  • Warning: Spoilers
The movie dives into story right off the title card, no time is wasted with comedians (like in its first part - endhiran) and songs which is something to be appreciated of. While the concept of mobile phones turning against humans sounds cool theoretically, the way it is conveyed in the film through "aura, positive & negative energy, photons" was not anywhere near convincing. Everyone knows that the good will triumph at last but still you'd expect something clever to happen in the middle but the movie only progresses by stunts and visual extravaganza. Apart from few dialogues everything else sounds cliched, and the social message conveyed is conveyed just for the sake of it and too explicitly. BGM was not bad but nothing really strikes there, bit too repetitive. One dimensional characters with bad lip sync doesn't help it either. Watch it for the visual experience.
  • Only focus in VFX. No logic in movie .Message is good but story is week..I saw this movie in 3D. Hindi dubbing is so bad.
  • Warning: Spoilers
This movie is technically most superior quality movie, the VFX is really as par as Hollywood, watching this movie in 3D is a really good experience.

But this movie needed some improvements, story is too weak. Characters doesn't developed properly. And climax is soon poor, it just feels like blackmailing the Pakshi Raja.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Every once in a while, you come across a Bollywood movie with a lot of potential but an end product that is lacking at best. Assemble a great cast, include a stellar VFX team and find a social issue that people can relate to: what could possibly go wrong? The storyline.

First and foremost, the premise of the movie is based on the absurd notion that birds and bees of the world are dying because of the mobile phone usage. Non-ionising electromagnetic radiation has been scientifically been proven to be safe for all living forms under the permissible limits. While the idea that we should care for all living forms on the planet is commendable, using a dumb premise kind of dulls it down for the intelligent watcher.

Secondly, the storyline is patchy and choppy; the flow is horrible. It looks like three different stories put together using a movie editor. This could be a case of bad editing or just too much editing. You will be on your toes in the first quarter of the movie, almost asleep in the next two quarters and then jumping out of your seat in the last. This aspect is where the movie loses most of its points.

Thirdly, when you set up a premise, however flawed, you need to go through with it. The ending of the movie goes against the very premise to set up a cheap thrill happy ending. I wish we could be content with movies that do not end on a happy note all the time.

The performances by all the actors is commendable, especially Rajni - a true superstar performance.

Verdict - Must watch for Rajni fans and VFX junkies. Don't go in with too many expectations and you will be entertained. Take the story with a pinch of salt. Nobody is killing the birds.
  • I had low expectations from vfx and high expectations from story line, the movie turned out to be exact opposite, vfx turned out to be better than i expected and story line was pretty disappointing, the movie is predictable at so many levels
  • Warning: Spoilers
Pros: 1. Great visual graphics. 2. Superb screenplay 3. Movie connects with you. 4. Brilliant Sound effects

Cons: 1. Story : Movie talks about the endangered birds due to mobile radiations, but in the end destroyed the only person protecting him. Movie proves human have technology which can protect them from anything which will be bad. Nothing has been done for the endangered species except the last scene which I think put there just to save the image of the movie. Chitti, Even after knowing the whole story of "Pakshi" do nothing to protect birds, instead he fight against him. Same as the other villan in the movie did. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT IS THAT THERE IS NO SUCH SCENE WHERE THEY SHOWS A POSITIVE STEP TAKEN FOR THE BIRDS. THEY CAN HAVE IT, WHO CARES.

    2. Connection to the audiance:

This movie creates a tight connection to the audiance in the first part of second half "don't dare to miss it". But that connection is extremely strong that audiance will not consider the villan as a villan.

(Personally I feel that there could be a better ending which suits Akshay Kumar and Rajnikant both)

    3. Actions: for the sake of God don't copy and past all WWE moves, those who know WWE will going to see (undertaker's Last ride) , (Jhon Cena's AA) many time in the climax.

    4. Climax : To stop "Pakshi" (Akshay Kumar) 2.0 (chitti) introduced 3.0 a new generation microbot made of cellphone. Who takes ride on a pigeon and for teasing and stopping Akshay killing 2.0 (chitti) 3.0 hurt pigeons. ARE YOU KIDDING? YOU ARE KILLING THE ONLY PROTECTER OF BIRDS AND ALSO HURTING BIRDS IN THE CLIMAX OF YOUR MOVIE. JUST TO GIVE YOUR AUDIANCE A LAUGH? Well people need to think after watching this movie that who are the actual villans.

Overall this is an action pack shake which you need to digest putting all your second thoughts aside.

    Lame
The plot of this movie is utterly bizarre. The opening sequence is really good and made me excited for what was to follow. Unfortunately what was to follow was unbelievable. It just makes no sense whatsoever. The movie is trying to provide an environmental message, but in the most ridiculous of methods. Had a movie been made which addressed that message in a more grounded way, it could have been interesting. This was simply far too much though. Almost all the performance in this film is atrocious. Ranjinkanth as Chitti was unintentionally laughable. He was an old man trying to act like a superhero robot. Unfortunately whenever he tried to run or do anything physical you could see the amount of effort required. I felt sorry for him. I just imagined him finishing an action scene and needing a week to recover. He wasn't helped too much either by his co-star Akshay Kumar who plays the antagonist Pakshi Rajan. Although the subplot involving his character is good, the character in whole is poorly written. The make-up effects don't look good. To be honest, nobody came out of this looking good, except maybe Amy Jackson who plays another robot and looks amazing. What's even more shocking is that the silly-looking poor CGI costs $76 million, making it Bollywood's most expensive ever film. I have no idea where the money went because this film had the visuals of something from the nineties. There's a big fight scene at the end of the movie that's so ridiculously exaggerated it makes me think it was put there solely to insult the intelligence of the viewer. There was just so much obvious green screen.

Overall, 2.0 is admirable for the ambition to create this huge sci-fi blockbuster but the execution was beyond terrible.
  • 2.0 is undoubtedly a giant leap for the Indian movie industry!

    Positives first:
    • Shankar, his vision, VFX & 3D: The maximum, an Indian movie has ever achieved, that is so close to the Hollywood standards. A very satisfying and convincing work, with such a limited budget (comparing with Hollywood films). Grand imaginations and an ambitious work by the director!
    • Rajini Factor: Although Vasigaran and Good Chitti characters could not impress us much, Rajinikanth starts his rage with 2.0 and 3.0 characters. He nails them to perfection with proper entertainment value. 2.0 is the true Indian superhero, with a lot of potential future projects.
    • Akshay Kumar: His dedication is impressive. His acting in the flashback portion is very natural and he deserves an applause for accepting that character.
    • AR Rahman's BGM and Nirav Shah's camera work lift the movie to another level.

    Negative:
    • An underwhelming and weak storyline that is easily predictable. Screenplay is flat, without any interesting cat-and-mouse moments between the protagonist and antagonist.

Given that most of the superhero films in the Hollywood too have such simple and predictable storylines, the only negative of the film can be magnanimously ignored.

Go watch this indigenous product, that will definitely make you proud as an Indian!
  • It's a sure ENTERTAINER!!!. The 1st half was a little boring, but it really took off from the 2nd part, Akshay Kumar's performance was amazing. Rajinikanth has just nailed it. He is great as Chitti, It was a little over the top, he could've been a little subtle, but nevertheless enjoyable!

VFX was mind-blowing, best in Indian cinema till now! but a little inconsistent in some parts, 3D effects were really good, one of the best 3D experiences.

Everyone should watch this movie atleast for the sheer fun and entertainment it offers throughout the runtime.

Another thing is that some people are criticizing it for the movie being illogical, but trust me, I'm doing my computer science engineering, and the logic was good enough to take in. But, I watched the movie not for it's science, but for grandeur and fun the movie offers! Conclusion: S.Shankar is really creative with the VFX and offers some interesting visual treats! But only if he could've been a little more creative with the story, it could be the best movie of Indian cinema. At the end, it's a must watch. You wouldn't want to miss the fun.

I guess this review encompasses most of the audience's thoughts!
    • Technically awesome and well made.
    • Story line just usual story.
    • Script wise just fine. Nothing humorous and breath taking.
    • Highly lacks creativity.
  • I slept half way through with my friend having to wake me up 😂😂

Silly storyline, broken editing and even Superstar's performance couldn't save this. If you want to be entertained with some mindless VFX, give it a try.... Else Dave some money and time on this and give it a miss.

Ekdum Kadaaaak...performance of all team is outstanding
  • I saw the film 5 times till now, it is first move in India Which reflects the quality of Virtual Effects with 3D encoding. The plot of film is not so strong. and According to the rule ruled in India the message of Movie ( Radiation killed innocent animal ) is incorrect but some where i thing , in reality this massage is correct ( denotes like corruption ) on the manner. A quality Acting from Akshay Kumar ( Pakshi Raja ) and Super Star RajiniKanth. As we are expecting a high drama and action same as Robot. So the people are disappointed. Instead some minor faults, this is a good try for India at World of VFX and Special effect.

Brainless movie by Shankar. Though the underlying theme is good, Shankar completely messed it up by greed of cheap money. Rajni completely wasted as actor but then he is ok to do anything for 100 crs. Shankar should start watching Balachandar and Barathiraja movies. Avoid this movie like plague.
  • Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost I am a big Shankar Shanmugham's fan. He is one of the pioneer directors to change the course of Indian Cinema. I have equal respects for Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar.

And now his latest movie 2.0 has been released with a superb teaser and a ok trailer I was still expecting that Shankar would make a film which can connect to the audience and which will have some good story and mind bending execution.

Well !! I am dissapointed. What happened to you Shankar sir?? You have made classic films like Nayak, Sivaji, I, Aparichit and even the first part Robot and now you have made this??? This is how you disappoint your fans??

Pros:- 1. Amy Jackson's acting was pretty impressive I was surprised she did her part well.

    2. Akshay Kumar did his human part before becoming crow man very well. That part was really good and I did felt some emotions at that time.

    3. Film had promised some next level 3D effects and I was fully satisfied with it.

    4. Shankar's direction was ok but his passion of making a Hollywood type cinema for that I appreciate him.

    5. Some scenes of Chitti version 2.0 were good not all.

Cons:- 1. The Action scenes in the movie were not only Kiddish but were utter crap and boring. Please remove all of those from the movie.

    2. The Bird Man character of Akshay was not made well instead of showing him like a scientific force they could have made him a high tech bird suit that could have been a way cooler character than what was shown in the movie.

    3. The first half of the movie made me to lose my interest in the movie. Seriously they have stretched it too much.

    4. If you are dubbing your movie please hire a better dubbing artist or ask your actors to learn the language and dub for it themselves. I watched 2.0 in Hindi version and the dubbing was utter crap.

    5. I thought Sudhanshu Pandey as the Dr. Vohra's son would be an interesting addition but instead he was horribly used and given a much less screen space time in the movie.

    6. The Murder scenes were looking totally crap. And illogical.

    7. Too much technology and too much scientific explanations really disconnected me from the movie and were boring as hell.

    8. Shankar could have taken efforts in some action scenes.

    9. Hugely disappointed with Rajinikanth's performance he didn't convinced me at all. And instead copied acting from his previous movies.

    10. I know style is one of the main characteristics of Rajini's persona. It gives an immense entertainment to his fans. But this is a Sci fi movie and these types of styles will not work in this kind of film.

    11. Akshay Kumar was not properly used in the movie.

    12. They could have added more humour to keep the audience from getting bored and also in the start like they did in first part to make audience comfortable instead they straight shown an suicide scene lol. And they straight jumped into the subject and just went on and on.

    13. I thought that Chitti version 3.0 could make our excitement go on a next level. But as we were tired in a boring fight sequence already it failed to make its mark.

    14. The Bgm's were pretty disappointing in the scenes.

    15. Songs could have made a suitable environment for the audience where the movie was dipping. But instead they cutted those songs.

I will give 2 stars out of 5. One for 3D effects and One for Shankar's passion and try to make something different. Though he failed miserably on this one. But still we should support him.
  • So, highest budget for any Indian movie tag will give anyone sky high expectations especially when it is directed by a visionary like Shankar Shanmugham. 2.0 hits the correct nerve. It is a well shot 3D spectacle which has set benchmarks of 3D and VFX much high for any Indian movie.

Coming to the story line it is not just wafer thin but it is not huge too. The imagination is really grand and original very much unlike other Indian Superhero films. Some sequences are really masterpiece example Bird chasing Chitti is one of the highlight scene, flashback scenes leave their impacts and help in building up the story. However when a very high budget movie comes out much more is expected and there 2.0 is a bit lagging which was plus point in Robot.

Vfx was unexpectedly very good after seeing it's average impact from promos. Story could have been more complex and the budget might be the restriction. First Half was to the point and no second wasted. The song "Tu Hi Re" should have been played in 2nd half after NILA fixes Chitti. Second half was good but could have been better. The concept and visualization of cell phones travelling and taking up different shapes was very intriguing and classy. The scientific reasoning was very well researched.

The swag of Rajinikanth is very nicely shown and its a treat to watch even if one is not his fan. Pakshirajan's character build up was very strong and nail biting. Nila and 3.0 were surprises and were very entertaining. Logically very correct movie which is not the case with most of sci-fi superhero Indian movies.

In my opinion if the character of Pakshirajan was given more power in the climax and 20-25 more minutes then it would have been the movie that can compete with any holly wood movies. The surprise of 3.0 was very entertaining but irritating at the same time as it stopped the fight sequences. The concept of pigeons was good but they should have shown that pigeons were robots and looking exactly like real ones as Pakshi couldn't identify them and also the story could have looked more believable.

The climax could have been much more grander and imaginative it looked like the makers are out of budget and time and this is where I cut out 3 points out of 10. 2.0 should have been destroyed ruthlessly by Pakshi and then 3.0 should have took over Pakshi.

Coming to the acting, Rajinikanth rocks in this movie with 4 different characters played by him. Can't imagine someone else who can do such thing at his age. He is totally original as Chitti and fresh as 3.0, evil as 2.0 and also kind as Vaseegaran...he is the best. Akshay Kumar had much to excel and he proved once again. He has brilliantly acted in both the characters and hats off to him for his dedication. His hard work can be seen on the screen. Amy Jackson played Nila which was really a role suited for her and much different than the roles usually a female gets in a superhero movie. Others have done good in their respective roles.

Music score in the background was very nice at moments but at some places it wasn't up to the mark...When Nila saw Chitti and the Tu Hi Re tune playing was very nice and Pakshi rap was cool. Songs could have been better, not of A.R. Rahman level. Technical team gets a special mention here for their hard work which was visible on the screen.

Overall 2.0 is a visual delight. In terms of entertainment Robot has an upper edge and in terms of screenplay maturity and visual grandness 2.0 is much ahead. Its easily the best superhero movie of Indian cinema as other movies like Krrish, Flying Jatt, Ra.one and others haven't impressed much. It has a huge budget and hard work which can be seen. Some scenes could have been much better and more imaginative as well as complex. WATCH 2.0 AT LEAST ONCE IN 3D ONLY TO GET ITS REAL EXPERIENCE DOT!!
  • 2.0 is just marvellous movie...with high level of CGI used..extraordinary VFX..Rajnikanth is outstanding in all versions akshay has proved his looks...with a great social cause
  • Warning: Spoilers
After the dismantling of chitti Dr.vaseegaran has made a humanoid robot named Nila and played by Ammy Jackson. From here the story begins. After that suddenly all the mobile phones of the city become disappear.Tohandle this situation chitti is coming back again. Eventhough the story has many loopholes VFX and CGI are un compromisable.Akshay kumars flash backwas really Toutcing. Watchi it in 3D or dont

Okay so you spend approximately 76 million USD on a plot like this? When will the industry realise its not about how much you spend but about how intriguing the story line is. Secondly, even if i let go off the fact that the plot was bad. the acting was terrible too. I dont blame akshay kumar for having starred in a clueless picture like this. The dialogues were lame, the graphics were a good attempt but still its not what the people need. You have movies like badhai ho and andhadhun which are low budget movies which everyone loved. What was this? Lame action with just another random plot with another boring set of character where the hero wins. See agneepath for instance, the plot was taken from an older movie. Despite being a remake the movie was one of bollywood's best works.
  • djpunkey29 November 2018
I gave 10 to appreciate such a movie this is only the beginning.
  • Robot released in 2009 is still a benchmark for all Indian Film as far as VFX part is concerned, who could have surpassed it other than its Sequel? 2 point 0 promises to be a Biggest Visual Spectacle ever and it is actually that Never Seen Before Visual Treat for all Indian Cineviewers. Shankar has done it, he did it 9 yeras ago too, he does it again. Shankar has successfully achieved that Ground Breaking VFX with 2 Point 0. If you are concerned about Big Budget of around 450cr then i assure you that it did not go in Vain. That money is spent on Whatever Mind-Boggling Visual Effects you see it on Screen and it Completely worths it.

The question comes on obvious note that did a Landmark Film like Robot deserve a Sequel? If yes, then will it be able to the match the same phenomena? The Anwer is Yes, 2 Point 0 Surpassed the Benchmark set by Robot on Visual Level by Margin but it lacked the same conviction and Logic like its Predecessor. Technical Team and Shankar Deserves a Standing Ovation for Never Seen Before Visual Effects and i request all of you to watch the Film in Theatre and in 3D only. But there is something less in script for sure, some scenes doesn't make sense at all, some looked outdated. A sloppy Screenplay and high scientific technic theme might be difficult to digest, especially for masses. At some scenes Chitti looked very tiny, as if we are watching him in a Video Game. Actors didn't get much scenes to do acting, less use of BGM etc are tye some minuses to mention.

Overall, i am confused whether to Praise Shankar a lot for some never seen before and Biggest Spectacle Ever or to bash him for not working on the script? No doubts, 2 Point 0 is A GROUND BREAKING FILM for Indian Cinema and it will take many years for other Indian Films to surpass it Practically. Visual Department was focused but Little more attention towards the Script and this one would have been a LANDMARK FILM from all the aspects. As a whole it's a Good One Time Watch for sure, there is nothing disappointing in the film. It is just the matter of what level film you are expecting. Talking about the Box Office, this was the only film which could have challenged Bahubali 2 Domestic Records but now i can say Bahubali 2 Safe.

    RATING- 6/10*

    Warning: Spoilers
Movie created such hype. Story plot was weak and flashback too lack of emotional. For Indians it will be blockbuster but compared to Hollywood it is very Low. VFX was pathetic. Enthiran was masterpiece compared to this. It has complete story based action sequences. But shankar sir can't hit ball. Taran Adarsh take money and spreading 5 🌟 rating. But for Indians it's will be visual treat as villagers neither know 3D nor watch Hollywood. Bahubali is much better than 2.0.

Overall actors did well. Rajni sir character was awesome and fun. Akshay look is ok but his expressions aren't captured. Story mainly not edited by team or else heavily edited. It look like 3 movies mixed in one part. 1st VFX team ruined the work next team hard to maintain moments
  • bakugan2829 November 2018
The movie is not based on Vfx, but has a story with a serious issue. Not boring for a secons, not even close to it. No unnecessary songs, dance.

    Loved it.
  • What would it be like if the characters from Endhiran find themselves inside the plot of typical Shankar movie? 2.0 is what you would get. Using his pet theme - a wronged individual taking revenge on the people who ruined his life - the director gives us a film that is part sci-fi, part horror, part vigilante movie and part special effects spectacle. The plot of 2.0 feels familiar; in fact too familiar. There is no mystery in the supernatural occurrences that we see on screen

The film, however, falls into the trap of a screenplay that has been tried and tested multiple times and that happens to be the biggest drawback of 2.0. If the presentation of the story was done in a tighter manner, it could have worked better for a certain section of the audience. On the whole, without giving up on Superstar's swag, Akshay's performance and his love for spectacularly grand scenes, Shankar presents us with a product that cannot be sidelined. With contemporary touches and technological infusions, 2.0 is a brand that could stand tough against the biggest of Hollywood franchises.
  • A plot that no sane person could actually believe, forcefully trying to convince audience. Make no mistake it has a great VFX and CGI but lacks the minimum sense of movie making and the basics of story telling. Pros: not much expect Amy Jackson.. and I think that says a lot. Cons: I dont know what to say except the whole movie. Its a finacially rich absurdity. Akshay Kumar comes as Pakshi Raj which literally means king of birds which is nothing but hillarious and Rajnikanth's chitti tries to win the battle in a shootout. Guys before you watch a heads up- LOGIC ZERO and I mean a big ZERO but thats not what dissapoints me. What dissapoints me is that there is nothing much to enjoy at all except Akshay Kumars back story where he performs well (only good acting seen through out the film). Guys I strongly recommend guys who were anticipating th e release of this movie to watch it and judge yourself but those who are in doubt know this YOU AIN'T GONNA ENJOY THIS 🤐 peace out.
