Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.
It was confirmed by Becky Albertalli (author of "Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda") that Simon only wears glasses in flashbacks, compared to the book where he always wears glasses.
Don't "Hey, Ms. Albright" me. We're not friends. You're not going to braid my hair or paint my nails. Get your ass off the table now, you sweaty, hormonal virgins. You know what? You're about to be suspended for so long that by the time it's over, ...
When Simon eats with his family, Simon's phone says that it's 3:20, yet when he goes outside to read Blue's email a moment later in the patio, it's pitch black dark.
At the end of the closing credits, on the right side of the screen, it reads "#gtfo". This is an internet initialism for "get the fuck out." It is, in effect, telling audience members to leave the theater.
The version of the film on Blu-ray sold at Target stores includes a bonus miniature replica of Simon's notebook, which features the full e-mails Simon and Blue send to one another in the film.
