When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.
Director J.A. Bayona revealed his thought on the scripted ending, stating: "I thought it was great. Normally when you work on a story, you try to fix the world, and you try to find an ending that somehow completes the story, but in this case, it was an open door to a world that we'd never seen before, and that was very exciting."
Relax. Anything in here would be dead by now.
The T. rex does not appear to have a nictitating membrane (third eyelid), as seen when she wakes up inside the crate while Owen and Claire are taking the blood sample. Although there is no way to know for sure whether T. rex had this membrane, modern day birds and crocodiles (the living dinosaurs and closest dinosaur relatives respectively) do have it, as do other dinosaurs in the saga (Velociraptors, for example), making this a little bit odd.
Post-credits scene: Pteranodons are shown flying on the Las Vegas Strip.
The Italian version has three scenes trimmed for violence before submitting the film to the local censorship commissions. These are: 1) T-Rex inside a cage swallowing a goat 2) Indoraptor swallowing the bitten-off hand of Ken Wheatley) Ted Levine and then roaring his hat off. 3) T-Rex and Carnosaur ripping in two the body of Eli Mills (Rafe Spall)
