Bioware has confirmed that none of the main characters in the original trilogy (such as Shepard, Garrus, Tali, or Wrex) will be returning. They have however, confirmed that familiar races will return. In the E3 trailer, a glimpse of a Krogan squad mate can be seen. Asari, Salarians, and humans are among the other confirmed returning races

Bioware, the producers of this Mass Effect and the original trilogy, have hinted at the possibility of the original 3 Mass Effects being remastered on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Having been denied a remaster, Microsoft made 2 and 3 backward compatible on the N7 Anniversary in 2016.

Bioware has confirmed that the new protagonist will go by the name "Ryder." This is a nod to Sally Ride, the first American woman in space.

The title "Andromeda" refers to the name of the galaxy in which players will get to explore. Exploration will be done in an entirely new ship called the Tempest, which is based of the Normandy blueprint specs.

This game has been confirmed to take place around 600 years after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy. The mission to explore the Andromeda galaxy is said to be launched sometime between the events of Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, with the voyage taking about 600 years.

The vehicle, the MAKO, will be returning to the series. It was previously in the first Mass Effect, but was absent in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. The newly updated design is named the NOMAD.

In the Deluxe Edition of the game you are given a pet Pyjak (Space Monkey) and you are told: "Don't feed it after 23:59, don't bathe it, and limit its exposure to solar radiation." This is a reference to Gremlins(1984) where the titular creatures would transform into dangerous monsters when fed after midnight, multiply when wet, and die in direct sunlight.

A trailer was released on November 7th, 2015 (N7 Day 2015) showing a spaceship heading to the new galaxy players will be able to explore in the new game. It was narrated by the voice of the female Commander Shepard, the main character from the original trilogy.

The first game in the Mass Effect series to feature full nudity.

The Andromeda Initiative unlocks an exclusive in-game item upon completion of all 6 orientation videos.

BioWare confirmed that the protagonist will be human and that players will be able to select the gender.

Release Date: March 21st 2017

Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017) includes 4 cast members from the award-winning series Game of Thrones (2011). This includes Gethin Anthony (Renly Baratheon, who voices Gil Brodie), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell, who voices Dr. Lexi T'Perro), Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand, who voices Moshae Sjefa / Sloane Kelly) and Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy, who voices Pathfinder Raeka).

Hanar and Quarians do not appear in the game, but they are briefly mentioned.

Bioware has largely hinted at the possibility of being able to play as different species. In the original trilogy you could only play as a human called Commander Shepard. When asked about being able to play as more than humans they simply responded, "Player choice is very important to us."

In the mission A better beginning Sam says direct intervention was necessary. This was something Harbinger said when possessing a Collector in Mass Effect 2.

With the Initiative being implemented after Mass Effect 2 and before Mass Effect 3, it has been originally confirmed that the ending of the original trilogy will have no impact on Andromeda. While many of the characters may not even be aware of what happened, futher information in Alec Ryder's memory logs reveal that the Andromeda Initiative was given the green light when the reapers were about to invade the Milky Way.

Liara T'soni make a vocal appearance in Alec Ryder's Data Logs and archive pads, Garrus's father makes his first appearance and makes reference to everything Garrus told Shepard about their conversation, and Shepard is referenced only by name (but the gender chosen for Shepard in character creation determines whether the character is reffered as he or she).

The Andromeda Initiative launches in 2185, between the end of Mass Effect 2 and the start of Mass Effect 3. The Human ark Hyperion arrives at Andromeda's Helius Cluster 634 years after the launch in 2819.

As players progress in the story, questions of Cerberus intervention start coming into play.

Previous Mass Effect game's Space Hamster makes a re-appearance after a quick side mission on board the Tempest.

The game is set long after the events of the Mass Effect Trilogy.

EA/Bioware are no longer making story DLC for the game at this time. As such the fate of the Quarian Ark is unknown.

Kandros mentions a cousin Nyreen who was a criminal on Omega, this is the same Nyreen you encounter in the Omega DLC in Mass Effect 3.

Bioware and Electronic Arts confirm that the main character is not Commander Shepard, and Bioware and Electronic Arts also confirm that the character we've seen in the Mass Effect Andromeda E3 is named Alec Ryder; the in-game father of the main character (who will not be playable). This makes no sense story-wise, as Alec Ryder dies within the first 1-2 hours of the game.
