The moon, the madness, the love and THE Mir Taqi Mir! <3 Though the movie was missing the film-frames, the grandeur and the lighting required in a movie and looked like drama, especially at close ups, like most of new Pakistani movies but it is a once in a blue moon movie and truly a rich intellectual experience. Sarmad Sehbai did a fabulous job with script. Lighting was average because it lakes movie standard at places but Manzar Sehbai & Fahad Mustafa covered that up through their stunning performances along with director Anjum Shahzad. Caution: This is a hard core art & literary movie & may not be suitable for the masses. So watch at your own risk!
  • Mah E Mir is a film that celebrates the beauty and richness of Urdu poetry through the life and works of Mir Taqi Mir, one of the greatest poets of the 18th century.

The film has a flair for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail. The film is written by Sarmad Sehbai with poetic elegance and wit.

The songs are soulful and melodious, capturing the essence of classical Urdu poetry. The film also features some beautiful ghazals.

Mah E Mir is a film that pays tribute to Urdu literature and culture in a captivating way. It is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates poetry, art and history.

Well to begin with i had a lot of expectations from this movie and i am glad to say that the movie exceeded the limits , wow the acting of the cast was just superb and the dance performances just stole the show . overall it is a treat for the family and friends and you must watch this as it is something different. do keep in mind its not the kind of a movie that will have comedy scenes or masala things it is a serious movie that demands the audiences to concentrate on its single minute , at parts it even gets chaotic.well in short Fahad Mustafa and Iman Ali just stole the show . Watch It for Mir Watch It For Fahad And Iman Watch It For Pakistani Cinema Which I can guarantee has a bright future after watching this one . My Rating 10/10 well i was gonna rate this 9 but the intensity of the movie didn't let me do it . Go And watch this as its a MUST WATCH.

  • I have watched it once since then lost into the movie tempted to watch it again ... Its not something ordinary but did capture your thoughts like the poetry of Mir ... Too classy and excellent theme work on Mir's life blending in to this generation and the previous too... The more you solve the mystery of his poetry and the idea behind the story the more impressed you will surely get after watching this movie !!! Its a family feast ... A peaceful movie like this makes you forget about real world until climax and even afterwards discussed this with family members and enjoyed the way it intellectually captured us all in a discussion,,, as not every movie has such an impact... loved it !!!
  • "Mah E Mir" is a story about depravity and madness of love. A wonderful depiction of modern and classical Urdu literature. Irrespective of your nationality this movie will trace your mind if you have a love for serious cinema.

Plot: The film's story focuses on the life of a modern-day poet named Jamal going through a rough patch. The movie tries to draw parallels between Jamal's and Mir Taqi Mir's life with the story jumping from present-day to Jamal's mind as he imagines himself to be Mir Taqi Mir in Lucknow focusing on the trials and tribulations that Mir once experienced (faithfully adapted from Mir's biography).

Star Cast: Fahad Mustafa, Emaan Ali, Manzar Sehbai & Sanam Saeed.

    Director: Anjum Shehzad

What's Good: Everything. A story of a tremendous potential perfectly executed by charismatic Persian and Urdu poetry narrations. This movie demands your concentration during the whole time frame to understand the intellect of the basic theme.

Acting Performances: Fahad Mustafa is a great actor. Recently he said in a statement that "He's Salman Khan of Pakistani Cinema". I'm a die-hard fan of Salman Khan but on honest terms, after watching this film I would say that he is a lot better actor than Salman Khan. He's one of the finest artists from Pakistan.

Manzar Sehbai as Dr. Kaleem is the core of this film. Without him, it would be a boring literature class but his acting and narration provide a lot of layers. I loved all of his Persian narrations.

Emaan Ali did a good job as Mehtab. Her looks did more wonders than her acting and dialogue delivery.

Music: Sound Track and Background score were intriguing throughout the full film.

Last Word: It's the best Pakistani Film in modern times. Watch it and let's fall in love with Urdu once again.

In my entire life I have only walked out of maybe one movie and that was "House of 1000 Corpses". This was the second one, I was not the only one who walked out, many people left before the interval but I kept at it thinking that maybe by interval the movie might pick up but no it didn't. I am big on movies and I have pretty much seen all the latest Pakistani movies in cinema and Pakistani cinema has come a long way from "Mula jut" era!! Meh e Mir is extremely slow and boring movie, Fahad Mustafa's hair style kept changing, I don't understand why they needed to curl them because they were always curled differently through out the movie which takes your attention away from the movie as well even between the scenes :( I couldn't sit through the end so I think I left maybe 25 minutes before the movie ended. Cinematography was good, some direction and photography was also good but it was not consistent. Fahad Mustafa's acting also kept changing maybe due to the few years the movie took to be completed. I love poetry and I wanted to love this movie but story was too slow, too less info/material about Mir in it!! seemed like a big stretch. One song was OK rest of them sucked!! 80% of the people in cinema were on their phones, I wonder why didn't they leave in the first place??? I am a big supporter of Pakistani cinema and want it to do well but I just can not review/rate a bad movie bad movie good!! I am sorry!! Do your self a favor, don't waste your money/mind/time and watch something else in cinema and you can thank me later.
  • Very nice film and nice acting by Fahad Mustafa. Best part of film is Fahad Mustafa. The sad and emotional scenes of him are too good.
  • I watched this movie a while ago on holiday and it was a pain to sit through! Hands down the worst movie I have seen in my life. Slow, painful, nonsensical, boring, and very hard to understand. There was a a lot of potential, they could have made a very entertaining movie with the storyline but unfortunately a failure. Many people left halfway through the movie. I really don't think Lollywood should make biographical films! Good acting by Fahad Mustafa though!
  • Love mah e mir.. Loved it, feel it and love every bit of this movie must watch indeed. After ages saw something tastefully done
  • Addresses the clash between modern settings and Urdu poetry in a complex intertwined way between current reality and evergreen Urdu poetry written ages ago. Excellent cast of characters...

I just came back from watching this movie and have a lot to say about it:

GOOD THINGS: - Fahad Mustafa is a great actor; I've always liked him and I think he did a great job - Iman Ali is gorgeous as always and looked beautiful - The songs are good - The poetry is very charismatic and intriguing - The story was something different and had a lot of potential - People who love poetry will like the movie

THINGS THAT CAN IMPROVE: - The movie was very slow; lots of parts did not need to be so long and could have been much shorter - The poetry was over done to the point that one start's getting bored and lost - The screenplay could been done in a more smooth and cohesive way - The story could have been way better executed

GENERAL COMMENTS: OK, I think the beginning dragged on a lot! I did not like Sanam Saeed's character in the movie - every time she came on I just got bored. The story started getting interesting when they showed the Doctor's lady love come back and then they showed Iman Ali getting married. I thought the movie would get better but then it got slow and poetically complex again. TOO MUCH POETRY! Normal audiences would not understand this nor get entertained by it. The ending got a bit interesting but it could have been much more powerful.

So overall, the story had tremendous potential. They way in which they drew parallels between Mir's life and Fahad Mustafa's life was very intriguing and interesting (though could have been done better).

That being said, I am totally supportive of, and loving the revival of Pakistani cinema. I think the strength of Lollywood is their unique and rich story lines, but the screenplay, direction and flow can be done much better. I look forward to what Lollywood has in store for us in the future!
