him.
  • I just saw this movie this week, we downloaded it through iTunes. My boyfriend wanted to watch this film because his kick boxing buddy recommended it to him. It was a perfect balance for people who like fighting and for the story. The message was really sweet especially the scene when they are by the lake, that was my favorite. The acting was great. I didn't recognize any actors so I looked them up after and surprised that they're upcoming actors, I think they're going to make it big. The fighting scenes were intense and my boyfriend was impressed. I would recommend this movie to people who are interested in MMA/ martial arts but also young couples because of the love story. It somehow caters to both audiences perfectly.
  • The movie includes moments that young people like me we do live and are going through at the moment of our age, and it is good to know and realize the situation you're in, that's one subject of many this movie will teach you. From the beginning the movie is catching your attention, the production, writing, choreography, actors, image, sounds and so on are great! Due to certain situations we often avoid some opportunities that arise in our lives. I really like the main question in this movie: Who are you>!? ..and what defines you as a personality. Finding myself in some states like those described in the idea of this movie, and knowing that some friends are in the same state, I had the pleasure to recommend after watching it, because we all are looking for answers and it is very good to have the correct resources to our questions that are bothering us. Very well chosen subjects and questions, the message comes very easy to understand even if you know nothing at all about MMA fighting, it is a movie for all hearts.
  • There are reasons for the rating of a 9! First, the Message. Hell fire and brimstone does not appeal to the masses. But out of a spirit of love much work for the Kingdom can be done. As this is the case here. No tricks no scare tactics just offering an example of how to be a witness to those who are searching. Remember a movie can only tell part of a story. I believe The Fight Within is a great testimony of the circumstances that we all face. Our daily struggle of inconsistency etc. I believe that this movie could and should capture the attention of all youth groups whether it be church groups clubs sports teams dance teams etc. is it gonna knock your socks off with action? No, but it gives you that! could something spoken in the lines of this movie cause a change in someone's life, heart, spirit, mind? I truly think so! ATTENTION ALL YOUTH LEADERS...show this movie to your youth!
  • I hate fight movies. My husband is not a fan of mushy romance but this one appealed to the both of us-a rarity. He is was impressed with the fight scenes which he thought were realistic and well done. We both thought the backstory was endearing without trying too hard and both the lead actors excellent I especially appreciated the message- not preachy" or too cheesy. It is also refreshing to watch a movie that's not over processed. A sweet, endearing film which makes you ponder a bit and then there's the adrenaline and athletic side to boot. My 17 yr old son, critical of everything just because he's 17, surprisingly liked this film as well due to the fight scenes So, for a family with very different tastes it hit the mark for all 3 of us. Again, a rarity
  • As a member of a Mixed Martial Arts gym for the past 5 years I can say with confidence this movie is a very realistic portrayal of an amateur/small-time professional Mixed Martial Arts gym and it's members. The actors were believable as fighters, aspiring fighters, and former fighters. The explanation of why Mixed Martial Arts fighters fight was the most eloquent and accurate explanation I've ever heard. Disciples of Christ will more than likely enjoy this movie more than non-believers. However, anyone who has ever been in the cage will respect this movie, regardless of their spiritual or religious affiliation. God bless.
  • As a writer/actor in Atlanta, I've had the privilege of working closely with director, Michael Gordon, and writer/producer, Jim Davis. Both men have a powerful vision for Christian filmmaking, a popular niche among consumers that is rapidly gaining credit in the industry. The difficulty of producing a Christian film lies in the balance of relaying a biblical message to your audience in a way that is still intrinsically artistic and somehow not "preachy." I'm happy to report that these men (along with the talented cast and crew) did it.

The Fight Within is the powerful story of a young MMA fighter (John Major Davis) struggling with the loss of his father and his own significance in the world. The theme of forgiveness is beautifully woven throughout the film, along with the power and love of God.

I recommend the film to both Christians and non-Christians alike. The theme of redemption applies to all of us. But I can only say so much here. Go see the film for yourself! It's worth it.

I watched The Fight Within this passed summer, and I honestly thought that everything in the film was superior! From production, writing, stunts, choreography, and so on was great! I would highly recommend anyone watch this film, and it doesn't matter if you know nothing at all about MMA fighting, you can still "catch the spirit" of God's unconditionally love for people! Being a locally filmed movie, that really impressed me to see what God can do with just a little willingness in people! But one thing I would write to anyone reading this, don't walk into watching this movie thinking that you know all about it, because the Lord can reveal different things to different people. With that being said, The Fight Within exceeded my expectations of what God can do through a movie that was made from the ground up!! I want to congratulate everyone for a job well done!! God Bless you.

We watch lots of movies, usually in groups that has both guys and girls. One of the things that we mainly liked about this movie was that everybody in the group liked it. The guys and the girls. And no body had to fast forward to skip over anything nasty. That rarely happens. There were some great fight scenes and I was pretty blown away by the grappling that I haven't seen in a movie before. Good job by those guys . We all thought this was good clean entertainment and agreed that we would watch a sequel that tells what happens to the main character after the girl leaves to go do mission work. I'd like to see more training, sparring and matches. We give this movie a 2 thumbs up
  • This movie is a must see for anyone that enjoys a great story. The thing I enjoyed most about The Fight Within was how the story progressed from the fighter trying to find his true place in life to a man who knows exactly who he is. I think this is probably one of the greatest struggles of young people in America and I was glad to see that someone in Hollywood will actually address the identity struggle. Another thing I really enjoyed was the fight scenes. Anyone who has ever seen a real fight could tell you that the fight scenes in this movie were real. In my opinion this movie has a great balance of actual fighting and MMA grappling with a story line that grows the character and identity of a person through the fight on the inside. I would watch it with anyone and would recommend it as a family friendly action film.

Every so often a film comes along that has characters in it which allows the ability for anyone to relate to. Whether you're a man or a woman, young or old, young teen or adult, you'll be able to put yourself right into this movie. We all have a fight with something within us and this movie gives us all a chance to view someone else's struggle from the outside and seeing how many of us would handle the same situation. We're all hardwired with the "Fight or Flight" reaction and sometimes miss the all important "Surrender". Love the fight scenes, best I've ever seen that weren't real! I thought the story, the acting, the action and the overall message of this movie, made it one of the best movies I've ever seen. Don't miss this one!!
  • Where to begin... This film was somehow unpredictable while at the same time being incredibly predictable but in the best way possible. Straight from the jump literally seconds into this breathing piece art you're made instantly aware that something is here is wrong... so very wrong but somehow also very, very right.

That is because as the movie goes on you realize it is not the film that is doing something incorrect, no rather it is you the viewer who is at fault. That in a nutshell is the beauty behind this film, it somehow keeps you guessing to the point where even when you know what's going to happen the impact of the scene seems to heighten rather than diminish. Which is so totally opposite of what one would usually expect but that again is the beauty behind this movie.

If you're looking for a film filled with breathtaking fights, heart stopping drama, and scenes that are literally bordering on the divine... watch this movie.
