A chronicle of the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young, African-American, gay man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.
This is the first film since Braveheart (1995) to win the Academy Award for Best Picture without winning awards from the Producers Guild of America or Directors Guild of America.
Who is you, Chiron?
Chiron: I'm me man. I ain't trying to be nothing else.
At around 1h 04m 30s, when Chiron is entering the school and opens the second door pushing the emergency handle, the scene is instantly cut to show the room from the inside to see him enter, but, when he does enter, the door can clearly be seen being pulled, not pushed.
There are no opening credits.
