| Fun movie (mainly for kids)
I don't understand why the score is so low. Yes, it's not the movie of the century and yes there's advertising in it but the animation is good and the main character is likable. The plot is pretty straight forward, in the emoji world every emoji have to keep his one face on at all times but one emoji just can do it and he goes on a quest to fix himself so he can be like everybody else. I think it is mostly for kids but I don't see a reason why the whole family couldn't watch it together. I guess, if you're looking for something extraordinary or super clever, then it's probably not for you but if you just want to watch a fun animated movie with your kids, there's no reason not to enjoy it.

Quotes

Jailbreak: You know, women are always coming up with stuff that men are taking credit for.

Goofs

Jailbreak says that the Anti-Virus bot is illegal malware and can't get into Dropbox because it's a secure app. However, after she turns down Gene's advances while they're still in the app and he walks off upset the Anti-Virus bot reaches in and takes him, even though it shouldn't be able to enter the app.

Crazy Credits

End credits are depicted as text bubbles, with an appropriate emoji for each position, i.e. a camera for the director and monkeys for the writers.

Alternate Versions

For its UK release, Sony had to remove some mild language in order to receive an U rating instead of a PG - this included a visual use of "WTF" (considered 'disguised strong language' and worthy of a 12A) and a verbal use of "turd".
