Willowdean ('Dumplin'), the plus-size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, signs up for her mom's Miss Teen Bluebonnet pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.
Jennifer Aniston, who produced the film, used a number of Dolly Parton's classic songs on the soundtrack, since the main character Willowdean is a huge Dolly fan. Aniston also got Parton to write some new songs, including the theme song, for the film.
At 24:54, while Willowdean is reading Lucy's pageant application form, the application date, Lucy's age and Lucy's date of birth are visible. The date of birth that is shown is 5/5/79, which is incorrect. It should have been 5/5/77, assuming that Lucy was 16 years old in 1993.
