Originally they were going to be rabbits, but the executive said to make them human so they can be relatable. Chris Savino agreed and liked the idea. He said in an interview that if he didn't follow the recommendation, this show would not exist.

Clyde has two dads named Howard and Harold, making them the first gay interracial family to appear on a Nickelodeon show.
