Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.
In the movie, Simon has a reaccuring dream about Daniel Radcliffe, who starred as Harry Potter in the "Harry Potter" franchise. On his wall, Simon has a Hufflepuff crest. Hufflepuff was one of the four houses in "Harry Potter."
Tell me about this guy you love.
Simon: You sure?
Leah: Yeah. It'll help me kill off hetero Simon in my mind.
Simon: You don't have to kill him off.
Leah: He's dead, Si. Hacking him up with a mental machete as we speak.
Simon: All right, fair enough.
"Blue"'s e-mail address changes throughout the film. In some scenes, it's "Blugreen118" and in others, "Bluegreen118".
At the end of the closing credits, on the right side of the screen, it reads "#gtfo". This is an internet initialism for "get the fuck out." It is, in effect, telling audience members to leave the theater.
