One of the most humorous cartoons I have ever seen
I saw this cartoon for the first time in 2014, when I was 17 years old. I have seen a lot of cartoons, but until this day, I find Hubert & Takako one of the funniest cartoons ever made.
The cartoons stars the pig Hubert and the fly Takako who live together in a house. Most of the humor is based on one or both of the main characters exaggerating about ordinary things. The duo easily gets hyped or stressed about something. Hubert has got a crush on Jennifer, the local check-out girl, and Takako can't resist the muscled Eros, who delivers pizza and is also a pool lifeguard. Hubert and Takako seem to be the only talking animals in the city, so they stick together like inseparable friends.
The art style is something I have never seen before. The noses of humans are placed in an odd way. Many things are carefully coloured outside the lines. The crown of trees are just random shapes of one color with a few twigs. Lots of different colours are used. All of this gives the series a special summer-like atmosphere.
I have heard the series getting compared with "Ren & Stimpy". I can see where that idea comes from. That series also focuses a lot on exaggerating. However, Hubert & Takako will never show any "gruesome gross-ups" and the series never gets disturbing in the slightest.
