Jack Ryan is an action packed thriller that will keep you entertained throughout the entire series and wanting more! John Krasinski has become such an amazing actor and is GREAT (as usual) as Jack Ryan! There have been a few actors that have already portrayed Jack Ryan and I have to say Krasinski is earth best so far. He really is such an underrated actor. Most people think of him as Jim from The Office but he's done so much more since then from action, drama, comedy, etc.! Even though some seasons were a little stronger than others, they're all definitely worth watching. I have really enjoyed the entire series and going to miss it now that it's gone.

You cannot go wrong with something based on Tom Clancy's stuff. I am also an avid fan of Reacher. So the premise for this series and the main plot points are super entertaining, everything has great pace, beautiful establishing shots all around the world.
My only big problem is the silly little decisions that constantly challenge our suspension of disbelief. I will just give vague references without mentioning seasons, episodes or characters so you will not be able to see them coming if you watch the show.
But I find it preposterous that they expect us to swallow somebody snapping a neck from a rear naked choke. Or a father trying to reestablish a bond with his son taking him "on the field" when the father knows for a fact his life is in danger. Or the bad guys missing their first shots when they have the element of surprise. I understand you need to get to a shoot out, but they should have set up the situations better.
Other than these details, AWESOME stuff.

The six episodes of the fourth season offer a worthy conclusion to the series, even if the level of the first and third seasons is not reached. But I was particularly pleased that the Swiss cameraman and director Lukas ETTLIN (born in Basel in 1975) directed three episodes of the fourth season. I had already noticed him positively through a few episodes of the pirate series BLACK SAILS (ETTLIN was active as a director from season 2).
What was remarkable about JACK RYAN was the well-thought-out plots, which were always reminiscent of real scenarios (especially season 3). The guest stars Noomi RAPACE and Tom WLASCHIHA as BND agents in season 2 and of course the fantastic Nina HOSS as the Czech Prime Minister in season 3 were also great.
Small weak point: The fact that Abbie CORNISH was brought out of obscurity as Jack's love interest in season 4 after she had not been mentioned for two seasons seemed all too forced.
After BERLIN STATION and CONDOR, JACK RYAN was simply a very entertaining spy series that has now found its well-deserved end.

Clancy's range of books have stood the test of time.
Go back and reread Hunt for Red October and understand this is a first time published author... who was so ahead of the curve most publishers didn't want to publish him! Insane in hindsight. Just goes to show marketing people aren't the brightest kettle of fish.
Although this series doesn't quite perfectly get it, it's certainly a lot better than the car crash of Rings of Power - at least the writers of this have obviously read at least some of the books and understand the characters. So yes, it's a bit more kiss kiss bang bang than the books but that is the medium.
Krasinski is a bit more gymbod than I always imagine Ryan but you know Krasinski will make anything work - and Krasinski's personality like Alec Baldwins and Harrison Fords is a bit more accurate - no offence to others but it's a personality thing)
Why John Clarke is called Mike November here is anyone's guess, but Michael Kelly is perfect for the role, as much as Dafoe was years ago. (Yes, I like the Without Remorse film, but that isn't the John Clarke from the books and this isn't a skin tone thing it's a personality thing.
Casting throughout the entire series has been great tho, Pierce, Cornish, Gabriel, and all the series co-stars...
A fair few other US Showrunners should learn a fair bit from this: Respect the source and don't insert your crappy untalented ego - you are not a better writer than these Authors.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is an Immensely Thrilling Jam packed Action thriller based on CIA's Strategic Operations. John & James have a nice combination of work. Cool thing is, how they rotate the story from one part of the World to another. Cool, and scenic views make the Audience stick to what they're here to watch. Critics might give it a 7.5 or 8, as must I should but I won't.
Might give it a 10/10 because of the feel that the production team has spent some huge budget as well. The Cool thing is, how they are moving from country to country at each season and story gets deep and deeper. Looking forward to more good work.

But I do not get why they had to bring up the annoyingly whimsy drone pilot.
That is the only chringe path, everything else is awesome. The plots aren't hard to understand, but they aren't built for morons like in most series nowadays.
And you maybe have to check twice the Executive Producer Michael Bay is really THE Michael Bay of fame, because it is definitly not overloaded with explosions and lame gags.
Some people dislike the second season and I'm not one of them. It is different, but the continuity of the main story is great and imo spans flawless between season one and two.
I am a huge fan of all the Jack Ryan movies and Krasinski is without doubt level with Harrison Ford.

Jack Ryan was even better than I was hoping. Now that I just finished this last season I can say it's just as good as the first three and has a satisfying ending. Like many here have already said the best past of the show is John Krasinski. He is terrific as Jack Ryan. Who knew when he was on The Office that he would be able able to pull off being an action hero? Here he plays Ryan as an up and comer with the CIA. This a smart, believable show that will keep you engaged every episode. If you're looking for a great spy thriller than keep you hooked and wanting to binge as quickly as possible then give this a try. You won't be disappointed!
A great series, with a rushed, trash finale. Game of thrones all over again.
Michael Pena is a great actor with a terribly written one dimensional character.
No suspense, subtlety or surprise in the final season just awful rushed propaganda pushing that the CIA is "not all bad".
I don't really know what to say short of the thought that the writers strike must have started in the production process of season 4.
It almost felt like a disjointed serial where everything was just an excuse to move from location to location, on Amazons dime.
The first three seasons were great, the last one had me thinking if you arent gonna try, why bother?

The "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" starts with a great season. You need to carve out time for binge-watching.
Tom Clancy Apr 12, 1947 - Oct 01, 2013 (age 66), may or may not have approved; that goes for Tom Clancy fans and readers.
Based on characters from Clancy novels Amazon has taken it on themselves to update the environment to today's standards of CIA agent films. The changes can be unnerving to people think in cold war era spy stories. We added sensitivity to drones, sensitivity to religion, ok sensitivity to just about everything. There was a tad of what looked like gratuitous sex. However, it was necessary for other locations in the overall plot. All the actors fit the characters.
The formula looks like there are short conflicts that get resolved in each episode and a seasonal that that gets wrapped up each season. No ridicules cliffhangers so they can stop filming at the end of any season.

The show has great production values, and I especially love all the shots on location around the world. It's fast-paced and adrenaline-laced -- but it's also so very dumb. The actions of the characters beggar belief, and physics, science, logic, laws or how things work in the real world seem to never get into the way of macho men saying random macho things while having fights, flying around in helicopters, or otherwise projecting "cool fantasy spy stuff."
I wish the writing got a fraction of the attention and budget that the rest of the show does, it could be so, so much better with more reasonable characters and plot.
I bought the final season of Jack Ryan on DVD. It is quite good.
However the aspect ratio is wrong and nothing I could do with my aspect control on my TV or player could fix it. Even after binge watching every episode the aspect was still annoying.
Having watched every season before I could predict what was going to happen next, but that was OK. I am glad to see that my cast favorites survived and was satisfied that the evil ones paid a price. The scenery/locations were superb. Casting was well done. I recommend this as great viewing.
I will attempt to buy again on Blu-ray and hope that the aspect ratio have been corrected.

In this day and age, we have no shortage of shows like these. Stuff like "Reacher", "Shooter", "Taken", "Punisher" and "Terminal List" all roughly scratch the same itch for a grounded gun guy vs government goons TV series. It becomes increasingly difficult to stand out when the series is based on books written roughly 30 years ago. I mean Tom Clancy has been dead for 10 years now. That might explain why so many of his stories involve some spark that will make the Cold War escalate to World War III between America and Russia. Most of Clancy's material has been mined in other films and even video games that anything now seems derivative. Similar to Jane Austen with romantic comedies, so it is with Clancy and political thrillers.
Well then, the difference has to come from the character. What makes Jack Ryan different than Jack Bauer? What made him a charming protagonist was the fact that he didn't have, as Bryan Mills would say, "a particular set of skills." Ryan is an analyst, a desk jockey. He was the everyman thrown into difficult situations outside his control.
I feel that edge is where "Jack Ryan" misses the mark. This Jack Ryan, particularly by the third season, is just the same type of action tough guy as every other political thriller show. It's not bad, just every change they make to Jack Ryan makes him more generic. They are making him out to be more like John Karasinki's character from "16 Hours".
That being said, they do an excellent job with the action in this show. The music, cinematography and acting are all top-notch. The political intrigue and stories are well done. I just wish it would appeal more to the everyman angle that makes Jack Ryan so unique.

Like many other reviews I find season 1 to be very good, entertaining, engaging and hook you so that you just want to keep watching the next episode. Season 2 lost all that magic and I had a hard time completing it. I finished season 2 feeling that I just had to to see I'd wear other reviews said about season 2 were all true, and they were. I had my doubts with season 3 but I think it got back to its roots. The story is once again engaging and get you hooked from the beginning. If you like season 1 and disappointed by season 2, I strongly recommend you give season 3 a try and I think you will like it.

Jack Ryan went through a complete transformation, for the worse. Rated the first season a 9. Now down to a 6. The plot is boring and writing not clever. Predictable the whole way through but I stuck with it hoping for a turn. I was left feeling robbed.

At first, I did not think I would like John Krasinski in the title role but he got jacked and was better each season. He was the right nerd/action hero balance. But, I confess that I didn't read the Tom Clancy books, so I can't say how consistent the main characters are between the books/movies/series.
Wendell Pierce is always good even though it seemed issues related to his character were inconsistent and incomplete. Since I lived in DC for many years, I appreciated references to the city and the picture of how the US government works.
The final season was the best (storyline, characters, and most of the acting). I'd love a Chavez-November spinoff because they were cool cucumbers carrying out crazy stuff and working well together.

Michael Peña (III) was the star of Season 4, and his portrayal of Domingo "Ding" Chavez breathed new life into the already thrilling series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. The fourth season of this action-packed series brings us back into the world of CIA analyst Jack Ryan (John Krasinski), who is now the Acting Deputy Director of the CIA. The stakes are higher than ever as he faces corruption within the agency and a global crime ring known as The Triad.
In this season, we see the return of James Greer (Wendell Pierce) and Mike November (Michael Kelly), along with newcomer Domingo Chavez (Michael Peña), who is a key player in taking down The Triad. Peña's performance as Chavez is both captivating and intense, as he brings a sense of urgency and determination to the role.
The performances of the cast elevate the material and make it a binge-worthy experience. The showrunners have managed to create a story that is both engaging and thought-provoking, with themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the cost of duty being explored in depth. The action sequences are well-executed and varied, and the tension is palpable in every moment.
The production values are top-notch, with stunning cinematography and a rich, immersive soundscape that pulls the viewer into the world of the show. The show does an admirable job of balancing the high-stakes action with well-developed characters and relationships. The relationships between the characters are put to the test as they are forced to make difficult decisions that could have dire consequences for those closest to them.
One of the most impressive aspects of the show is its ability to weave together a complex narrative that is both thrilling and thought-provoking. The show never shies away from asking tough questions about the nature of espionage and the toll it takes on those who engage in it.
In conclusion, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Season 4 is a fitting and satisfying conclusion to the series. It is a testament to the show's creators that they were able to craft a story that is both thrilling and thought-provoking, with characters that are both relatable and engaging. If you're a fan of action, intrigue, and high-stakes drama, this is a show that you won't want to miss.

Season 1 was great. It was suspensful, well-acted, briskly paced, and reasonably sophisticated as far as real world politics are concerned. The writers for Season 2 apparently scored a Groupon for lobotomies. I mean everything is just so dumb. Characters do things simply to advance the plot without any explanation or motivation. Noomi Rapace's character just magically materializes whenever the plot needs it. Worst of all, the writers managed to turn Jack Ryan into an uncharismatic idiot. The only reason he manages to solve the conspiracy is because Noomi's character inexplicably does him a favor off screen. Awful, just awful. I give it 4 stars because the footage shot in Colombia looks nice.
Don't listen to all the negative, whiny reviews. This series is really, really good. So what if it's not exactly like the Jack Ryan in the books? Like that's something new with Hollywood adaptations? John Krasinski did a fantastic job as the main character, and he was absolutely believable as Jack Ryan. The overarching plot was interesting, gripping, and well thought out. I was so hooked I binge watched the whole season in less than 24 hours. I can only hope season 2 comes soon! Great job guys!

Just finished SEASON 2 - Rating changed from a "9" S1, to a ZERO S2!
Hollywood ruins another one!
Below is my original review, my original score was an 8, now a 9.
I've just finished ep 3, and it gets so much better than the first!
I also see the organised, predictable, fake protest reviews by new accounts have flooded in lol!
**Still no social justice driven plot, no political party targeted, no special interest group pandered to. Just awesome action, and not the usual pc bad guys being only from USA or Britain.
**Just finished the series - great finish!
Original:
I really am a Clancy junkie - read every book, quite a few twice. Everything Campus, Op Center, Power Play, Net Force, and enjoyed every movie.
With so many series/movies being ruined lately by Hollywood social and political agendas, and everything overboard pc, so far after Ep 1 I haven't seen a hint of it! I hope that continues...
Very entertaining, good plot, going to be a nail biter Season 1, I think.
Lots of potential!
I think Tom would approve of this adaptation of his iconic character.
