A fragmented account of the life of Jeanne as she sets out on the path of adult life and gradually experiences the harsh realities of a woman's life in the 19th-century.
It depicts "life" very much through small gestures, emphasis on everyday acts, movements and feelings. Still, I was at no time bored, except that perhaps the poetic additions, which were beautiful, somehow interrupted the spell of the film.
The plot is turning around the fortunes of the characters enough to make it move quickly for the viewer. I have not read the book by Maupassant, so can not comment on its authenticity. Also I would like to add that the casting was superb.
